  • progresista modernista detected!!

  • Everything is good except the female dancers....i wonder who danced when Jesus went to garden of Gesthamene after Last super, not angels because their Lord was about to drink a chalice so bitter and they were praying...May be devils were dancing coz they were able deceive Judas and make him betray Jesus they thought our Lord was going to die and never rise...

  • PAGAN PAGAN PAGAN

  • this is not acceptable AT ALL,, this is not true Catholic rite..female lyrical dancers have never had ,do not have or will EVER have a place at the altar during mass for ANY reason,,plain and simple liturgical abuse

  • And I wonder why Ireland's national Television, Radio Telefis Erieann, would do something like this. I know that it's a part of Celtic culture, but please, not inside a Catholic Church, especially in Ireland.

  • This all failed in the 70ies why are we doing this again?

  • Ok armchair worship consultants, cool it already! The Pange Lingua chant is exquisite, the incense abundantly heavenly and the hearts of these young people in the procession seem truly contrite and sincere. Moreover, it is about reverance for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament rather than absolute liturgical correctness. Priorities are an order here.

  • @hike72653

No one is worshipping Jesus...Everyone would have been watching at this performance instead of praying..i bet...

  • @hike72653 It also has to be in accordance with the G.I.R.M.

  • This looks more like a scene from "The Wicker Man" than something you'd find in a Catholic church.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm..... nothing like a blaphemous liturgical abuse on the Holiest week of the year...

  • This looks like something from a wood nymph midnight ceremony. Sorry, I don't get this.

  • Disgutingly LIBERAL!!!!!

  • @1Hope4All Couldn't agree more!

  • Appalling!!!!!

  • It looks likes something out of a 60's 70's horror film

  • @maple1212, yes it does look like something out of a horror film! This is horrible!!

  • i don't think this is roman catholic, remember there are different catholic rites

  • @279cute This is just bad liturgy

  • Very unliturgical. This celebration is not a show, therefore, those women carrying torches with incense should be removed. Please study liturgy.

  • Sorry but I find this not liturgical. Solemnity and the presence of the Lord is there but with all due reverence to the presider, liturgist, congregation and the church itself, this is a show.

  • This looks like a pagan offering.... I just pray for the fall of Novus Ordo

  • Not Catholic at all--------looks like a coven, terrible, this is not the place for anything like this, what a joke to our 2,000 year old tradition of the Holy Mass---this is what Vatican II hath wrought!!!!!!!!!! No wonder millions have left the church

  • I think they are from the Order of Vestal virgins! That's what happens with Novus Ordo fabrication after fabrication.

Bad liturgy and even worse Theology!

  • We adore You Oh Christ and praise You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed this world.

  • No this is madness not Catholic.

  • Since it was Holy Thursday, the night before the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, I do agree that the procession itself should have been more solemn.

Having said that, the music - both instrumental and vocal - was truly beautiful.

  • @ScottyUrb Can we use some logic here? Daniel 9:24-2, Matthew 12:38-40 both support a mid-week Passover as well as the required three days and nights of Messiah being in the grave. Explain how he could have been in the grave the required three days and nights if he was crucified on Friday? Furthermore there was two Sabbaths that week the Holy day (unleavened bread [Passover is the 15 of Nisan and Passover the 15]) as well as the weekly Sabbath and then the Seventh day of unleavened bread.

  • OH....., There is no question concerning the female servers but the Liturgy. I may not be a liturgist but.,,, Why carry the Blessed Sacrament Without a canopy??? And Why is it that The ``Tantum Ergo Sacramentum`` Sung before reaching the altar of repose??? Somewhat Absurd...,, Dispensa Me,,

  • Comment removed

  • This is more Wiccan than Catholic. And the Bishop allows this?

  • One aspect of the liturgy was unusual, that is, young women holding horns of incense, yet the entire ceremony was extremely respectful. The church seemed full, unlike most US Catholic churches, now pretty devoid of parishoners.

  • This is disguisting!

