  • any1 know the name of the first jig played ?? :D

  • @erikabrowne Laoise Kelly's jig.

  • Fionnula Rooney is my music teacher :D haha im so lucky :P

  • @eiLiS16rYaN05 Note the way she arranges her key selection/ sequence for the tunes...there's a nice lesson in that ..ask her about it! Nice playing by both .

  • @Lisnageeragh We've already tried talking to her about it but she won't say anything specific. She absolutly hates this video because she's ginger in it! Really the most we can knock out of her is that she got off 2 classes to do that shoot. It's a shame really, but she actually plays for us all the time :D she's accompaning me in my junior certificate music practicals :) so delighted..

  • Excellent playing, lovely music, lovely girls. Thanks for uploading.

    cheers

  • ***** GOLD STARS *****

    Tous deux très talentueux.

    Sont sœurs?

  • A lovely recording - superb playing

  • Each time I listen this music I feel happy. I really like your music !

  • I have been listening and watching this video during one week!!!!!!!!!!. I am addicted to those jigs!!!!!!!!!!

    Greetings from Salamanca (Spain)

  • man, i think i just feel in love... with the music, the women, everything! thank you for wonderful music...

  • It's not an English. It's définitely an Anglo-Irish G/C concertina.

    "I've mastered the Anglo"

    So what ? Anglo has 2 rows. Anglo-Irish has a

    3rd row with extra notes.

    The st tune is in A and can't be played on a G/C Anglo (no G#). You need G/C Anglo-Irish.

  • @edelahaye

Nevertheless, I think that Ernestine is a marvellous player!

  • I never intent to say that the instrument was Irish (AFAIK, there is still no concertina maker in Ireland). Anglo-Irish concertina (3 rows) is a common name for Anglo-Chromatic.

  • C? G? WHAT IS ??????

  • The international way of writing musical notes.

    A = La

    B = SI (ti)

    C = Do or Ut

    D = Ré

    E = Mi

    F = Fa

    G = Sol (So)

  • Such talent on display here... Great sounding concertina... I wish I could come close to that standard!

  • Does anyone know or know where i can get the notes or download that first tune by laoise kelly? also does anyone know the name of it? I heard it could be called the four six but not sure

  • same name as me !!!

  • this is awesome I just wish the harp were a little louder.

  • OMG THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

    I've played pedal harp for a while and now I've decided that I want to learn to play the concertina as well, so when I saw a harp and concertina duet I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was played really well too, great job.

  • beautiful playing, beautiful ladies. ahh...

  • That's an English concertina. I've mastered the Anglo and just about to start playing an English. English concertinas have the thumb rests that are illustrated in this video...

  • Actually, it *is* an Anglo. ;)

    English ones have the button rows running away from the hand rather than across as seen on the 30 button Anglo played here. Full-hand straps are also more common on the Anglo, while the English ones tend to have a thumb strap and a metal plate to rest the little finger on.

    Beautiful playing on both parts anyway.

  • You've mastered the anglo eh?

  • If you can't recognize that this is an Anglo, I doubt you've "mastered the Anglo"

  • This certainly NOT an English concertina. It's an Anglo, and more specifically a G/C Anglo-Irish.

  • Beautiful playing!! - has inspired me to buy a concertina - is this an Anglo? Where can you learn to play one?

  • It is most definitely an anglo. Look for my videos of "First Night with my new concertina" and one or two other short ones I put up under my name. Those are played on an Anglo. You just find out which note is which button, and then learn the music by looking at it. After a short while, reading the music can become second nature! There are also good instruction books and videos... can anyone suggest one for malcolmgc?

    Jen

  • so beautiful ! ...thank you both !

  • lovely work ladies. absolutely fabulous, keep up the excellent work.

  • Outstanding playing. Very good job, keep it up, greetings- Holger

  • crisp,clean and so beautifully done.Thank you.

  • Now thats fine Irish music!!!

  • Two gems, what great music, go no further than Comhaltas for the best in Irish music, well played girls.

  • Not a common combination but sounds great. I'm still not too extremely fond of the concertina but at least she's not playing slow airs on it.

  • Love the concertina. This is the way it should be played without too much ornamentation. Lovely tempo to the tune.

  • Clare, the ornamentation is extremely subtle and tasteful here, but there's quite a lot.

  • fantastic music guys !!

  • Interesting combination, the harp and concertina, but i liked it. Thanks!

  • Outstanding talent & wonderfully entertaining. Thanx for sharing!!!
