  • i dont get it. if this was '36, y aint anyone talkin?

  • @LeMcCHarStar4ever "Chaplin began preparing the film in 1934 as his first "talkie", and went as far as writing a dialogue script and experimenting with some sound scenes. However, he soon abandoned these attempts and reverted to a silent format with synchronized sound effects. The dialogue experiments confirmed his long-standing conviction that the universal appeal of the Tramp would be lost if the character ever spoke on screen." from wikipedia :)

  • @credalthefirst ah ok then thank u!

  • @credalthefirst You actually had the respect for everyone else's intelligence to put 'from Wikipedia' at the end of the information you posted. With so many plagiarists on youtube, that is very good to see, thank you. I find plagiarists sickening.

  • HAhaha yes!

  • Does anyone know the date of this and whether or not it is still copyrighted?

  • loll kokaine funy

  • I can't hear anything! :-)

  • lets get high

  • it is not cocaine.

    it is snuff...

  • @436068 I don't think pulvurized tobacco would have that effect on any person even if consumed in greater quantities.

  • @UnrealHel hahahahahaha best answer ever.

  • @436068 I believe it's cocaine. I don't think they would bust him for snuff.

I also am pretty sure: Cocaine - white powder. Snuff - brown powder.

  • This is why we smoke MARIJANE

  • @kr3wson

This is why you are stupid!

  • @Flacksh0t Was i talking to you stupid cunt?

  • @kr3wson

    Who else?

  • This Is What Cocaine Does To You In 01:15

  • I don't care what anyone says. The talkies ARE just a fad. Silent film will be back VERY soon.

  • @mohawkmeat You might be right. The Artist, a silent film, is the frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar.

  • @mohawkmeat i agree me and some friends have been trying to make one lol

  • @mohawkmeat You obviously heard Martin Scorcese was releasing 'The Artist' then ran to your computer and started posting comments like 'Silent Film will be back VERY soon' on Charlie Chaplin vids to get thumbs up from people on youtube. How do people like you even get out of bed every day?

  • hahaha

only Charlie Chaplin could ever accidentally escape from jail

    xD

  • @ifanstudio ??

  • He Couldve Escaped xD

I got an B+ No joke:)

  • HAHAHA...ohh..my God. Modern Times is probably my favourite Chaplin movie...although The Great Dictator is a close second.

  • you disapoint me charlie *shakes head*

  • WINNING!

  • Charlie Chaplin is the one who's winning here.

  • I think I'd like to find some of this "nose powder" :-)

  • ahahaha :DDD

  • me encanta como extrañamos a charlie

  • now iv'e seen everything! i can die peacefully now!

  • Am I the only one dying of laugher here?! One of Chaplin's funniest moments in my opinion!

  • zomgcocaine! o noes!

  • i dont see this funny. kids may imitate the actions done.

  • @alqeadias LOL I seriously hope you are joking because I found your response awesome and hysterical!

  • @alqeadias

Oh no, the children! If everyone was to take that attitude we wouldn't be allowed do anything

  • @alqeadias What, putting salt on their food and eating it?

  • i never got to see this part because my teacher skipped it. :(

  • lol. He steals the other guy's bread and is like "huh? what's the problem? mind your own business!" that's so cocaine...

  • yep its true they had coke back then, coca cola used to have cocaine in it!

  • hahahahah great escape from prison xD

  • cocaine? really? it already existed in those years? and they put it on a movie?? :S

  • @LordEizen pfft, you could buy that shit in a drugstore for like 3 cents a can.

  • @PufferBluntman wow.. thats awful to me.. D:

  • @LordEizen what's so awful about it? only punks were doing coke back then - it was considered poor man's drug, like airplane glue today. It's the money people are snorting, not the powder.

  • @PufferBluntman i just dont like drugs thats all

  • @LordEizen good for you, what do you want me to do about it - give you a medal?

  • @LordEizen Cocaine has been around for thousands of years. Some aboriginal tribes still use it. Infact, America used to be way less puritan in our views toward drug use. I can't even imagine how much fun it would be to time travel back to the 1930s and get high with Charlie Chaplin...

