  • Adam Lambert owes alot to Adam Ant.

  • I'm 49 (close to pension time) but like this song. Have the cd. But not thrilled with the whole album.

  • Don't know why more boys don't wear lipstick it suits them. And the white stipe looks pretty good too.

  • @Elibobbob I tried Tippex for an 80's night at college. The chemicals took the skin of my nose but it was worth it! :)

  • now I know where Russel Brand gets it from...

  • When i was a kid i was a big fan of Adamn Ant. One day when i was about 5, i got dressed up like him, complete with white stripe across the face.

My aunt took a pic, that pic still exists, decades later

never in the history of the human race has anyone wanted to go back in time and destroy a camera so much

  • just can't decide which is sexier, this or prince charming!

  • anyone recognise Amanda Donohoe? i remember when Castaway was shown on Channel 4 and every man jack of us at the boarding house were transfixed by her ... Adam Ant had some real babes in his time Amanda Donohoe, Jamie Lee Curtis and Heather Graham ....

  • Im the dandy highwayman who youre too scared to mention

I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention

The devil take your stereo and your record collection!

The way you look youll qualify for next years old age pension!

this song is so amazing and addictive adam and the ants are legends

  • OMG You are so right this is Captain jack Sparrow

  • This song is so addicting! Love everything about it. Like the clothes!

  • He would have been a GREAT Captian Jack Sparrow. I Love Johnny Depp but Adam is the BEST. Went to see him in Pittsburgh, PA when I was in High school, he was the greatest i have ever seen. I still have dreams about it and that was about 28 years ago. Adam Forever.

  • 1:47

Oh yeaaaaah, he knows he's got some.

  • One of the best songs and video EVER!!!!

  • Reminds me of the US Federal Reserve!

  • I'm standing I'm standing.....

  • adam ant and michael jackson are so hot and daivid bowie too, only they can wear makeup and get away looking so sexy, swoon.

  • Loved this guy! Only cassette tape I completely wore out!

  • you've just got to love Adam Ant! love this song!

  • i have never wanted to BE peachy pink lip gloss before....lol

  • This was my very favourite music video when I was a teen.

  • Yes jack was born, but no one can do it like adam.

  • I LOVE ADAM AND THE ANTS, I NAMED MY FIRST BORN SON AFTER ADAM HIS SONGS I USED TO CONSTANTLY LISTEN TO AND I HAD ALL HIS ALBUMS - EXCELLENT TIMES

  • PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE THIS SONG WILL QUALIFY FOR NEXT YEAR'S OLD AGE PENSION.

  • is there any songs with no dislikes

  • I partied with him (yeah I'm old...lol) in the 80's in New Orleans. He was super nice & polite...didn't even drink.

  • @TERESAWEAVER1 I remember being a mere 17 years old. He was on tour for the Strip. My girlfriend Heather and I scored passes to the private party at the Edgewater in Seattle. As those who care, do know, Phil Collins produced that album, and of course went on tour too. I remember walking into the room, and reading the sign that read: "No Photographs, No Autographs, and NO SMOKING" Lucky they had no problem, allowing us young'ns, drink.

  • Heh I was one years old when this was done. Shame modern music has none of the charismatic flamboyancy of the 1980’s. Plus modern pop music is crap. 30 years later people still love him, will the same be said for Britney Spears or will it be an embarrassment?

  • @Delabane I already stopped caring, she only ever did one good song and even that was overrated.

  • I sing this at the counter every time I go to FedEx or UPS,

or when I find myself in the maternity ward,

staring at the business end of a howling she-devil

  • Adam Ant will always be in my heart and soul.

  • Whoa, whoa... This is not disco, folks. Disco is Donna Summer and the Bee Gees. Adam and the Ants were considered British Pop just as Duran Duran, David Bowie, etc. But, regardless, Adam Ant was and is a true classic who remains one of the icons of the 80's music generation, which includes myself.

  • This song is from a great album. Anyone not familiar with it, I have to say BUY IT, its one of the most well crafted, sonically dynamic, strange albums ever.

  • I remember the school disco age 10 - half the boys (me included) had white stripes across our noses. Cool>

  • @leeloveskym BEST DISCO EVER!

  • Comment removed

  • @lewisner um. yeh I know that. I was replying to the person who was talking about Adam Ant playing at a disco...