  • Even though this is pure Idolotry that violin sure is beautiful and pnge lingua is one of my favourite Latin hymns even though the L-RD himself removed me from Paganism!

  • There is a lot of smoke here! way too much what about Health and Safety???

  • @jazz8188 Oh please.....no one ever got sick from church incense.....

  • @4902STEVEN Not true! A friend of mine who used to serve Divine Liturgy with me (In my teen years I became a member of a Ukrainian Catholic Church [which is in full communion with Rome]) Said that one Sunday (I was on Summer Holiday with my Family) the Roman Bishop was Visiting the Church and he Passed out because of the Incense (We later found out that He rarely uses Incense because of his Asthma)! Again I point out your Ignorance!

  • @4902STEVEN You've yet to show me how I am a bigot! I do not respect child molesting Pastors nor do any non perverted Catholic pastors either! I once said to a Pastor of a Catholic church that too bad it wasn't for the faggot's hiding behind the collar and their Bishop's as they are giving you who are not perverted a bad name! He totally agreed!

  • @4902STEVEN As I have said You have proven yourself not to be Knowledgeable and thus do not do the Church any justice, You are being held accountable to me as you are claiming knowledge of the church teachings and yet do not even know what the church teaches. When I correct you on What The Church Teaches and how it Contradicts scripture you remain Silent from making an intelligent rebuttal and resort to insults!

  • What an embarassing form of liturgical abuse. They take something sacred and beautiful, and turn it into, quite frankly, a contemporary stupid cheesy looking ritual thing.

  • Controversial? Not really. The music was top notch and reverent. The aspect from the ceremony is one of solemnity and reverence. The girls are very well rehearsed choreographed (if that is the word) quite well. Everything they do gives prasise and adoration.

  • what an amzing interperatation and inclusion of people in the ancient rites of our church! hpw else willl they be carried on if no one is exposed to them? i belong to st joan of rc church in minneapolis mn and i belive in the church and love the euchcarist but i also the beleve the lord has a plan for church< The Church

  • Well this is NOT any part of any thing. It is made up, not from the litergicon or Roman Ritual novus ordo or any orod. It is another form of liturgical abuse and frankly very disturbing.

  • Comment removed

  • It is Holy Thursday 2010 and I just watched this Vidieo, then I read the comments...WOW !!! What about setting the anger aside, on both side of the issue and listen to Jesus Ccommandment: LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS THE FATHER LOVES YOU>>>And then WATCH AND PRAY!

  • @juancito654 Agreed, except no one has the right to change the liturgy. Just like Jesus threw over the tables while the money changers were selling goods. I mean who were they hurting? No one really. But, Jesus nonetheless was angered by it. This is abuse. What is next, send in the clowns?

  • I am frankly shocked by the negative comments here, the liturgy and the traditions for this day vary greatly aroung the world. Its a wonderful thing to see young people participating in the liturgy.

  • looks like a damn pagan ritual

  • Weird. Is this Catholic?

  • @dialyt55 Yeah

  • @jesusboy1997 I was being sarcastic. Lol. But it has a pagan feel to it. I am glad we don't have such things in my own parish.

  • @dialyt55, NO IT'S NOT AND I'M DISGUSTED!! They might say it is but it's not!

  • Ab illo benedicaris in cujus honore cremaberis , ( blessing the incense after being added to the thurible).I'm surprised at the number of people who aren't aware of the tremendous differences around the world that were part of church tradition even prior to the vernacular Mass. The origins of using incense, historically , would shock some. The common folk had to take their livestock to church with them , or lose them. Neither the faithful nor the animals had a pleasant odor . Picture it .

  • And people wonder why there's a vocational crisis in Ireland? Is this why the Irish fought tooth-and-nail for centuries to keep their Catholic faith?

  • Oh my, from reading the comments, only one

thing can be said: How we do hate each other.

Ask yourself this question: "What would Jesus

    say? What would Jesus do?"

