Sorry, wrong again. The Lend-Lease act wasn't passed until 1941. before that, the amount of material being sold was far too small to have any effect on the economy, mostly because the British had no money to pay for what we gave them.
While it's true that what ultimately got us out of the depression was WW2, my point is that this new right-wing fairy tale about the New Deal not working isn't borne out by the facts. Millions of people got jobs during the worst part of the Depression.

What we did in the early 80's DIDN'T work. Reagan ended up having to raise taxes and we still ended up with a massive deficit.
When Reagan left office, more people were living in poverty, our infrastructure was decaying, but those on the top were living it up, so of course those same people are saying we should do what Reagan did. Reagan also gave tax credits to people who didn't pay income taxes, just likie Obama. Once again, the actual facts contradict the talking points.

While it is in each persons best interest to regulate against overexploitation, it is similarily in each persons best interest to exploit it as long as it isn't regulated, because elsewise others will exploit it and profit instead.

If the good governor felt that his state did not need the infastructure and other investments and that it would not stimulate the state's economy it would be in his Best Political Interest to refuse the funds so he would have more points to score as he made his rounds on the talk shows. So, according to your logic, all babies should get their appendix removed at birth. It serves no function, and is dangerous to have in the body. Appendixes only cause death. This obvious far worse than having more money laying around. However, in both situations no sensible person would prescribe these resolutions. Why? Because in the common case there would be more potential for net lost than net gains. The issue at hand it not whether the money will be helpful, but is it being used wisely?

The bottom line is that the governor weighed his options and knew that it would be a good idea to take the money so that his state could begin its recovery which is exactly what the Bill was designed to do; yet he's all over the talk shows speaking against it. And in this case, this would be one of the more sensible and appropriate plans of action. The Democrats have the house and the senate. There is hardly any negotiating going on; they're dominating. It's complete hypocrisy on republicans part. The state funding in the stimulus bill was one of the major arguing points for the republicans. Dems had to cut the funding just to attempt to meet halfway. For them to take money from funding they opposed. in a bill they opposed is just hypocritical.
Why would one refuse to take money for the state when they oppose the WAR.
This is republicans taking money from a stimulus bill they opposed, with state funding they opposed.

I don't fault republican governors or congressional members for utilizing this stimulus, I don't think that's what the president wants either.
I think all members of congress, whether they agree or disagreed with the stimulus should now stop thinking ''politics'' and really focus on how to utizilize each individual dollar to it's fullest potential.

States got funding for ''state security'' when the war was first an issue.
Liberal/Democrat Governors and members of congress to funds associated with ''state/country security'' and used it even though they opposed the war.
Look I'm in no way defending the war, I'm just saying. I don't care how you voted, once it's law and you're a state rep. and you receive money to ''fix your state'' and it's current problems.

you should, philosphical beliefs are irrelevant now. Each member of congress should taket his stimilus and use each dollar effectively.
I understood the political stance when voting, which I even thought was pretty disrepsectful to President Obamas attempt to reach out, but now that's it's happened.
These Conservative/Republicans shouldn't feel guilty for taking Stimilus money and applying it for it's use to their states.

he just made the point that when Liberals opposed legislation throughout the last 8 years they still took funds attatched to them.
