@runescapefire3 "The Ring Lord" do you have a link to him coz all that is being circulated here in Australia is a kind of mass produced "Made in India" style mail that as far as I'm concerned may as well have been out of stainless steel for all it's authentisity. Yours, however, retains a feel of craftsmanship...well done,
hello! these scales are very beautiful! please tell me what size, what have holes diameters, and also the diameter of a chain mail, FOR THE I want to make my own armor! please send me all the details!
Ring Lord is the cheapest, but if you're looking to buy in the States, go to Etsy and search for NotToto ... she sells them online for about $5 a bag. If you only want a few, it might be cheaper bc the shipping from Canada is like $12-$15 USD
Anyone know where scales like these can be bought in the UK? theringlord seems to be the only website that I've found (after hours of searching) that sells them, but buying them in from the US is going to cost my kidneys!...
I've found 2 UK based websites that sell scales, BUT the best they have are very cheap-looking flat D-shaped scales... which don't really compare to these at all :(
@lithfrasir Scale is resonably effective against a stabbing action from a LIGHT WEAPON like a stiletto or short sword, because the shape and arrangement of the scales directs any force downwards, dispersing its force. Something heaviler like a spear or pike wouldnt have too much trouble getting past it.
Its also VERY weak against ANY upward motion, as this gets straight under the scales and only has to pass the links holding them together.
@SinnFein4ever they seem to compliment eachother very well. scale is a effective against slashing and downward peircing attacks while chainmail is great against peircing attacks from any direction. just have a shock absorbing material underneath and you should be good to go against an army of some unlucky peasants :P
@medievallover120 unlike chainmail scalemail is more about angles when you connect them. i find assembling them in squares and angling them in such a way that you make a sheet is the most effective way as opposed to assembling the overall shape peice by peice. like quilting in a way.
That may very well one of the most badass things I've ever seen. So awesome...

how effective would this be against stab wounds?

this seems so much faster than making chainmail and it looks slightly better.

where is it that u get the scales?
lasersight70 2 years ago
now did you make the scales yourself or is there a place to purchase them? I made a chain mail glove out of iron rings i formed on my own.
hanfire 2 years ago
This may seem like a silly question, but from where do you order the scales and rings?

you could form a triangle and align the base of the triangle with the side you want to be just a straight surface.
WarrivarNeo 2 years ago
did you make the scales or buy them if you made them how, what did you use to make them? i am very interested
jitterstlongpaw 2 years ago
@jitterstlongpaw oh i bought them i do not possess the skill or equipment to make them at this quality. i wish i did though
