The majority of Americans are liberal middle class, and they have a lot of control over the overall demand for products, more so than upper class and lower class. It seems it would be only logical to cater to this large demographic in order to stimulate the economy. When the middle class doesn't spend, the economy starts failing. Why put people in office who cater to the rich?
