  • Hey!! good job!!

    a quetion!!

can you copy music from your computer to your ipod??

  • @lobhoGil Thanks. :) I actually don't own an iPod. I used to have an iPhone, and it worked, but a bit slowly. It should be significantly better in newer versions of Ubuntu.

  • Hey!! good job!!

  • I am on linux, have been for a while, and i noticed the same problems of difficulties copying music to my ipod touch. i found that (mp3s only) will copy, but only about 3-5 at one time, which gets rather annoying because i have a lot of music. also the ipod doesnt say "sync in progress" whilst i am adding music, but it says it after rythembox has finished "adding the files". I know you uploaded this video quite a while ago but just something for people new to this to take into consideration

  • Anyone figure out how to ad video with out jailbreaking an ipod touch 3g?

  • I use Banshee with my iPod and it works like a charm

  • buddy it's as easy as ever to put music on your phone, just drag it from your library to where it says your iphone :-P

  • @princeoftides73 thanks! I'll give that a shot sometime soon and see if it works. I tried during this review, and it didn't work, but this was an early alpha.

  • @thisweekinlinux it does work but only files that are converted to AAC and you can't take music right from cd to phone

  • @princeoftides73 hmm, interesting. I did end up trying it again though, and mp3s worked just fine to copy over. My guess is Rhythmbox is doing the conversion on the fly.

  • SLIPKNOT ROCKS lol very good video twil

  • @strike4may right on, dude! thanks!

  • Wow didn't see that coming. Slipknot? haha. Well nice video twil. :]

  • @PasteLinux :) my musical tastes are wide and varied.

  • I can now sync to my iPod 2nd gen, using 10.04 RC. I followed this tutorial: {cant seem to copy the link :( } and then with the help of gtkpod I was able to copy music onto my iPod. And it was added into the library :D. I am using a jailbroken ipod touch 2nd gen, running 3.1.2 firmware.

  • @lordievader very nice, thanks for mentioning it. I've managed to be able to see my iPhone in Ubuntu, but syncing it hasn't worked yet.

  • Im having the same problem can someone help me sync?!

  • Dethklok!

  • Very interesting news indeed.

My wife Arianna upgraded to the iPhone 3Gs on Saturday, after we thought (and triple checked) we had lost her iPhone 3G at Panera Bread. They phoned last night to say that it was found.

We are debating keeping the 3G and using it as an iPod touch, so it would great if I could use it via Linux.

  • how about album art work?

  • I installed the mp3 codecs needed on my virtual machine, and it's not showing album artwork. most likely it's something to do with my mp3 albums or my virtualbox, because I don't believe it's showing up for local mp3s either.

  • My Droid is recognized by 9.10 :O)

I dumped my iPhone 3G the end of last year ... I dislike AT&T. But this will be good for my iPod Touch.

  • oh, trust me. when my contract on my 3GS runs out (next year sometime?) I very much intend to move to something different. probably something android based. of course 1 year makes a huge difference...

  • The Nexus Two ...lol ... that's what I have to wait for. I have to wait another 1 1/2 or so, so I can imagine what Android and the HW will be like then.

  • its weird that its not syncing. you could try it with gtkpod-aac in the repo's. i synced my ipod touch with it using gvfs

  • at some point I plan to set up the Ubuntu 10.04 alpha on an actual machine, so we'll see what happens with it then. it's entirely possible I don't have the right codecs installed to read the .mp3 and put them on the iPhone...

  • that would make sense

  • Which version of the iPhone firmware are you running?

  • I'm running version 3.1 right now, because I don't have enough desire to boot into Windows long enough to update the firmware. :)

  • I think with the introduction of the iPhones compatibility you can really see how Linux is rapidly growing.

  • I'm just concerned that Apple will notice and come up with a way to block it before 10.04 releases. Of course assuming you don't upgrade the firmware on your device, they can't exactly fix it. :)

  • I agree, though I hope Apple has the heart to let Linux users use their hardware.

  • honestly, it would be nice. they allow it to work on Windows. only reason I could see for them not allowing it on linux is the lack of iTunes and the upcoming Ubuntu Music Store...

  • Oh yea I forget about the Music Store, now it is looking quite doubtful...dang!

  • Hell yeah, one more step towards world domination :D

  • AWESOME

  • Black Eyed Peas, The Darkness and Deathklok? Very eclectic.

  • oh, I'm even more eclectic than that... if I'd scrolled on down you'd probably see Van Halen, Classical, tons of other stuff.

  • no way!! this is so AWESOMEEEEE!!

  • I'm totally pumped. watching the beginning of the video over it doesn't seem that way, but the iPhone is one of the things that was keeping me with a Windows partition on my laptop...

  • cool
