As I kid I played a lot of FF7. When I reached Cosmo Canyon there was something so surreal about the visuals, music, and that particular point in the storyline.
I got pretty sick one day and I took one of my mother's candles and sat in the middle of the living room on the hardwood floor while imagining that I was having my own fire with a crew of the characters. My mother said she had never seen me so calm and so relaxed; a serene child bathing in tranquility.
@momsylf haha you rock, I had to hide this game from my mom when I was little. I didnt have a memory card so I had to throw a blanket over the red light so no one would know the playstation was on when I went to school haha
Wow, I remember knowing this song was awesome, but somewhere I forgot how awesome. Oh the memories coming back to me... life was more simple, more magical
I was listening to Ray Lynch - Celestial Soda Pop and it has a part in there that sounds just like a part in this tune - GREAT Surprise at work :D Check it out. Bugenhagen approves.

@TrueGameFreak nah thats in FFX or FFX-2 you can kill a boss with Pheonix Down cuz the boss is an Undead serpent that u fight underwater, not FF7 lol =p <<-----mmm...k...i guess there is a boss u can kill with a potion not a pheonix down, wtf i killed everything the normal way :((
You know, I learned a lot from these comments, such as... Wtf? You can use a phoenix down on the boss here? I barely kill him, with one person alive, and now I JUST find out you can use a phoenix down?!!?!?!?!?
@noobpwnager Phoenix down didn't work for me dude. But yeah, a couple of tough healing spells and hi-potions = piece of piss. I didn't know that the first time. Still, it paled in comparison to Demon Gate the first time round. I thought I'd be forever trapped in the temple of the ancients. But not the last time, no. HAHAHAA! I took the time to learn Aeris' ultimate limit break; invincibility baby! Sure she dies, but it was worth it just to wipe the smirk off that overgrown cat-flaps face.
@iirfaithless lmao i just had yuffie and used throw and i baught a bunch of higher weapon copies and just kept throwing a bunch of them lol. was ironicly effective..all this talk means imma go start a new game RIGHT now. i love it when my FF7 blood kicks in and i play the game again...and again..never gets old ive lost count of how many times lol
@iirfaithless well i have the non greatest hits version of the game and they have a couple of tiny changes in the game and i think the phoenix down being effective on the boss doesnt work anymore because it works for me just fine and i have non greatest edition disks. also apparently Cloud gets gang raped in a bathtub at the mansion in the beginning and i dont..ever remember that happening the first time i played(first time was greatest hits edition) lol it scared me and scarred me ;-;
Man... this game was amazing. Hard to think I was a freshman in High School when I played this. Still my favorite game and soundtracks of all time. FF VII saved the playstation.
I've played FF VII so long ago... PSX, PS2, on my old PC, now i've made the "impossible" to run it on Win7, and... It'll be allways the same... Fantastic, epic, there are no words capable to glorify THIS GAME, story, sound, all this emotions... When i hear this soundtrack there are allways tears in my eyes...
Definitely my favorite FFVII track. Used Red XIII extensively throughout my latest playthrough. He's my bro, and this song takes me back to when I first played the game.
FF8 wasn't very deep. FF7 had loads going on, you got FF7, crisis core, Avant children, Dirge, Dirge: Lost Chapter, Before Crisis, and still there's room for expansion.
I mean I want a game set before Crisis Core that expands on Genesis & Angeal.
FF 7 fanboys have such a narrow prspective. the turn base fights are boring and heve no action in them. ff 7 looks like crap(even when it orginally realesed) cut scences are not the games graphics nor are the pre render background you cant even interact with that background cause its 2d. ff7s story and characters were compared to other games crap. so ff7 fanboys admit it, get, over it, that slap yourself 1 time for every ridiculous claim youve made about ff7 being 1 of the best games ever
Most important part in the game if you want to be powerful. Stock up on HP Materia early, getting 1000 gold from the triceritops near the blownup reactor. It makes the game too easy though. Wait, how do I remember this?
One of the most memorable FFVII tracks ever for me... it makes me wanna set up a campfire and start doing tribal dancing around it... dunno why.
I remember when I was 11 and first borrowed this game from a friend... when I got to Cosmo Canyon I kept the game running in the menu for about 3 hours, I was so mesmerized by the music I just didn't want to play on... but then I did.
And fought the boss inside the "regular" way, when I found out a Phoenix Down could kill it i got pissed. Memories.
Hey man if you like this song then i highly recommend this album by a band called Ancient brotherhood called vortex rhythms music of sedona!! this album reminded me of this song!
@YinYang19 lol yea they usually give you that hard boss with easy solution ..a phoenix down can kill the fake president on the train in final fantasy 8 as well. i accidently used it on him when i was 9 a year after the game came out instead of reviving renoa and i was like WTF JUST HAPPENED.
@YinYang19 i've played this game for over 10 yrs now.. one of my favorites.. and i still didnt know till now that u can kill him with a phoenix down ahahah
@YinYang19 i've played this game for over 10 yrs now.. one of my favorites.. and i still didnt know till now that u can kill him with a phoenix down ahahah
@YinYang19 i've played this game for over 10 yrs now.. one of my favorites.. and i still didnt know till now that u can kill him with a phoenix down ahahah
I wonder would and E blues harp be good playin' this? My friend picked the tune out on my guitar t'other day and I wanted to sit round a huge fire with all my friends under the stars.
i dont know how the hell they've done it but every song of FFVII makes so sad and brings back so many memories....the world of FFVII it may not have the graphics but with a masterpiece story and a magnificent combination of sound made u feel like you knew that world for LIFE..:'(
At this point in the game, I felt like I was in a Native American setting because of the music, which I thought was a pretty awesome effect to achieve.
On a side note, the dungeon here scared the crap out of me when I was little, especially the contorting rock face at the end of it.
@YoungBloodX i still like final fantasy 8 the best... FF7 was great, but people really needlessly hate on FF8 for no reason at all, except for the reason that it was a romance story.
@kouyung Because they're idolized, literally. People notice statues more than headstones. It probably helps to be at the top of a ridge overlooking the canyon, with the arrows still lodged in your petrified body.
One of the first tunes I learned to play on guitar. Legen...wait for it... dary!
It seems some of the best art comes out with something incredible to base it upon. It almost feels like Uematsu couldn't go wrong with a game like FF7.
Nanaki howling next to his petrified father is one of the earliest video game events I can remember that actually brought a tear to my eye. This song really brings it back...
One of my best friends as a kid and I used to play this game for hours. I haven't seen him in forever, but for some reason this music always reminds me of him when I hear it.
supradarky thanks i appreciate all the the time you took uploading all these great themes and putting them into order, i agree with almost all yoor list lol but there a few FF themes missing!
Ah, so peaceful music. I stayed in this village a long time just because of the enchanting soundtrack. I hope that a remake will come, I enjoyed this game extremely much.
One of the better songs in the game. I remember taking my time at this part just to hear it more. Great Warrior is a little better, but both are memorable works... mainly due to the fact that Uematsu stepped out of his comfort zone for these (and scored a win)
While sitting on my chair, and listening to this song just remember me how the hell this game is so damn good/beautiful.I think I'll get my ps2 back and start a new game quickly as I can !
this track is awesome, i know first time i made it up to cosmo canyon i didnt know what the hell was going on but i sure did enjoy the tune sitting by the fire. it seems right
oh my.. i remember back when we got ahold on this game around its release and got to this spot a day or three later... we just sat and listened to the music for a long time =)
recently began to replay it again and passed this point the other day.. brought a big smile to my face.
Indeed, Red's best part in the game hands down. That song's The Great Warrior, not this one, but still good. All the music in Cosmo Canyon was great, it always made me wish there was more to do there in the game.
-I know the music if from that- but...It makes me think of the good old days in FF7..Man..The memories. 5/5 Fav and I have one more thing to add...why cand they use a soft on Nanakis dad.
True but in FF9 they used some...umm Forgot the name soft on Blank who got petrified by woods..not a spell eather. So...It should at least be worth a shot for them to try right?
They used Supersoft, if I remember correctly :-) I agree with you though; if only Seto could be revived..! And then he could fuse with RedXIII/Nanaki and their limit break would be Cosmo Love; father and son watching the Super Bowl, and the enemies die from overexposure of happiness :-P
Love the little twist on the last note at 01:24

