  • woow. canada girls represent!

  • Great video. Where did you get the folder from?:) it looks great

  • I'm sure you've already been asked but what lipstick are you wearing?

  • I always put our savings in the freezer in a food box thats empty.

  • @MissNikkiPip >:D

  • Dude, I want bills that look like that. LOL! I have been living on my own since I was 15 years old and I am now 18. I have done everything you stated in this video for years! So helpful and great!!

  • I can't stop staring at your lips! That color is hot!

  • Wow, Canadian money is gorgeous! I gotta hide my busted greenbacks in shame lol. I think the money organizer is a great idea. It also makes me think of a study I read that said that the act of holding money boosts mood. I guess it makes you feel more secure.

  • you do kinda remind me of kat jennings... :)

  • i really miss your badass hair colors.

  • Remember the Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Glosses? They're on sale on the Urban Decay website for on 5 us dollars!

  • I love how the new money looks like. Just looks so awesome and fun to look at.

  • it's been a hard days night and I've been working like a dog, it's been a hard days night I should be sleeping like a log..

    more work lyrics.

  • great tips girl! I am saving for a new camera, so this definitely helps, but I hope I can be financially independent whenever I am 23! :D

  • Where did you pick up that money folder!? Indigo or chapters? Seems like something they'd carry

  • I'm eighteen and just separated from the military, so I'm like a virgin to managing myself financially. Thank you for this video, it honestly helped me.

  • I'm just curious, what job do you have?

  • i dont agree with that budgeting is not rewarding. because you can get a good high from having lots of money left

  • so do you use that money folder in place of a wallet?

  • where did you get the folder from? :)

  • My only problem is my $35 a week Starbucks obsession! Other than that I'm pretty good with my husbands money! :)

  • Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. I'm so horrendous with money and seriously need to get better. Thanks for the tips girl!

  • Lol, I put alcohol in the "food" area of spending....I guess "recreation" makes more sense....unless you're a wino like me. :/

  • That green money folder/book thing is neat!! Where did you get it?

  • Mexcian money is even fancier! lol :p

  • This was really helpful :) thanks for sharing!

  • I've been workin', slavin' every day, gotta get away from the same old, same old :D

  • @djmindy You're awesome! Thank you <3

  • I save a lot of money for groceries by using coupons and buying things at half off. Like in Zehrs and super store I buy bread, fruit, and everything else for 50% off, and I get a lot of things for really cheap. We got $90 worth of food, for $35 so that's pretty dang good. Me and my boyfriend got bread for 25cents each for using a coupon and it was half off, and we just stuck it in the freezer until we needed it. Same with fruit, we just cut it up and put them in the freezer. It's awesome~

  • Where oh where did you get that awesome money holder?

  • I have the same folder! haha

  • Thanks for your advice!

  • great vid! thanx. your awesome and so gorgeous!

  • Right before you said to hide the money folder in your freezer.. that was my exact thought. xD

  • i do this with my money and it really works especially the food budgeting

  • if you really like coffee, you should invest in a specialty coffee machine next time you treat yourself. i have a keurig, and it's amazing. i rarely go out for coffee these days

  • were did you get your money folder? its a great idea ! :)

  • where'd you get your money book folder!?

  • I love watching your vids but honestly didn't think I'd learn that much about managing my money as earn so little I don't even bother - that money book idea is really great though - I think I might try it. I'm the same with using my debit card and thinking I have more money than I do, rather than using actual physical cash..

  • WHAT is this lip color?! It's beautiful!

  • Where can you find a money folder like that? I dig it.

  • @vgonash phew. i want one too. i found it. it's called a money receiptable book

  • I would never keep cash in a folder like that. I once lost 120 pounds of wages on a walk home from my first job. Never again!

  • @missivonmcgowan It doesn't leave my house.

  • This was very helpful for me, I'm only 16 but I plan to start becoming independant in a few years time. Got very upset at clothes being the lowest priority, though, that's my downfall haha :( x

  • Sadly, I feel like this video was made for me... im horrible at keeping track of my money and bills... cash really does help me hold on to it longer than a debit card :]] great tips!

  • the Money book idea is fantastic... thanks!

  • to be honest everything you said i thought was basic human knowledge that i thought everyone knew but fair play to those who actually learned something from this.

  • Your eyeshadow is indeed NOT odd. You've got yourself a new subbie! :D

  • This is so helpful!

Will be going to an make up school next year and this is so helpful!

  • This video has been so helpful. I turn 18 in 4 months and my dads cutting me off financially. Thank you!

  • If there's money left over, get a savings account. I have a savings account and I cannot take money out of it unless I actually go to the bank, and have them take out money. No ATM cards and no online withdrawls (moving money to a different account) for that account. Only adding money to the account online is allowed. Having to go to the bank feels like such a chore, so I don't do that and my money is saved.

