  • Catch the Heavy Metal Kids live at The 100 Club London on Thursday March 3rd 2011.

  • No, AC/DC asked DanMcafferty to sing with them but he refused...

  • the singer really plays the clown... it's his very own way to be punk in 77...funny music with those Sweet backin' vocals... what a strange band they were at that time...nearly a parody of themselves and rock n roll...

  • omg. thank to the one who have post this song! i didnt have a chance to hear it since maybe 30 years, but i still remember each part of the song, since i had hear it in german tv in my youth. thats the soundtrack of my teenage-days

  • Saw Heavy Metal Kids at West Runton Pavillion when I was 17. They were excellent. So pleased to find this on here. Was kinda my theme tune back in the day......lol

  • Saw them there many times too...even got them to sign my copy of Anvil Chorus...legends!

  • A signed Anvil Chorus, I'm jealous. They were fabulous fun to see live. Happy days.

  • Remember hearing this years ago, but never knew who it was back then. What happened to the rest of the band - are they still playing/recording?

  • Yeah they are still going with 3 of the original members and are now working on a follow up album to the excellent 'Hit The Right Button' album from 2003.

  • Gary looks so much younger here than he did in Auf pet.

    R.I.P

  • Auditioned, yes...offered the job? no!!

Nobody except Brian was ever offered the AC/DC job.

  • How do you know Pal? Are you in the business?

  • I'm still waiting for your reply. The delay makes me think you don't know what you're on about.

  • Think what you like....I know what I know....I have inside knowledge from a very good source who was on AC/DC's pay roll from 1978-1983, and that is that AC/DC auditioned several singers, and spoke to several more (NOT Marc Storace from Krokus no matter what he says these days!) but didn't offer the job of singer to anybody before or after Beano.

  • What I understand was that he was strongly considered for the role of frontman for Acca Dacca. He certainly had the voice & charisma was a Bon Scott type of singer. Apparently he asked to auditioned for the band but failed to show on 3 occassions & thus blowing his chance to replace Scott & paving the way for Johnson. The band were also vary of his fast lifystyle & thought that he might end up like Scott - which proved tragicaly true. Ironically he died at the age of 33 (the same age as Scott)

  • @thecelestialtoymaker You are about right here. In fact Gary did audition for the band though but like you say they had their doubts about Gary's lifestyle as did the Heavy Metal Kids.

  • @IdleAl No, AC/DC asked DanMcafferty to sing with them but he refused...

  • Great band. Holton was never offered the AC/DC job, that was just a rumour going round at the time. Shame he died so young, he was a good actor too!

  • I can tell you for a fact that Gary auditioned for AC/DC.

  • @TheHeavyMetalKids I knew that Kieth, and yes he did because i know a lot of things about Gary!!!

  • woww,

    this is heavy metal??

    hahahahahaha.

    well, i still love it!

  • gARY HOLTON IS A VOCALIST THAT FITS INTO WHAT I CALL SAILOR/PIRATE SINGERS.WE ALSO HAVE;BONN SCOTT,ALEX HARVEY,BJØRN MULLER(CHECK OUT NORWEGIAN ;BACKSTREET GIRL HERE ON YOU TUBE,AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND) tHESE ARE MY PIRATE HEROES!i LIKE JOHN DEPP,BUT HE IS NOT CLOSE..!SHIP O`OY! PEACE

  • Bloody great.

  • Its wor Weee-un from AWP - never seen him sing - it sounds sort of half Bowie and half AC/DC - the other blokes singing the chorus spoil it a bit and why does it need key-boards. real cocker nee purb rock mid 70's. He had the chance to join AC/DC would have been better than Geordie, but would have died soon after Bon

  • HMK always had a keyboard player, until their last re-inacarnation (Delerious)before Gary went on to AWP. This song DOES sound different (heavier) with two guitarists, Barry Paul and Jay Williams

  • Brilliant single, brilliant band,

    brilliant singer, bloody brilliant

  • @NeilThompson30 You expected that from Gary Holton as he was a brilliant frontman :) Shame he died so young :'( x

  • The lead singer is Gary Holton who played a cheeky ladies man Cockney carpenter in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.Sadly he died of drugs overdose during the filming of the second series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

  • @stingray4real Gary was a legend and an absolute legend :) Sad that he passed away so young :'( x

  • Great live band watched them many a time..still have the photos...might even display them soon

  • thank you man! great sleaze this one!

  • Porque sera que ya no hay grupos en la actualidad como este. THANKS FOR THIS SONG.
