Being able to play guitar like this is one thing, but being able to actually create the songs you do is absolutely amazing. Bravo Craig you have a lot to be proud of.
I think in alot of ways, your playing is the most tasteful and rich of all the distinguished CandyRat artists. I would rather be able to play in your style then the others for certain.
@soopa96 no song is too difficult to learn. You'll get this song down, it's got a couple of tricky parts but the rhythm is similar throughout most of it so you'll be fine.
Craig I saw you in 2008 with Dufour in Chicago. Amazing set, and your music is only getting better. For someone just starting fingerstyle guitar, do you have any beginner tips or cool, easy songs to learn? What'd you start learning first? Currently I'm learning Dufour's Spiritual Groove.
I'm recording and i'm trying to get a really crisp sound, how do you have everything set up? How far is your condenser and do you also have a direct input on your guitar?
Wonderful song! We very recently lost our newborn child Lilly and the title so fits the situation we were in. We only got three days with our loved child and she was very sick. She was "Almost Gone, Barely here". Thanks for sharing your wonderful music!
I remember that i wanted to play this song so bad, but i can't read tabs and rpoland doesn't had this vid...so when i saw you uploaded it, i was like "fuckin awesome!".
wow, that 9er on 0:41 really got to me. Powerful stuff you show off there, sir. Remember with great power comes great responsibility - which. of course - means we want more of this.. or else ;)
@ShaneThompson94 I saw him play this song in Austin a few weeks ago. He said "Almost Gone, Barely Here" is about still living at home with your parents when you are 24.
How did you get where you are at? Did you promote your playing by going around, or did someone just discover you on day? I am just curious as i am a guitarist myself and would love to do it for a living.
Also, you have a couple really great tunes man. Stages of obsession, morrison country and three mile bike ride are some of my favs brother. AS well as this song too, of course.
craig it fucking amazes me that thats all the views this song has. def one of my favs. no matter what mood im in it just makes life worth while for me. thanks for everything
@SnipySnob Are you freaking kidding me? First of all, he WROTE it, so ease off there pal. Second of all, you must be deaf, because it's damn near perfect.
@craigd19 i heard u really sell tabs for money i m also tryin to master this open tuning techniques ................................i would really to try out your songs ..i heard u sell for 10 bucks does that mean 10 dollars m askin cause m from india and i dont know how to make sense of this so i really would like to know ...anyway i enjoy your playing :) regards from india

I find that most (not all) of the stuff thats specifically challenging is not as musical as something like this. Something thats genuinely inspired is on a whole different level from something that is simply difficult.
@karen0444 Totally missed this comment. Sorry! I usually pick a chord that I like and try to arrange those notes in some sort of order. This one - it's D9 chord. sounds cool in standard tuning, works great as an open tuning. Also has lots of easy ways to play major and minor shapes. Kind of have to think about all of that when making a new one. It's easier to steal them from other guitarists!
the more i listen to your songs the more i like them ! If that makes sense haha i pick out different techniques and sounds each time. I was looking into getting a baritone from Marc Beneteau . .. but then i realized how poor i was! great song i love the 8th notes at the 12th fret
I don't really believe that calling it easy takes away anything from the song. If you think about it another way, it's actually pretty interesting to be able to write a very nice song without over-complicating it, so the fact that it's easy to play, to me, adds more than takes away.
its a easy song but not when it comes to the sound quality... Id love to see someone match the way he can play the song... Theres a different between an easy cover and an easy song... just my 2 cents
At the same time, don't assume that just because it sounds really good that it is difficult to play. This song actually is quite easy to play even without tabs.
They always make fun of his music like so easy to play and etc. but the point they miss is, how creative he is. I mean check this song. Amazing tune btw.
That's something I never understood, complaining because something is easy to play, I don't see how that's relevant at all. All that should matter is how good it sounds. I'd much rather have a song that easy to play and sounds excellent than a song that's hard to play and sounds terrible.
@Youlessness I agree totally! By saying his songs are easy, it's obvious that they've overlooked one important factor: He is the one signed by fucking CANDYRAT RECORDS! That's gotta say something for his music :) Craig is Awesome <3

@soopa96 I found it quite easy requires a few techniques to master though hope this helps :D