  • loving the lips!

  • "and maybe your parents, if you trust your parents" XD AHAHHAHAH!!! I love you Nat!!!!

  • i agree that figuring your fixed (rent/travel/utilities) expenses is so important. Then the variable expenses (things that can change such as groceries, clothing, entertainment). At one point in my life i assessed that i needed more money for debt repayment and actually moved to an apartment that was 100$ less a month so i could get a handle on things. It is important to sort out this. Having a goal like IMATs helps when you want to spend! great topic!

  • Though the money book works, I would mention its weakness is being physical. So it's still susceptible to being stolen and set ablaze by a house/apartment fire.

  • two broke girls cracks me up so much, i love kat dennings! i also do quite enjoy the new hundred dollar bills, they feel so weird!!

  • Where did you get that green money book?

  • To see someone the same age as me giving me non-boring & genuinely smart financial advice is something I never thought I'd see. Thank you for this video!

  • were did u get that money book? is there a link? thanks:)

  • I just started budgeting with mint.com and its a LIFESAVER. It's kinda like a budgeting app, but it categorizes all your transactions automatically so you don't have to organize it, it just TELLS you where all your money is going and you can create budgets and it will send you messages when you're getting low... and PS. YAY IMATS 2012!

  • Two Broke Girls complete my life.

  • Don't kill me for saying this, you look like a cooler version of Christina Aguilera.

  • What lipstick are u wearing?? OMG, the color is gorgeous!!

  • Sounds like great advice. ^_^ another little trick is to round up all your spending when you right them down. for example if you get a coffee that is $2.50 write down that it was $3.00 so than by the end of the month or next pay period you actually have a little bit more money than you thought.

  • i wish america had money as cool as canada :(

  • These advice! I spend everything from every check besides paying all the bills. I have spending issue and these tips can control my urges:) thank you!

  • Putting in the freezer is a bad idea, it's also one of the first places a robber will check. Put it in or under your pots/pans, make a hidden pouch in your curtain or hide it in the cabinet under the bathroom sink.

  • @Feurety430 if you live in New York, horrible idea. even those are common knowledge places, even the tank of the toilet in a zip lock is a "bad idea". personal best bet, stupid as it may sound, if your stove or fridge is not too low to the ground..under those, or zip lock inside the washing machine when empty. tricks I've heard from new yorkers. robbers usually don't wanna bend down when they are looking for money. hope this helps :)

  • So helpful! I totally need thi

  • yes! this is so helpful!

  • Awesome tips, I've never heard anyone say to calculate how much their food bill is going to be before you buy! That sounds super helpful!

  • as someone starting university next year this was really helpful. I don't need to worry about rent yet, but I'm planning on going to NYC so budgeting will be really important. Thank you so much for the tips!

  • I also want to put out there that budgeting is important for daily spending, but it's critical to budget for your future as well. Investments, IRAs, etc. are crucial for building your financial life. Yes, you need to be careful about not going to Starbucks everyday, but budgeting should also include thinking about retirement while your young, and putting money into accounts that grow. Living paycheck to paycheck isn't wise.

  • @verymegv I agree, this video is more about just getting on your feet which is where I am right now. It's hard to get ahead and not live paycheck to paycheck when your young, and these were my tips to try and get there.

  • @verymegv Yes I agree totally! From the first time you get any money you should be saving some percentage.

  • If anyone is having troubles finding one: Calendars . com has them. :D

  • @xfridayxthex13thx The only reason I had to put retarded spaces in there is that Youtube won't let me post links, apparently.

  • Two years into college and already 50,000 dollars in debt, and currently paying off a laptop, I NEEDED this video to come out before I started this semester. Thank you so much!

  • Credit is awesome! The more cards open, the better your score. The better your score, the better odds you'll have to get a house/other necessities.

DO NOT spend into the last 30% of your cards (example, 1500 card, don't spend the last 500)

DO NOT rely on them or put stupidass purchases on them. EMERGENCIES! Not having a backup foundation is not an emergency. Lol

And lastly, if you have one and cycle bills off of it to gather points (like my husband and I do) have enough money to pay it off bef

  • I'm glad to see this video by someone in the YouTube beauty community. I think that a lot of people are buying beauty products beyond their means so your video can serve as a reality check.

  • I love Two Broke Girls. And I love your lip color

  • This really helped :) Thanks!

  • Love this. You're my favorite guru just because you're a regular lady like a bunch of us. I feel what you're going through. Good luck!

  • So happy to see this video, This is such an important thing in life. we don't see enough people talking about their budget, good for you.