  • @leeloveskym I wish I was alive then. D:

Stupid mother being so young when Adam Ant was awesome.

(He still is, but, you get my drift.)

  • @pukedragon Wow! How on EARTH did you get that from my comment? It is well documented, and Adam has publicly discussed this, that he suffers from bipolar disorder. It is a disease plain and simple. And if being from the 80s WAS a mental illness, then I count myself proudly among the ill.

  • kinda reminds me of keith flynt from prodigy... just not as flamboyant... either way adam ant is still awesome...

  • I still love adam ant! He's sooooo pretty!

  • Adam will be forever Beautiful he was my teen idol and will always be sexy n fabforever x x

  • He's so dashingly handsome I'd turn gay for him :D

  • Adam ant was so hot - what an awsome look! luv it.

  • Can't wait to see him on 21 of December! It's even my Birthday so what a nice present! I love Adam Ant.

  • i love this video .used to use tipex across my face haha

  • @TomaPartizani Bet that was a bitch to get off.

  • Adam look like actress Lee Remick

  • Adam and the Ants at their very best during the summer of 81, a very talented man and superb song..thank you for posting koolmix32

  • oh my god!!! he looks so fit in this video!!!! Totally love the song too :)

  • ahhhh 1981 a great time of new wave music. I would have given anything back then to have You Tube and watch all my fave music we just had to rely on records, smash hits and No.1 magazines. Then again i probably wouldnt have made the effort to go out and have a life

  • And what do they have today??... One Direction rofl xD

  • When I was at Primary School, everyone said that Adam Ant had 6 months to live cos of skin cancer caused by his make-up... Still doing well 30 years later I think.

  • wow, hows this for memory road.

  • Before Pirates of the Carribean... and obviously heavily inspiring the Captain Jack Sparrow Character!

  • Great music - good enough for No Doubt to cover.

Very creative considering when they came up with this sound and outfits.

  • one word 'GENIUS'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MusicForFilmmakers If you watch" the Madness of Prince Charming" doc onYT . You will be Blown Away by the fight Adam had to have to CREATE thes videos PRE MTV LOL ! I was lovin this stuff and Elvis Costello as a boy in here in Miami Best Times in a way pre 1983 or 4 I think dunno.. Cheers

  • Pure brilliance.

  • Gotta thank the writers of this song! I named my World of Warcraft guild "Dandy Highwaymen" as a tribute to Stuart/Adam and the Ants. So much great music!

  • @Darwinsmom

you make me wish I still played so I could join!!

  • 5 girls didn't finish before the video did

  • @death2utubenow: Talent is talent, although most of the most gifted people I know are burdened by mental health issues. I wish people would remember that these performers are selling us their talent, not their personal lives! I suspect his genius comes from the way he sees the world.

  • Anyone else remeber having to decide between being an Ant or a Mod?

  • Go Stuart Goddard!

  • good times.

  • amazing lov it

  • Man in a tri-corn hat jumping from tree, doesn't get much better than that.

  • LOL.. I always thought Johnny Depp was Adam lol... shows you what I dont know..hahahha how dumb can I get?

  • @Tiggerlett very dumb lol

  • @Tiggerlett Maybe Johnny Depp was bitten by a radioactive Adam Ant?

  • I would him SO hard.

    *Bites lip*

  • johnny depp had a great teacher

  • Love this song and drums. Brilliant and creative.

  • @Gyphia 'cos they are crap.' you sad little person :L you deciding something is crap doesn't make it so.

  • Member of the fan club here :)

  • stewart was a god and the best at that time

  • i was lucky and spent my teenage years in the 80s and every teenager wanted to be adam ant bloody terrific and the memories it drives my son nuts but i think he secretly enjoys it

  • @friginhell123 Despite what many people say, there are MANY of Great Britain's American Cousins that love the Ant. Hell friend, I'm only 25 and I was raised on Adam and the Ants! Keep going and STAND AND DELIVER I SAY!

  • @SlayerBus i'm not british i'm an aussie

  • First....yes I know Stewart. Second, idk what ur talking about. I saw them in concert in '82. That tour sold out every venue. ANT NATION WAS(and is) ALIVE AND WELL IN THE STATES!!! Even though Godard hasn't been here in a while!

