have to admit , not only the music ,as well does the Irish Whisky appeal to me ^^

  • The Scots have kilts and bagpipes, the Brits have castles and chivalry, but the Irish have , folklore, music and poetry. Oh and whiskey. Can't forget the whiskey. ;P

  • What should I buy a Overton or Burke whistle?

  • i like your playing

  • ..I want one soooo bad. Where do I buy one of these??!?

  • try out dixon whistles!

for beginners it might be a good thing. good prices and i think and pretty easy to play!

  • i love irish music and i have irish ancestors from county armagh i gonna visit one day

  • well played

  • Hey, do you know if it is possible to play fully chromaticaly on a standard tin whistle?

I was thinking it might be possible by only half covering some of the holes when you are playing.

  • @kratanuva725 Yes, it is possible to do that by half-holing, and though I'm not an expert on the tin whistle, I'd say that this technique requires a bit more skill, since it's easy to be a bit sharp or flat if you misjudge how much of the hole to cover.

  • it can be done, and the theory is correct however the technique of it is quite cumbersome. That's why there are so many differently keyed whistles and why most celtic music is performed in D or G.. you can usually accomodate one extra sharp(just cause whistles are usually sharped keys) by putting tape over half of one of the holes but that then affects the intonation of the holes around it..play with it and see what you like. as long as it sounds good you're on the right track.

  • Great playing, but you have given it a shuffle feeling which makes it become a hornpipe. Remember that it is still a reel.

  • hi Hler, I gotta disagree with you. I used to "hornpipe" reels badly, so I'm familiar with the effect. I don't think it's happening here.

  • I "Cooley's Hornpipe" the hell out of this one. Lends itself better to the hornpipe rhythm imho.

  • Your YouTube profile picture showing your low tin prompted me to click on your channel. Excellent tin whistle performances!! Love them.

  • That was beautiful! Lovely timing. I haven't heard anyone play it quite that way in a long time.

  • ah nice. i'm thinking of getting on overton. do you have a standard or customized? you seem to be hitting the high B (C# on this whistle, right?) pretty easily. I've heard you REALLY have to lean into it to get into the high end. is that true or is it more subtle than "really"?

  • beautiful!! really well done!!

  • Real Men play tin whistle haha I loved every second of it sweetie

  • @tonugetwister007 Then I'm a real man. =)