  • @commander901 I could not agree more. Jesus would be happy that the young people had been included. Thank you.

  • Although quite a purist when it comes to liturgy, I am not quite so horrified about this as others. One must remember that Irish Catholicism is deeply rooted in Celtic Christianity, which adapted many of it's ancitent rites diretcly rom the Celtic Paganism. It is an interesting method of using incense in this way, rather than a thuribol, but it by no means takes away from the significance of the ceremony.

  • oblate 21 you are insane this is totaly pagan and lacks santity it looks like a greek roman pagan ritual or ceremony its just matter of sence

  • Hmm, interesting. I always loved Pange Lingua, and the journey to the Altar of Repose, but this looks more like River Dance. It's not offensive, but seems oddly out of place.

  • The only legitimate complaint that anyone can make with regard to this video is one of aesthetics, with respect to the additional thurifers. There is no abuse demonstrated in this clip under present Canon Law or particular law. I'm not particularly impressed with the additional incense bearers; I have seen better done with fewer, better trained dancers, but that is purely a matter of personal taste. Any other claim, (lacking sanctity/ "abuse") is unfounded, unwarranted, and self-righteous.

  • Then again with the current events in the Irish Church and what has to be its greatest crisis ever, this is frankly a mere blip on the radar screen. The Church appears to be wishing its own death.

  • i think these girls look like shhhhhhhluts .. especially the front 2 as they walk down !!

  • I am an American Catholic who is neither traditionalist nor modernist, but I have to say that benediction looks pagan! very pitiful

  • Indeed... this is vwry pagan. many priests disregard the sanctity of the Liturgy... they do too many creativity which is not in accordance with what the Holy Mother Church is saying. Taht's why I am now becoming a traditionalist, because I am already sick with liturgical abuses. AMDG

  • dbreidenbach-The problem here goes very deep indeed. I agree that the biggest is the complete disregard of sanctity is the problem, but it isn't the only problem. The others are the difficulty understanding what and who the church serves! Not us-HIM. Do this in memory of ME-not do this because I think you can do it better! If it weren't so heartbreaking, it would be funny! His will not ours. Oh don't get me started or I'll start cursing in Latin!

  • It is silly and disrespectful at the very least/ What are those girls supposed to be? Vestal Virgins or just silly girls being led astray by a church that no longer has a clue what it supposed to be about? Either way it's a mess.

  • A mess at the least. I'm not sure what this is supposed to be, but it's pretty unorthodox. Gross!!!!!

  • Maybe I am too young, but I don't understand what is wrong in the video?

  • This is in Mayo??? I am an American but my ancestors are from Mayo and my family is ARDENTLY Traditional. I am shocked to see this in Ireland, the land I was always told was faithful to the Church. I thought things were bad here in the US, but I guess liturgical abuse is rampant all over western Christianity. I beg our Blessed Mother's forgiveness.

  • In the modern way of the Vatican II, it is the same thing but there is a canopy covering the blessed sacrament!!! Amen!!!

  • It looks quite silly, I would rather a more formal procession. That is why I attend a Traditional parish, In dublin that option has been made possible by the Archbishop. I refere to St Kevins parish, where mass in the extraordionary from is celebrated every Sunday. At the very least I know that silly things, like in this video, will not happen there. Liturgical abuse is very bad in this country.

  • Looks like a druid worship service...

  • una orrenda paroidia della liturgia cattolica

  • condivido pienamente

  • I prefer a more traditional one!

I think this is so OA.

  • vergogna !!!!!!!!!!!!!

NON HO MAI VISTO NULLA DI SIMILE ! QUELLO NON DOVEVA NEANCHE FARE IL PRETE !

  • A RC cathedral should know that on Holy Thursday that after the Gloria the organ (and instruments) are to be silent. Obviously they like to "do their own thing" up in Mayo.

  • @jsrepasky So where did you go to Seminary? Music is most certainly allowed for the adoration and procession of the Blesssed Sacrament. Traditions for this day vary from country to country and this has been the case for centuries.