  • So much fun to see this again as this was my favourite group almost 30 yrs ago..

  • best music in early 80's, you cant even define it. ant music is ant music , period....i wish they would have gotten the respect here in america. adam ant was a showman way before bono put on those ridiculous shades

  • @bryjag1965 sadly, antmusic is very british and so would not go down well in the states. british pop acts succeeding stateside need to have an international type of music. pleased there is an american taking an interest in this kind of stuff. nice one. don't know if you have checked out madness or the specialswho come form this period with a ska type music?

  • Back when music was real music.

  • do any of you know stuart goddard? i thought not, less of the ant bashing could be you in a few yrs.

  • LMAO :)

  • id love to see a live replay of this video with adam swweping into the boardroom bankers in the uk at this time.

    fits nicely :)

  • Adam Ant, like many of the most creative minds the world has ever seen, suffers from a mental illness. Mental illness is NOT a personal failing or weakness, but something over which they have no control. Lighten up on the bashing will you please? It clearly shows you to be a moron - something over which you DO have control!

  • @Darwinsmom I think it is very sad that a lot of people still think its funny to poke fun at mental illness. The media reaction to Adam Ant and his problems of a few years back was just terrible.

I still think he has a great talent and I just love his music.

  • @Darwinsmom So unfortunate that rational humans like Darwinsmom are few and far between.

  • @Darwinsmom what? being from the 80's is a mental illness? surely we are all doomed then?

  • To @Darwinsmom: Thank you for great comment!! Good to see there are people on here who don't feel the need to incessantly print ignorant hate-messages!

  • @Darwinsmom Personally, I think Adam ant was and still is the Errol Flynn of music . And he's a creative genius too.

And thumbs up for your comment!

  • @VinnyMonster1 I agree!

  • @Darwinsmom I wouldn't say he is mentally ill but a lot of really creative people tread a very fine line where sanity is concerned. But the thing is he enhanced all of our lives who were around at the time?

  • To @lewisner: Brilliant!! Are you a musician yourself? Or an actress? You know what this is all about!! Thank you!!

  • @Machru Not a musician and I am a man so deffo not an actress! But I have been a Siouxsie fan from 1978 and remember reading an interview with Adam in "Sounds" in 1980 and thinking "he sounds pretty cool". The last few months of 1980 were full of crazy great music in so many different styles - I guess it's coz I was young then but there never was a better time - you felt you were on the threshold of something big.

  • brilliant-a true English classic from a true English character-shame he went potty

  • Che periodo meraviglioso.........

  • IT IS SAD THE LEAD SINGER IS TOTALLY FCK UP WITH HIS MIND; IN THE 80'S WHEN I WAS AT SCHOOL; I WANT TO BE LIKE HIM..

  • GET THIS OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

  • hes changed. last time i was in london he was a baldin fat geezer threatening people in pubs with a fake gun

  • I wonder how long it takes to create the image of Adam Ant...?

  • Adam Ant was hot :-)

  • Sorry he is beautiful and talented. Ahead of his time for sound.

  • he's gone very " Deva" you know ;)

still ahead of his time though

    go! adam ! lol

  • Adam Ant made 18th Century fashion look so COOL and KICKASS. He was a mack, with all those pretty maidens in his vids. Back in the good ole days of REAL MTV 1981-86. Now all they show is pedophile teenybopper shows and CORNY reality shows. Unreal.

  • I love this guy! He's so beautiful. Blatantly the inspiration for Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow. Such a shame he went downhill :/

  • At 2:34, the guys on stage are wearing WW2 era American Army uniforms. Why is that?

  • the woman in the carriage is the actress Amanda Donahoe, Adam's then girlfriend. Lucky cow having a taste of that man!!

  • admited we all wanted to be a dandy hiwayman

  • sexiest man ever!!!

  • CAMP as a row of tents..!!

  • I like how Adam and his mates look back at the executioners (2:34). Like, "Yeah motherf***er --- that just happened! I'm wearing a poofy pirate shirt. Wanna start some shit?!?!?"

  • Man I love this video! Captures the 80's perfectly.

  • let there b drums!

  • punk pop needs more listeners. this is good

  • I loved this video in the 80s. I love it still!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a great song, and Gordon (Adam) has a wonderful voice!!!! Without it, the band would have gone nowhere!!!