  • @avedic Cocaine was first synthesized in 1898. Coca leaves have been used for longer than that, and are still used. My friend brought some back from Bolivia, and I have to say, they are awesome. Kind of like coffee minus the jitters, but obviously not as strong as cocaine because it is not an extract.

  • Brill

  • phooey they cut out the rape scene

  • Isto que eu chamo de chapado e escrementado.

  • I love charlie movies, just amazing fun

  • @Arcterion obviously the music you listen to has the mental destructive capabilities as cocain. duh

  • Before heroin was made illegal by the FDA in 1906 .07% of the population was addicted to it. In 2010, .07% of the population was addicted to it.

  • @blortner

invention of the airplane? i dont know.. imagine what it would be if it was still legal.

  • @blortner heroin was not made illegal by FDA, Congress passed, I believe, Harrison Act to ban it in 1914 or something like that.

  • @blortner You are forgetting that the amount of herion that existed was much smaller back then. Whenever people present these statistics they forgot that the production of drugs in general was not as big as it is today. So its a wonder that the % hasnt gone up actually.

  • @blortner Before opium was made illegal in China every person knew a relative who was inflicted with it and wars were fouht over it. Now that it is illegal barley anyone knows anyone. Oh look I can do this to!

  • @blortner Yea, except now we spend billions of dollars persecuting that .07% whiler depriving the other 99.03% of our civil rights... The drug war is, before all else, stupid.

PS. We've also taken substances that addicted ±5% of the world's population — drugs; then hooked it up with a substance that addicts 99% of the world's population — money. does anyone really wonder why drug war is a loosing proposition?

  • @joeyfotofr You're missing 0.90%

  • @blortner

    what an excellent point!

  • @blortner yeah but if they make it legal now... 50% will be addicted

  • @salvadoraugustus

Rape and pillage in less than 24 hours all over the world!

  • @blortner There you are! Heroin is very dangerous. During more than 100 years they were not able to get rid of their addiction. Must have cost them a fortune by now.

  • @blortner i dont understand..you tryna make a point ?

  • @blortner somehow i don't think you would want to legalize pedophilia based on this same logic, or statistic. what about zero regs on fire arms? no, just the dope interests you. it would not be fair of me to leave out that i am for the legalization of all drugs. not becasue the same amount of users exist as back then but becasue as people we are all free to choose for ourselves what we consume. as for the others i mentioned, my rights end where yours begin. pedofiles must hang.

  • Lots of people still chew coca leaves. In its natural form it's a mild stimulant and gives a feeling of mild euphoria. The so-called 'War On Drugs' has created more problems than ever existed before.

  • Sigmund Freud was a strong advocate of cocaine usage, to the point of believing it was a drug that could bring peace and happiness to the world. Draconian drug laws under which penalties were based on weight caused people to distill it down into a more powerful form, and thus 'crack' was introduced to the world.

  • its funny, but back then people even didnt know how cocaine is dangerous.example Coca cola was made from Coca

  • @bibi5027 Yup. They also thought radiation in radium gives people extra vigor, And doctors were promoting smoking cigarettes as somehow being healthy or at least benign. Our understandings continue to improve and increase. And some erroneous data gets corrected with greater understanding.

  • haha Love this!

Please take the time to watch a short film I uploaded that I wrote and acted in, based on Charlie Chaplin. Much appreciated! :)

  • This is why its called Charlie :)

  • cocaines a heelova drug

  • I used to watch this when I was young, never realized he was taking drugs lol.

  • wow that's a rather large envelope of cocaine....that dude must've been a dealer or a overconsumer with a lot of cash!(or maybe coke was cheap back then)

  • @metamaggot Yeah, there wasn't any laws stopping it from being imported, and it probably wasn't produced on a large scale.

  • just saw this film recently in my cinema arts class and it was really funny. i enjoyed watching the film and it was the first film where Charlie talked/ sanged.

  • do any of you get reminded by parts of harry potter theme songs from the first three movies by this song?

  • "nose powder" XD hehe we all know what that meens

  • @mongolianape your probably 8

  • @TheMarcelo93 then how can i type,mate?

  • @motherfan55 im not 8. really im not! im a respectable 30 years old and have a shit car and a shit job. wich saddens me.

  • he's panicked that of his release lol

  • This shit is Hilarious. Charles Chaplin is a comedic genius. Actually he's a general genius

  • cocaine supresses apetite...so im not sure this entirely makes sense.

