Brazil has very little money put into education. I studied in American from ages 8 to 14 (third grade to eight grade) and I have to say Brazil is a lot harder and I got my ass kicked discipline wise, but unfortunately it has the same result as in the US. Public school sucks in both countries.

What really amazed me is the fact that they were not allowed in the school premises with camera's. I'm from Belgium and I can truly say that when journalists want to film inside a school - especially concerning school results ! - they can easily do this. I've been really concerned with the situation in the States. Not only on educational, matter, but also ethical, industrial, military, social and political issues. The future of a country depends on its youngsters, we should invest in them.

The school isn't the problem. It's the lack of interest and effort of the students. In my school at least, the people that try do well, those who don't care get horrible grades. Kids nowadays are just lazy and are looking for a way to slack off. They think they're too good for school, so they don't care. That's the problem.

@cmarshall497 having talked to people who have been through the american high school system as well as a non american system, it is obvious that the american system is broken. It doesn't matter how hard the kid wants to learn, the method of teaching they use in the US is just bad.

The problem with our schools is lack of discipline. The students know that they can get away with whatever they want. Need to bring back whooping that ass when they fuck up.

@larry1975hu Also as I said above it's probably got allot to do with the lack of enthusiastic teachers you need an inspiring teacher for someone to love a subject and to want to find out truth maybe behind what their talking about, later maybe even contradicting them.
I found loads when I was at school even here in the UK where some of the content they taught was actually incorrect but it was by finding out for myself I have that view.

@mrlopez2681 Oh my god, you are so right! I cannot tell you how frustrating it is! I'm only 13 and there are guys and girls my age that smoke weed, it's disappointing. Some are even in rehab. It's very sad that people know where to get " the best shrooms" and they don't know what a linear or function is.

Schools are victims too just like the children. The are victims of system that does not work. you know what, the reality is that if you are a student that does not give a shit, then you are not going to learn. ANd the more students who dont give a shit are in a school, l the more difficult it will be to learn in that school. Ive been in many classrooms as a teacher with too many dumb fucks that make it difficult to teach those student who want an education.