  • it's ok, concentrate on the important stuff people, not whether girls are allowed to carry incense.

  • Obedience is very important

  • another abuse

  • like ancient greek pagan

  • Another great liturgical abuse. Great..

    >:-[

  • I consider myself an oldfashioned Catholic, I love all the traditioanl masses, novenas, etc, but this was a little out of the ordinary even for me, I'm all for interpretive dance and self expression but not during one of the most sacred rituals of our faith

  • @hjlipinski I´m tottally with you!

  • @hjlipinski I don't know. I have seen a lot of liturgical daning. This is more like

coordinated processing rather than a dance. They are very well rehearsed. And their facial expressions reflect the solemnity of the occasion.

  • @4902STEVEN I see you have blocked me! Well once you stop Masturbating to teen girls acting immorally and start studying I will be happy talk with you! You have yet to prove how I am a bigot! You are ignorant, that is what your Problem is!

  • @MenechemShaul Everyone: I did a little asking around, cos I do not remember viewing "Teen Girls Dancing" Turns out one of my teen daughters was looking for a posting by a girl at her school. It showed up as me because my name is always logged into Youtube. Now that I have gone to the bother to explain myself to someone to which I am not accountable. I don't know what business my kids activities is to anyone else out here. I await an apology..........tick tock......

  • @4902STEVEN You expect me to believe this with what the comments say?! Give me a break! When someone like you does not even know Church Doctrine and is passing himself off as knowledgeable I find this extremely hard to believe! I should be the one awaiting an apology, you do not quote sources I am able to disprove you while I quote my sources if needed and then you resort to insults as you cannot come up with an educated response! Give me a break You deserve nothing from me!

  • @4902STEVEN My point was quite clear, You do not have godly kids OBVIOUSLY and you are not godly!

  • @hjlipinski Totally agree.

  • Wow...boo on using incense girls!!

Focus on Our Lord and the solemn occasion! totally distracting.

    Beautiful hymn though.

  • This looks like pure, unadulterated pagan style worship. However well intentioned it was, it's awful and has no place in catholic practise. It's really quite sickening actually.

  • may the divine justice be upon us all, that includes you and may... who o earth is sinless let him cast a stone first. If you really in hell, your fingers should not be typing the words you tyoped in this comment. may you find peace in your heart.

  • and may you keep supporting a faith that does not respect or protect the children. Wolves in sheeps clothing.

  • Pange Lingua gloriosi é um dos mais belos canticos eucaristicos. Mas o ritual aí usado é uma abuso grave contra o Santíssimo Sacramento, Fruto podre pós conciliar e modernista liderado pelo herege Paulo VI.

  • "modern liturgy lacks dignity ,solemnity sacredness and order..."

I've long preferred the old Latin Mass, but this - in the context of the novus ordo- is actually quite dignified, reverent and beautiful. Psalm 150: "..praise Him with timbrel and DANCING." Hardly a "new" notion apparently.

  • The song is the hymn "Pange linguam," sung plane, in Gregorian mode. The choreography is a real horror, because to the act takes pity and attention devoted to the worship of the Blessed Sacrament

  • que horror!!! a qviene esta coreografia???

  • hello, does anyone know the name of this song?

  • Truly this looks more like ancient pagan worship with those females rounding the altar, not very Catholic at all

  • The errors of modernism are apparent in this liturgy, it is not the same as my parish celebrates it, with 2 thurifers and a slow solemn procession to the chapel and Altar of Repose, Know i know why the SSPX was formed

  • Do you reject the early Christian liturgies in the catacombs as well???

  • Actually i don't, cause they were an organic development into the Roman Rite, modern liturgy lacks dignity, solemnity, sacredness and order, two things St.Paul said are essential

  • If you studied the Missal, you would not say that.

Weird that some people put themselves above the Church authority and still claim to be "Catholic", more like Luther-copycats

  • Oh this is just fantastic. More liturgical madness in the Conciliar Church.