  • @rjkennedy98 He sprinkled coke on his food so he kept eating it lol.

  • I believe that he is a genius!!

  • What happened

  • Charlie Chaplin ,um génio do cinema mudo.

  • I'm Charlie Chaplin, the silent era comic! I DO COCAINE!

  • @PufferBluntman No thank's,been there done that, weed is another story.Oh yea and screw hard alcohol as well.

  • @USAdude30 what do you want, a medal?

  • @PufferBluntman Lol...ok :D

  • @PufferBluntman c-c-c-c-c-c yeah

  • This is how Dina Lohan would get Lindsey and Ali to eat when they were kids.

  • jajajajjajajaj se prendio jajajajaja

  • 1:13 love his reaction

    like "WOW...that's fucking good !" ^^

  • What year was this filmed please ??

  • So, what? I use cocaine instead of salt every day. Nothing special, here buddy. :P

  • LMFAO!

  • Hell yea Charlie Chaplin was the shit back in th day. This is one of my favorites from him.

  • Whom ever made the following comment... "And J Edgar Hoover was right to revoke Chaplin's re-entry permit in 1952 and ban him from the US.

The House Un-American Activities Committee was looking into Chaplin for being a Commie sympathizer.

    Chaplin was an outright pinko.

    Yay Hoover & HUAC

    Yay USA

...was a pure idiot. Chaplin did more for the film industry and the war effort than any celeb at the time. McCarthy was a meglomaniac and went way too far with Chaplin.

  • @paling93 The word 'Charlie' came about during the Vietnam Conflict. We were up against the Viet Cong or VC. In Military Alphabet Code, the letters VC are Victor Charlie. Our servicemen just dropped Victor and kept referring to the Viet Cong as Charlie.

  • is this how the word charlie came about?

  • @bigfatAMERCANbastard: I know you're being sarcastic, so that's why I won't flame you for mentioning J. Edgar Hoover. I would resurrect him just so I can kill him myself.

  • @bigfatAMERCANbastard ok, i thought your profile name might be sarcastic, but you never know, some people are proud of being bigFatAmericanBastards. kudos on the subversive profile...

  • @bigfatAMERCANbastard okay i am looking for some sort of meaningful response, not some prejudiced mccarthy inspired right wing propaganda. Perhaps you give more insight into the issue than you realize by uncovering some facts I had not been aware of. If someone with biased and delusional opinions like your own really doesnt like this guy for his 'commie sympathizing', there might be more to his art than I realized. Whats the difference between fascism and patriotism? maybe you have more insight?

  • okay so this guy is obviously talented to write, direct, and do all the physical comedy stuff, but I am completely perplexed by his reputation as a 'genius' or that people worship his films. What is the appeal? Maybe in that day this was groundbreaking entertainment, but its not insightful, poignant stuff. What tha deal?

  • @bishopTh3android Try Limelight or City lights if you want poignancy or insight. A one minute gag is not likely to give you the full scope of his work.

  • @steadfasttinrobot yeah, I was curious after reading a lot of other people referencing his work and watched and read a bit more. His speaking roles were pretty impressive. I will check those out though, thanks.

  • I love this video. I keep on rewind it. It's so cool.

  • I WONDER IF HE THOUGHT HE WAS DED HARD AND TALKED A LOAD OF BOLLOX

MOST PEOPLE ON COKE DO THAT .. -_-

  • Charles Chaplin é tudo... Um dos únicos que honraram a sétima arte...

    mtmt bom!

  • Few persons in life got the same courage than mister Chaplin : to follow his dream of history of love

  • Many persons say Chaplin was a pedo. But, why they think this? Because he got married with some teenage girls? I think is much better get married and live with a teenage girl than get married with an old woman however to have sex with teens out of marriage! He made what was correct! He liked a teenage girl and got married with her. Love does not have age. Observe your last marriage. He get live with his young woman till his dead and had 8 sons. He was a gentleman. .

  • I was only joking. Most dumb americans would think this though.

  • @bezerranono teenage or not isnt a matter, the fact that he live with her till death prove he right, people of this day has to get 2 or 3 marriage to finally settle down =.=