One of the better songs in the game. I remember taking my time at this part just to hear it more. Great Warrior is a little better, but both are memorable works... mainly due to the fact that Uematsu stepped out of his comfort zone for these (and scored a win)

I once knew someone who could play this tune on Tifa's piano in her house. Epic song.

I love the part when Nanaki sees he's petrified father and he starts to howl

Indeed, Red's best part in the game hands down. That song's The Great Warrior, not this one, but still good. All the music in Cosmo Canyon was great, it always made me wish there was more to do there in the game.

resumiendo q te a gustado xD
esta es mi favorita junto la de aerith, era una KK en el juego pero su cancion la mejor

This reminds me of Nanakis part of the game
-I know the music if from that- but...It makes me think of the good old days in FF7..Man..The memories. 5/5 Fav and I have one more thing to add...why cand they use a soft on Nanakis dad.
DarkSlayerJ 3 years ago
If I remember correctly, his petrified state wasn't brought on by a spell or magic.
I think that's the only time when a soft will work.
time2torturetom 3 years ago
True but in FF9 they used some...umm Forgot the name soft on Blank who got petrified by woods..not a spell eather. So...It should at least be worth a shot for them to try right?
DarkSlayerJ 3 years ago
They used Supersoft, if I remember correctly :-) I agree with you though; if only Seto could be revived..! And then he could fuse with RedXIII/Nanaki and their limit break would be Cosmo Love; father and son watching the Super Bowl, and the enemies die from overexposure of happiness :-P

The sad version of this song is really touching. Oh, and name Red Nanaki for kicks, Bugenhagen will make ya laugh.
Cloud "Nanaki? Who is Nanaki?"
Bugenhagen "Nanaki? Why Nanaki (Red XIII) is Nanaki."