  • I'm 22 and just finally started being able to weed out my student debts. It really is an awesome feeling. Still not completely financially independent but getting close! Thanks for this video, love hearing different peoples methods. :)

  • i'm a massage therapist and i barely started working full time at chiropractic office and this helped me so much!!! thanks! :]

  • cool money =) I wished ours looked like that here in the states but its just plain old green and white but the good news is it still works ;) I wished I had done a better job when I was your age cause you will pay for the goof ups later =/

  • I agree about seeing where your money goes. I find that people sometimes don't get the grasp of how quickly money adds up. I once told someone who loved their work take out lunch that hey even if you cut out one of those a week and add it up over the course of a month or a year you'll truly see how much that's costing you and could save you in that time. There was amazement at the number. Coupons to "oh its just a dollar saving" but hey that dollar adds up.

  • u and i have a lot of the same ideas. ur very smart, and im loving the new 100 bill also.

  • Loved this video

  • ahhhh i wish i had more will power

  • @CherryBombVideos they have that money wallet thing @ modcloth

Thanks for this video, it was brilliant! <3

  • Thank you for all the tips! I'm definitely going to get myself a money folder! Also love your purple lips! :)

  • great video thanks

  • Oh god, you have no idea how much I needed this, I m making it on my own! So!! Really needed this!

  • Excellent tips! I kind of do it already with my family. But all I do is keep a notebook and write what I need to pay off and then whatever is left is for gas and groceries. But the money book sounds awesome. Where do you get that? Walmart?

  • fyi love your makeup in this

  • Where did you get that money folder from =) I need one of those

  • tbh this is a well needed video!

  • You have just helped me - you have no absolutely idea how much!

    thank you! :)

  • Great video! I do what you do but I do it all online so my money is safe. I came to canada by myself when I was 18 so I can't get welfare or anything so saving is very important for me also I keep an extra months rent in my sock drawer but i'm definitely going to move it now lol

  • only thing i can add is DO NOT EVER GET A CREDIT CARD! Operate in the black at all times. Credit is a trap.

  • @TigerHorseTiger Exactly. I don't have a credit card nor do I plan on getting one.

  • @myeyeshadowisodd I have a credit card and a debit card. I track all my purchases, I pay 100% of the credit bill. For example, January's bill I get Feb 8th, I pay all of it then, nothing is left unpaid. That is when it gets bad when the unpaid part builds up month after month. I track how much I have used and save as much that month that I can pay the bill the following month. I think having a credit card is fine. But only 1, not many. And paying 100% of the bill right away.

  • @TigerHorseTiger I am so glad my family isn't the only ones that still believe in this. It's good to know that other people feel the same about credit cards these days.

  • @oOoMELLILDoOo For sure. It is the easiest way to be caught out financially I reckon. :-)

  • @TigerHorseTiger I have to disagree with you. How would you buy a car, a house or stay at a hotel without credit? You can still be financially responsible with a credit card. People do it all the time. I am one of those people.

  • Comment removed

  • @TigerHorseTiger I learned my credit lessons from my mom. she got sucked in and she's working two jobs to pay that off.

  • @Bccaundefined Good thinking. Spending within your means is the trick!

  • @TigerHorseTiger I actually really disagree. Credit cards are extremely valuable, because without good credit, you will be limited when wanted to make important purchases like a house, a car, etc. The thing about credit cards is you need to use it like a debit card, and only spend what you actually have. My credit card is linked to my checking account and withdraws directly like a debit card, but I'm still building my credit score. So in actuality, credit cards are really important....

  • @verymegv That's fair enough. It might work a little differently where you are. I have never been turned down for any sort of loan because I never had a credit card though, because I have a really nice savings account balance instead :-)

  • @TigerHorseTiger Maybe, but credit in general seems to be similar enough. I understand what you're trying to say though. Many people think credit cards are a way to spend money you don't have, when that's a very backwards way of using them. In short, spend within your means. Budget, and spend wisely.

  • @verymegv Agreed :-)

  • @TigerHorseTiger @myeyeshadowisodd The only reason I would disagree (from the view of living in the U.S., mind you) - eventually you'll need credit to build a history and get certain things like a car or a home. Yes, that's in the future, but needs to start somewhere. Getting a credit card isn't bad. It's how you USE it that makes the difference.

  • this is a really great video, nice one!

  • what silver eyeshadow/glitter are u wearing? its gorgeous

  • Where did you get that money folder from???

  • @KaityESmith

I got it from Coles I believe like most bookstores have those random office supply section, I've seen them there.

  • Doesn't sound like you have very good friends if you think they'd steal from you.

  • @MissLeigh78 It's a fact of life...you can't really trust people. In moments of desperation, people will do crazy things like stealing from friends. I trust my best friend, but I still wouldn't tell her where I keep my cash.

  • @MissLeigh78 nooo shes just not stupid and naive, you never ever know.

  • omg, where can i buy one of thoes money folders?

  • thank you so much this video really REALLY helps :)

    xoxoKira
