I think CO2 injection demands ENERGY !!!! IN the first place algae need sun and open space and they will take more CO2 out of the atmosphere on a natural way and will grow faster WITHOUT input of extra nergy (pumpsystem) : use big waterpools wich are not deep so there is always contact with sun and air (and therefore CO2). SO my conclusion : don't use direct natural industrial outgas. Or am i wrong ?
@TheBSideDJ The CO2 can be injected from sources that create it as a by product such as coal plants that won't be closed any time soon. The gas is less dense and as such travels through the system with out large pumps. The injection of CO2 increases growth by 10-40x compared to natural CO2 injestion in non urban areas. Large surface area pools are better then deep systems but are also much more costly to build and use more space. Fiberoptics and fluid rotation accomplish the same thing.
@Pelencho Inefficient? you think you know better than Exxon Mobil engineers? they have a massive Algae plant capable of large scale, profitable biofuel production, they can put a barrel of biofuel in the market for $80. Wait until Crude goes to $300, there will be only Algae
algae is a natural solution for the man-made problem of the planet earth! Support this kind of research! A pool of algae!
