  • re(fresh)ing!!

  • Remember how much violence their is between blacks in AFRIKA b4 u blame the white man???

  • you werent stolen from africa, you were sold.

  • @tubeyou44542 BOTH

  • @anik4thy17 . We take after our master. The superior White Man. The thief who steal people from their native land and rape their woman and cut pregnant womens babes out of their stomachs just show the slaves that you are under my control.

  • How many Blacks in AFRICA kill each other every day & the white man who`s not even on their land???

  • @bobigol well, the white man is not on "their" land, but the white man divided the people and made the tensions that has lead to many of the wars and brutal climate we have seen since th colonization.

  • @fillethefish

You sure about that? Taking decades of civil war and just blaming it on a specific ethnic group is denying absolute history. I didn't know we could re-write history. I guess the jews got themselves out of the trouble because they rejected the white man. Or they worked themselves out of it. Don't blame white people especially the ones alive today for any problems because the sooner we can embrace individuality then better and this kind of rhetoric forbids it.

  • @fillethefish

A hilarious point you make is WHITE MAN. I am an irish male and my people were kept as slave just as long as the Africans were. Again, do not re write history ok because its ignorant just like this movement. If the white man did not help africa like it does now it would of be dead along time ago. There are no more slave owners and keep pushing with this push hard to because they'll be resistance. I'm sick and tired of ppl throwing this in my face and so are others.

  • @Reido2828 Thanks for your reply.

I think you misunderstood my point. It was a reply to bobigol's comment, stating that the people of Africa (its a large continent i know) are not entirely to blame for the situation there is today. Its a fact colonization made a mess. But what you are pointing at- how the white man is helping out at the moment, is that not cleaning up "our" (im also pale) own dirt? We should not have been there at the first place. History is a point of view

  • @fillethefish

The white man is not to blame for the continents problem. The politics and the massive corruption is the problem. Right now the Chinese have much more invested in Africa and are exploiting it massively now. As a fellow Canadian I am so sick of this blame the white man slogans now. Its old news and the more it gets pushed the more racism we will have. Its a sad day on the planet when we blame a generation for a past generations atrocities. A very sad day.

  • @Reido2828 I shall make myself even more clear. You are entirely right about corruption etc as todays problem, and that is what we shall focus on and try to come away from. You think we should put the old historic events besides to be more rational and deal with current problems, that is an agreeable. I don't understand why you get so upset about me referring to 18th century historic events. My only point has been that past events has lead to build the world we see today, good or bad-

  • @fillethefish

No thats not true either. Lol this is a serious historical fallacy here in the west we get taught and it seems to continue even after generations have gotten way past it lol. You ought to read an alternative view of history like maybe check out Niall Ferguson on his history claims and ideas and go from there. I mean I can't even begin to debunk what you just claimed to me. I don't mean to be hostile but right now I grow tired of the same racial arguments being made

  • @Reido2828 -And i hope you don't see me for a fool for believing colonialism/exploiting has put history of on the wrong foot. It has happened a LOT since then, yes. And the the progress has been other than promising (as a whole for the continent).

I have never blamed "the white man" for todays problem, only blamed him for putting power and dangerous and advanced tools in the hands of the wrong people in the improper stage of territorial and social development-

  • @fillethefish

Then explain to me this history because I see a lot of sacrifices that were made in the past to help the black community. Unless human beings embrace each other as individuals first we will never break free of this race problem. No matter what point you make on the past or the present nothing in the future will change if we keep up these absurd movements. European people should be proud of their history. We should not be brought up hating our past NEVER.

  • You have proven your point. However, in the future try to ease down somewhat. "I'm sick and tired of..." that attitude in your earlier comments "...and so are others".

BTW are you an Irish male or a Canadian lady?

  • @Reido2828 -Call it "old news", but my interest turns to history, yours to rational problem solving and we absolutely need both parts to make the right decisions today.

  • I love this girl she's amazin......who knew I would meet u on the train....lol......

  • Damn girl...you is KILLING IT BABYGURL!! Loving and completely digging you! Any woman of class would NOT come here to argue who she is or what she is about with idiots. I'm proud that she knows and understands this. Damn--why can't folx just listen to her music and enjoy it without having to dissect what she is (a light skinned black woman with talent) or where she comes from! No wonder when Teena Marie came out Motown would NOT show her face but instead allowed us to LOVE her voice--first!

  • Forget all the b.s arguments! This woman has a beautiful style very reminiscent of none other than my other favorite artiste, Miss Jill Scott! I'd LOVE to see and hear them perform together! You GO girl and KEEP on doing your thing! You are as black as any black male or woman and you TOTALLY get it and UNDERSTAND!

  • "real recognize real!"

so thanks for being so visible for us to catch a glimpse of real talent and soul! i cant wait to meet you dude!

looks like you'll be with us, performing for a Black History Month Celebration in Peterborough at The Market Hall, with Klyde Broox, Motion and DL Incognito and some others on Feb.6, 2009 ! ! haaha, a night of pure dopeness!!!

    take care and stay up!

    peace,

    DJ WHO

  • Why is everybody dissing Philips perspective except Zaki? I see comments from people who for the most part are ignorant to the way of life in Africa, and are passionate about defending Zaki. I don't agree with everything Philip has to say, but if he is wrong why isn't Zaki defending herself? From an unbiased person looking in it looks as though she may have something to hide. Also if she is both white and black, Philip may be correct no?

  • Beatz are dope... she is killin it! I do not care if she is green, with 3 heads!

    keep `em comin....testify!

  • Is she the daughter of Abdullah Ibrahim?

  • this girl is from Digable Planets rite?

