Because if no one bought his shit he would have just given up, we wouldn't hearing his horrible music. But people keep buying/ supporting his music so he's always on the radio/ tv etc. Same goes for any other garbage rapper that gets popular.
There's something wrong with the society that only supports records that get bought - those who buy it a trapped in the system and still keeping it up.
Nas is always Telling the Truth. Of course everyone should have known hip-hop was dead BEFORE this song.
I have lost all my respect for the mainstream and their fans for the past couple years, and I will never listen to the Radio again. Matter of fact, I will spray paint my local radio station to teach them a lesson for playing That Garbage.
Nas is not telling the truth. He is an old dinosaur that refuses to accept reality and inevitability - his generation of rap and hiphop has made way for the new generation of rap hiphop. If he is smart, he will just ride into the sunset. Go out on top, not go out crying like a bitch.

The word "hip" was used as African American Vernacular English (AAVE) as early as 1898. The colloquial language meant "informed" or "current," and was likely derived from the earlier form hep[4]. The term "hip hop" also followed logically the previous African-American music culture of "Bebop".[citation needed]
Why would you come to a video just to copy and paste some bullshit off Wikipedia?? It doesn't make you seem any more intelligent, it makes you look like a cunt
Hip means to know It's a form of intelligence To be hip is to be up-date and relevant Hop is a form of movement You can't just observe a hop You got to hop up and do it Hip and Hop is more than music Hip is the knowledge Hop is the movement Hip and Hop is intelligent movement All relevant movement We selling the music
in my opinoion, black music in general is dying. we are too concerned with making money and trying to get back the riches stolen from us decades ago that we have lost sight of the true meaning of music. I'm just 16years old and i don't get al this soulja boy nonsense, i mean really 'kiss me thru the fone', is he sang that rubbish to me i would hang up.
This song is about how hip hop isnt like it used to be. It was a underground thing, now it become a serious business. The title is a fucking metaphor.
u don't even know what you talking about!!nas don't need no publicity because he got that long time ago.listen to what he says, and understand what he's rapping bout before u go to your own conclusions!!!
you misunderstood, i love hip hop,i hate rap...theres a difference, hip hop is what you said but dont say people like 50 cent or lil wayne are hip hop, they are pathetic rappers that say they are hip when they aint, all they talk about is fucking bitches getting money and killen thats it, hip hop has more to it
yes HIP HOP is DEAD and FUCK..... FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP FUCKING HIP HOP
no u don't understand , there played on radio, soulja says nas killed hip hop which makes no fuckin sense, there fake ass wanabes wth only kids as fans
i dont see it anywhere here but i think thats its rly fucking important..the music(instrumental part) is taken(or stolen?) from iron butterfly-in da gadda vida pls notice it..
You want some resurrections for today? Atmosphere, Hieroglyphics, Aesop Rock, Immortal Technique (this guy can have a very boring flow + beat at times, along with Aesop) Blue Scholars, Sage Francis, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Tech N9ne, Trae, Z-ro, The Roots, Wu-Tang Clan, along with their members, KRS-One, Jay-Z, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco Ludacris, Outkast, and much, MUCH more.
Rap is alive and well. It has never died, and never will. Never judge anything on the surface.
Is it just me, or do you find it ironic that the front man for the wack eyed peas is talking about hip hop being dead? The same guy responsible for "Hey Mama", "My Humps" and "Let's Get It Started" Nigga Please!!
this song is great but but i tihnk theres antoher reaso nas made tihs is cuz hes not used thsat much any more its gud thtas he still in the gmae but i jsut tihnk his turn is done
im 15 and so depressed and a bit angry at that stupid-ass rap comin out now. I mean my frend and i wer talking and he was like "man the best rap is 1st lil wayne, then T.I" n i waas lyk wtmf about "Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Dre, Em, Snoop?" so i lost it when he replied "T.I is much better than Tupac". it also depresses me that only me and 2 other friends of mine still listen to them avidly. I deleted all the crappy ass wannabees and replaced them with Biggie, Pac, Dre & Snoop, Em, and Nas on my iPod.
i like nas, but he need to stop sayin hip hop is dead. i mean, jigga got a new album comin out this year, shady got a new album comin out this year, dre supposedly got a new album comin out this year, lupe droppin his last album, camron got a new album comin out, jadakiss just dropped a descent album, a movie bout biggie smalls just went mainstream, so hip hop look strong to me
it is true. I hate to say it. i mean come on soulja boy, lil wayne and all these crap weezy artists there albums hit the top within a couple of days. ok u can say em did that also but em in his track isnt talking sense.. its a great track though but comparing them to nas, pac, biggie, even snoop hes nothing. look at jadakiss his album was sick but didnt make it to the top. HIPHOP is dead, lets just hope everyone comes togeva to mke a MEGA REAL HIPHOP track and liven it up for the years to come.
Hip hop ain't dead ... it just went underground until it's ready to come back to the top. The new generation should be here any time now.

