@108Ziggy Well, according to the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) this concert was recorded in 1969, so unless you can provide with proof of a different date, I will not change the description.
@ZoyArtery I hear more Trane in this than Pharoah, personally, but certainly influenced by that period in which Trane and Sanders were doing their hard hitting stuff. I miss this side of Garbarek.
If Jan was born in 1947, than that makes him approx 22 years old here. He's killing it. Love the tone. I like this better than his later stuff. When you're a kid, you have so much energy to play.
@vpsaxman That`s a pretty direspectful statement about a musician whos has had the balls to follow his own path for more than 40 years, instead of standing still. What is your contribution ?
@Mocanari wow, chill out man. It was a joke. Why does it seem people take things WAY too seriously on the internetz these days? And what is my contribution? Well, what is YOUR contribution? What is your wife's contribution? And your neighbor's?
@vpsaxman yo man, i get what you're saying - i personally can't stand the later garbarek - to me it represents the worst in a certain kind of anodyne, safely smooth & echo-sheen'd ecm house style which not coincidentally came to prominence in the 80s, that decade of bad taste & worse politics...but i'm not sure gendering the issue, turning it into a macho thing (which, admittedly & unfortunately, a lot of free jazz does seem to encourage) helps all that much, if ya get what i mean?
@postmeback a well thought out reply I will admit - unlike most on youtube - and I get what you're saying but you may be taking my comment too seriously.
This concert was taking place in 1968 not 1969.
Garbareks concert in Molde in 1969 was with Terje Rypdal,I was there so I should know.
But anyway, thanks for posting this music which was recorded by NRK.