  • jazzy

  • But BackseatB, she is Aafrican- Capetown girl...or maybe you were getting at other stuff related to SFA...if so, my bad.

  • I think you replied to the wrong guy.

  • Zaki is sick but stolen from africa....thats a stretch.... Zaki is a huge step for Toronto Female performers.... I go to as much of dem as I can (concerts)

  • its amazing how ignorant people still are in the '08...why does it matter what Zaki's

parents do, what she looks like or what her ancestry is? Her message is postive and she sings with passion and she seems to have purpose behind the words she expresses through song! Why do woman always try to keep other women down! wake up! breathe! and relax and enjoy the authenticity of Zaki's music! I'm feelin you sis! you inspire me to be a more beautiful me...keep doin you and stay up! hater's nevermind!

  • she looks like she may be a product of both black and white ancestry, which can be a good thing when ur a product of two sides that don't seem to get along. if i'm right, then she lives the conflict and represents hope for us all. i hope my child will learn to respect EVERYONE...

  • freshhhhhhhhhh

  • That's a dope song!!

  • shes good so suck it up and get over the colour thing why do you people still get stuck there ? the creator made and loves us all especially the children

  • Yeah right you fucking whites say that when you feel corner.

  • theres nothing worse than a biggot i love this little girl and know her father very well

  • Nice voice but it does look like you are another rich white girl playing on your minority ethnic genes. I felt a little embarressed. Srry.

  • wow, you are far from the truth. Zaki is the truth..

also, correction... she ain't a rich white girl... what a way to stereotype.

To judge is to be judged.

  • Yes you are correct. I'm white and I'm not rich. Its just that she IS WHITE and dances like a rich girl. Please show me a picture of her parents if you think she is black. And tell me what their jobs are before she smacks of privelege. Prove me wrong and I'll eat my words.

  • Why you hatin' fam? She's not rich, and so what if she dances like a rich white girl? My aunt dances like a "rich white" girl...and she's blacker than tar!! So what's the point? And who needs to prove anything to you? Who are you to judge? You my friend need a lesson in diplomacy. Be more supportive, that's what the world we live in today needs more of...not criticism. Happy Holidays

  • This is a video of a white girl banging on about her black roots. A sycophantic "interviewer" feeds her the opportunities to make her soundbites, in some cases reminding her ("You mean to take ownership?")

She posted this on YouTube giving people the right to judge her. Why does she deserve my support if I feel ill watching what I believe is indirect racism - the claiming of centuries of injustice when her ancestors were more than likely the perpetrators.

  • Well..I tell you what,When I speak to her this weekend,I will be more than happy to let her read your comments, then respond for herself. Nothing like hearing it straight from the source, right?

Then you 2 can debate all night about her upbringing and "heritage". Have a good evening & a Happy New Year.

  • all i have to say is u do not have to be black to be african, check out from moroccans down to namibians, look at ethiopians down to lesothons........Africa is home to all, and i say this as an African myself

this girl has a magnificent voice and she sings with purpose and passion.....big up!"i hope u go far, will spread the word and keep a look out for your first album

  • Ever been to North Africa? Most racist place on earth. If you are black between Morocco and Egypt you will know how a dog feels. Not many Berbers were Stolen From Africa. She sings with purpose alright; self promotion. You obviously know the lady. WHAT DO HER PARENTS DO?

  • What do your parents do reverend bullshit? Take your judgemental garbage elsewhere. Dismissed.

  • My ancestors by be traced across hundreds of years of mining; and that means getting dirty hands, not having people slave for them.

My judgemental garbage is nothing compared to this lady's. Her blood is vast majority slave owners' not slave, yet she wallows in the injustice to 'her people'. Talk about a guilt complex.

  • Hey philip,

That's my sister you're talking about, and you have no right to jump to conclusions about her. My mother is one of the greatest human beings on the planet. Yes, she is white, and I am as proud of her heritage as I am of my father, who is a black Cape Town native. We grew up in both Canada and South Africa and are a mix of both races and cultures. I don't care if you are black or white, it is clear you are an ignorant turd. Your comments show that you just don't get it!

  • I WISH my sister was rich. She has worked her ass off to get where she is, and i am so proud of her. Constantly scraping money together to keep making her music, never giving up. She never had ANYTHING handed to her. I took the easier road, became a teacher, LIKE MY MOTHER and my father has dedicated his life to political reform in South Africa through community radio, but Zaki has followed her dream, is FINALLY getting the recognition she deserves! Yet your first instinct is to tear her down.

  • Set you mind at ease, this not a case of "fraudulent blackness" so feel free to simply enjoy her music. You are entitled to your opinions, but I know the truth. She is eloquent, beautiful and positive and a strong, genuine person, who knows more about being "African" than ANY singer that you are likely to listen to. So have a listen and if you don't like her, fine, but questioning her racial credibility because she doesn't fit your "African" colour pallet is just ridiculous!

  • PS - I have to say, my folks are gonna get a real kick out of their new "slave owners" background. Can't wait to tell them!

  • "who knows more about being "African" than ANY singer that you are likely to listen to"

OK RELAAXXX YOURSELF. She hasnt lived the complete struggle an African has say in a conflict country with war, terrorism and a rebel forced society like Rwanda, Sierra Leone etc, that's a pretty vague and general statement and a VERY HUGE PROBABLY. Not saying she's good but relax about that statement, it's just as ignorant

  • How is it going for Zaki?

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that starts at 5:10 it's the illest!

    Sisters take ownership!!!

    Thanks for the post

  • omg if she doesn't BLOW UP than there's something wrong with music today. do the damn thing, girl!