  • the lord said unto his aposasils "wait with me watch and pray" that is what holy thursday is all about waiting watching and praying

  • did a little research on the subject this is an ancient irish tradition

  • i really don't see the big deal about this act. I actually think its pretty cool! but then again i'm not catholic, so i guess you all have your won reasons for supporting or opposing this "dance" i for one would like to hear both sides of it. so don't hate me, i'm just curious.

  • Circus!!!

  • The procession with the dancers didn't look traditional, and for Holy Thursday, Holy Week, the most sacred time for the church calendar, just did't feel right. At my parish, the eucharistic ministers join in the procession with lit candles, while one of our priests holds the incense and our other one holding the Blessed Sacrament. No funny stuff included. However, the Pange Lingua is the besy on youtube! Loved it.

  • hermoso

    aleluya

  • i love how you think you are being clever, but i don't see how you can call a religion that has produced 2000 years of systematic thought and shaped western culture meaningless bullshit...you better hope your right and we are wrong, because if we are right, thats what sets us apart from scientology and pagan religions...the truth

  • also, while i think its improper, in this age maybe we could speak at least a single word of thanksgiving that young people are participating in a service to honor the Blessed Sacrament, confused though some of their liturgical actions may be.

  • While i agree that the liturgical dancing is improper in the mass, I don't see how the fact that they are female has anything to do with it. Its comments like that that scare people away from traditional catholicism, which I happent to hold dear. Vatican II and the Church never made any provisions for this kind of liturgical dancing, but they have had female altar servers for a long time now and don't require women to cover their heads.

  • circus maximus!

  • Holy Thursday should be a holy and sacred time as we are about to enter the most sacred part of our catholic calender this looked like a nice mass but the dancers didnt fit in

  • it's a shame that Christ in the Sacrament is abused like this. liturgical dancers? chalices of incense? I think this church needs to consult their GIRM for proper procedure with the incense and reverence towards the Sacraments. In the old Mass [Missal of 1962], females weren't even allowed in the Church unless they had veils on their heads... and they would have NEVER gone near the Altar.

The music is well done, though.

  • Tell me what page of the Sacramentary this appears on.... what is wrong with these people!? another fine example of liturgical abuse.

  • Where is this in the ritual? Beautiful but not correct.

  • If Jesus knew crazy people like this would be dancing around his Altar... enough said...

  • liturgical dancers....

  • We worship and adore you, Jesus, TRULY present in the Blessed Sacrament on the altar.

  • More rotten fruit from Vatican II. This looks more like a pagan ritual with vestal virgins.

  • ....I was sooooo moved by this vidio....I feel compassion for people who are upset today and feel a need to voice their disconfort on not being liturgically correct about music and other things of the liturgy on this vidio....The people of this vidio are worshiping GOD in a beautiful way...with elavorated expressions of their love for the Eucharistic Jesus.

I could hear Jesus' voice saying to all of us who have written in here today (myself incluted)

    "be silent...KEEP WATCH and PRAY..."

  • Now I understand why Jesus suffered so much. Even on the evening before 'we' are going to crucify Him, they still worship other gods and in the middle of them, He has to be present and watch His own priests organise this.

  • Instruments are forbiden of Holy Thursday after Gloria... This is horrible. In the moment when we should comemorate Christ's arrest in the Garden of Getsemani, we are watching some sort of roman pagan dance?

  • latin, genuflections, incense= crap, even though they are part of the novus ordo Mass too?

I knew this stupid person who was a douchebag sasquach who used to say such things....

  • HOW TRUE!

  • this is a shame and looks more like a pagan ritual than a holy mass

  • Svatý Patrik toto vidět, vezmu berlu a tu peleš lotrovskou vypráská z chrámu.

    Co to je ohavnou odpornost?

Bída Novus Ordo v celé své nahotě.

  • What was that? Would you mind repeating that in English? It's not that I'm against you speaking your native Tongue, but I just can't understand what you wrote - and since I'm assuming you want people to know what you're saying, English would probably help a lot of us understand.