  • great video: first time i saw it i was 10 years old.

  • Shame he's in the nuthouse now. Hope he gets better soon.

  • @brize9224 What do you mean?

  • @lcacwelder He was sectioned and admitted to a mental hospital on the 18th May 2010.

  • Oh one of my favorite songs when I was around 3

  • if you take adam ants wimpy assed voice away, this songs really rocks, badass drums.

  • @veritasrex66 it's his 'wimpy assed voice' that makes it so good and unique!

  • @deltaboy121 Ok, took another listen, and yes the voice is unique. But I believe without The Ants backing him up. The voice falls flat. Desperate But Not Serious,Prince Charming, and his other non-Ants stuff just doesn't have the power that this, and Kings of the Wild Frontier have.

  • @deltaboy121 Correction:Not Prince Charming,but Goody Two Shoes.

  • love dis song and i see where disney got jack sparrow from half and half

  • iam only 12, and a 90s child...but i love this song!

  • A Brilliant song love Shirls xx

  • PunkPop

  • I Love 80S tunes!! Who remembers "Glass Angels - Time for Love" I looked for it and cant believe it isnt on here.

  • love it he is rather fit isn't he!!

love the eyeliner -i agree he does pull it off!!

me and my mom where watching this and we both agrree he reminds us of johnny depp (better looking though!)

  • very good yes

  • Simply gorgeous...

  • i done this for my play in yr 5 Lool its soo good i like this song!!!!!!

  • He looked like the comedian wen he jumped off the tree :)

  • Aah...the good old days. I was so young and the very coolness of this blew my mind!

  • by diddly quak quak lol

  • yeah totally digging the jack sparrow look

  • This was way before Jack Sparrow. *Shun*

  • @MissMorticiaaa this is where jack sparrow came from

  • @zini12121

oh but hes why hotter! Adam that is...

  • respect to adam ant he took alot of shit off other groups when he first started thank fuck he does not care what people think of him

  • this was the music i listened to as a teen! i love it!

  • heard he's not doing well these days......anyone confirm?

  • his a recluse now and he suffers from Bi polar disorder

  • @mr199885- His website (youtube won't post it but a quick google search will find it) shows he's doing things (28 Mar 2010 in particular piqued my interest). Looks good for his age; with luck I'll be as thin when I read 56...)

  • I feel like Legs and Co will come out any minute now:-)

  • damn, the beginning of the video with him shirtless and putting on that war paint really did it for me..ufffff..he was so fuckin' hot

  • Capt. Jack Sparrow, savvy?

  • probs where he got some of the ideas for how to play Jack lol

  • In the 80's there were a lot of unique bands with fantastic images as well as songs. Such as shame that these days its pretty much all the same kind of Simon Cowell shit!

  • @MissVee17 well said there, the 80s had character, theres none now, all just RnB crap and people trying to be RnB

  • @MissVee17 - Seconded!!

  • @MissVee17 Agree entirely. The early to mid 80's was a golden era for music. There was a huge amount of talent & originality around. Adam & The Ants must rate as one of the finest bands for the era. Their video's are fantastic, colourful, atmospheric, entertaining, humourous-superb. It could be argued that they produced the finest video's in the 80's, only Duran Duran put a similar amount fo effort into their videos. Adam Ant= GREAT ENTERTAINER, come back & show Cowell & Co what REAL talent is!

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Spot on with your comments. Individuality is a word that has gone missing in the world of modern music, no one can say that about the 80's.

  • @MissVee17 That just shows your ignorance. There are countless numbers of undergound music bands, who are 'unique with fantastic images and songs.' Don't assume that something doesn't exist just because it isn't right under your nose.

  • @TaylorKinsley A fair comment! Sorry if I offended you x

  • @MissVee17 I wish i could give you more than just 1 thumbs up. :/

  • I remember watching Adam Ant on tv in the 80's. Loved him then and still love him!

  • he invented a new sound and the word;posh was born

  • he brought new wave and new punk era music :)

  • OH DIDDLEDE QWUA QWUA

  • Anyone notice Amanda Donahoe is in the back of the carrage in this vid, she was adams girlfreind in the early days and is now in the british soap Emerdale playing Natascha Wylde

  • very jack sparrow....or the other way around

  • i hope i managed to express the idea in the right way <.<
