@gadgethead16 I have a Dynex lcd out in my workshop that's a year old, and it seems to be a good tv. This Emerson is working good after I installed a new inverter transformer. The Dynex has a better picture though. How does the RCA compare to the Emerson?
I have a 1996 Magnavox, (Made in America) works great! Always has, not one single repair. Mother in law also has bigger model from 1988. She decides guess its time to buy a new 50 inch LG plasma....Lasted one week! Stuff just isn't built like it use to be anymore.
Hello, I have owned the brand of tv u have n the powering on/off is a burnt out inverter board. Oh the very dark spot is the flourescent bulb. Usually these needs get warm before they work. Mine does this. The dark for about 15 minutes then it goes away after a little blink or two. We got the invertboard fixed for $50 plus labor. Tv works perfect. Other then the bulb darkness. 720p!
@Vinylrecordsneverdie Magnavox tellies are beasts. I own a 1980 Magnavox that works like a champion. The picture is still excellent, and it never gives me problems. In fact, it works like it came right out of the factory in Greeneville, TN, USA in February of 1980. I never even made any repairs to it, either.
@dynatrak The only repair I had to do to mine was replace the power switch/volume control knob, which was cracked. I didn't have to repair a single electronic part on the set.
@VinylLad I have an Emerson VCR from 1988. Honestly, it is the best VCR that I own, and it plays VHS tapes perfectly. The input on it is also cleaner than any other VCR I have owned, meaning that when I play Wii, even though I am using an '80s telly and VCR, I still get a perfect picture.
@dynatrak why is your Emerson tv not working?!!!

@VaderNES I just had to re-seat the modules in this one. No other repairs done that I'm aware of. They are good sets!

@cchrlover It has a bad transformer for one of the back-lights, so it goes into fail mode. I've got a replacement transformer on the way.