  • This seems very wrong :( Who is the liturgist? I'm all for female altar servers-- but those are liturgical dancers.

  • Vestal Virgins, violins playing Pange Lingua, nice vestments. Yep that about sums it up. Shit and they wonder why no one shows up anymore.

  • There is no need for altar servers to be males. Have you not noticed that the males hardly want to serve? Girls are more willing! However what I just saw in this video is disturbing indeed.Knowing that Holy Thursday is such a solemn night the dance with those incense things is going overboard with the liturgical fanfare. It detracts from the solemnity of the rite.

  • I think JESUS himself would have been disgusted with male bigotry. Our Lord's closest & loyal followers were women.

  • Could have been done well, but was nt!

  • Get the girls out of the sanctuary. Only men can be priests. Only boys can grow up to be fathers. Give the boys a taste of what they might become, and stop giving the girls false hopes. Not only is this a liturgical abuse, it looks absolutely stupid.

  • Their gender is irrelevant. The dopey dancing is hilarious. How did people keep a straight face?

  • Liturgical abuse.

  • Liturgical abuse.

  • Liturgical abuse.

  • We need more male acolytes. That is why I prefer the term "Altar boys" instead of acolytes or altar servers. I've known it as "Altar Boys" for many years and we should go back to saying it that way.

My nephew is an altar boy and he has said that it is important to be a priest. I pray that one day he can hear God calling him and that he actually becomes a priest one day. I think he might have already heard God.

    Peace & God bless.

    Sandy

  • I agree except i dont think that I am being called to become a priest

  • To trev1619;

True, not all altar boys are called to be priests. But it is still a privilege to serve at a Mass. Both my brothers were altar boys and only one of them stayed in the Church. The other is now a pagan. Please pray for him? Thanks so much.

    Peace & Love in Christ.

    Sandy

  • You are absolutly right. It is a privilege to serve at the mass, and I enjoy every minute of it. That is why I am serving the Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday Service and the Easter Vigil starting tomorrow. Between those and Christmas and all the masses in between I really do enjoy serving. However I have decided to retire after next year, because I will be going into college and it may because to hecktic. Thanks

I am the same person (trev1619 just a different account name)

  • simply beautiful

  • Weird - but they did separate the gyrating ladies from the liturgical procesion by placing the cross-bearer behind them. The singers should be unaccompnied at this point of the Holy Thursday ceremony. Overall, vaguely pagan.

  • one quick question. if everyone is downing female alter servers, why are nuns alright? as stated before, i'm not catholic, but would like to be so i'm just asking questions in search of answers. i myself am like 49/51 on female alter servers.

  • It's this way because during the holy sacrifice of the mass there si to be absoltely no way possible for an "evil" thought to be processed. Speaking in terms of "evil" I mean 'lust'. For example, if there's one male and one female 'altar server' on the altar, there is some chance that the boy could be taking his mind off the miracle that is about to be performed right before him and focus on something lustful or vice versa. It's not appropriate and it is very disrespectful.

  • See i get it now it is so simple that i missed it! wow.

alright then. so how come women can't be like pastors and positions of that sort, as long as the church or parish has all women serving on the alter?

  • What if the women in the congregation are distracted by the altar boys.

I'm not a fan of female altar servers, but your logic doesn't follow.

  • There is quite a differance of someone having an impure thought in the congregation than an acolyte having an impure thought in the sanctuary.

  • No women should be up on the altar. This was the liberals who planted this nonsense. The Church has always gained vocations to the priesthood through Male altar servers. This many times is what sparked and led them to become priests. Until this abuse is eliminated, I'd would wholeheartedly suggest people attend the traditional Latin Mass. This is where one receives the Plentitude of graces!

  • One thurible (two if possible) while in procession walking in front of the Blessed Sacrament, alternating 3 censes toward the Blessed Saracrament while walking to the altar of repose. Also, what is that crazy dance they're doing around the sacrifical altar before the procession?