Just like Jay z is doing with the death of autotune nonsense!
No doubt mainstream couldn't get any dumber but maybe you should switch of MTV & find those dope songs that you 'claim' to appreciate.
You want mainstream to have meaning again? Buy there records then & change the record companys idea of what sells.
Just to point out also, it's a fantastic song from Nas!

This song is about how hip hop isnt like it used to be. It was a underground thing, now it become a serious business. The title is a fucking metaphor.

Hip hop can't die! It won't be new old school hip hop, but the old shit will always be there.
Nas only said that to get publicity. He don't know shit what he's talking about.
greenpeacemyass 2 years ago
u don't even know what you talking about!!nas don't need no publicity because he got that long time ago.listen to what he says, and understand what he's rapping bout before u go to your own conclusions!!!
rawkid30i 2 years ago
He had publicity, but suddenly nobody gave a fuck about him. Then he had to do something to get some focus on him.
(!!!)
greenpeacemyass 2 years ago
dumbass nas is old school, ur comment is conflicting
patsrock93 2 years ago
I don't like Nas' music, because he start talking shit for attention.
greenpeacemyass 2 years ago
hip hop was all about having fun now its about fucking bitches owning guns, and hustling, which is pretty damn pathetic
KKReviews 2 years ago 2
Well, yeah. But what does that have to do with this?
greenpeacemyass 2 years ago
maybe because this is a hip hop song
IamLEGEND991 2 years ago
how is that pathetic hip hop is about expressing your thoughts and real feelings on beats. its about movements not that commercial bullshit.
f4hkrayzie 2 years ago
you misunderstood, i love hip hop,i hate rap...theres a difference, hip hop is what you said but dont say people like 50 cent or lil wayne are hip hop, they are pathetic rappers that say they are hip when they aint, all they talk about is fucking bitches getting money and killen thats it, hip hop has more to it
KKReviews 2 years ago 2
Thats rap, Hip-hop is bigger then that, its a culture.
Real people know that hip-hop didn't die, just the surface can't handle shit, now so we kept her underground.

people like lil wayne and solja boy is killing hip hop
talaliscool 2 years ago 2
Never judge anything on the surface.
gittygittygoo1012 2 years ago 2
Is it just me, or do you find it ironic that the front man for the wack eyed peas is talking about hip hop being dead? The same guy responsible for "Hey Mama", "My Humps" and "Let's Get It Started" Nigga Please!!
ForceFagerstorm 2 years ago
Thats Pop music, not Hip hop. The Black Eyed Peas dont pretend to make hip hop either.

im 15 and so depressed and a bit angry at that stupid-ass rap comin out now. I deleted all the crappy ass wannabees and replaced them with Biggie, Pac, Dre & Snoop, Em, and Nas on my iPod.
hewenthatway 2 years ago
why do you add dre, snoop, and em to the same list of big pac and nas?
teacherofculture 2 years ago
Dre and Snoop wer the shit yo. they wer a diff kind of hip/hop than nas n big n pac but they wer the shit
hewenthatway 2 years ago
i like nas, but he need to stop sayin hip hop is dead. i mean, jigga got a new album comin out this year, shady got a new album comin out this year, dre supposedly got a new album comin out this year, lupe droppin his last album, camron got a new album comin out, jadakiss just dropped a descent album, a movie bout biggie smalls just went mainstream, so hip hop look strong to me
bk000000 2 years ago
He means real hip-hop.Not Mainstream shit about bitches with big tits
AmazonianViper 2 years ago 3
Lupe is releasing an album, but it's not his final one. He's said that he's releasing his new album 'The Great American Rap Album' in June.
salle121 2 years ago 2
