@pumphol are you still with sherri? i love the fact that little £300 actually meant something back then. are you on facebook id love to see what you look like now? i preferred lucky than to rich, i liked the old school computer screen. did you enjoy your holiday, still got some of the prizes?
Great video. I love reading about people's experience of being on game shows. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
What is Michael Barrymore saying at about 4:20? Something like "Don't worry, its where the screens move on".
There are stairs in the middle for Barrymore to come down at the start of the show, there are stairs on the right of the picture for him to use during the game but did anyone ever use the stairs on the left?
Looked through that part at 4.20 several times, either Sherri or myself said something to him which I cant make out for him to make that reply, it will just have to be one of lifes mysteries I suppose, other stairs were never used as far as I can tell, just made for Symmetry I suspect.
I think I can hear someone saying "We missed them" before Barrymore responds with "Don't worry, it's where the screens move on". Does that ring a bell? I'm not sure if it is you saying this or someone off camera.
Talking of "off camera", I have watched quite a few episodes of Strike it Rich lately and Barrymore keeps looking over towards the left of the screen like he does in your clip. Do you know who he was looking at?
Did you meet Barrymore before the show was recorded?
Quite interesting to see when they revealed all the screens that they didn't have every possibility in each bank of three; there were two arrows and a Hot Spot, two Hot Spots and a question, that sort of thing.
Doesn't seem fair really, and for that reason alone I'm glad you beat them at their own game.
We were told that the jackpot averaged one winner in every three shows, I think you would have found that on every game played it was never just a question, hot spot & an arrow on each stage across.
They dident get any further along the board, so what they got up to the point the video stops that was it, you do not actually get any of the prizes either they offer but cash equivalent instead.
At the time it was the most watched programme on tv at around 20 million viewers a week, the jackpot was won about one week in four & as far as I know it had never been won in that sort of fashion, to be honest the whole experience was very sureal at the time.
You would think that should be the case but in fact when they showed all the screens at the end of a show there would often be two of something in each row at least a couple of times across the board.
Just seen Michael playing Spike milligan he was incredible, Met him before and after show he is the kindest most lovliest man if I could of fitted him in my pocket believe me I,d of shoved him in there hehe( sorry Michael, sorry my hubby if you read this)
Hi Kaw,sadly i wish i was in a position to upload the clips myself but this was done for me, there were some very funny moments as the elderly chap was very hard of hearing & he was extremely funny especially when he got his comb out to tidy his hair, if only he had some to comb !
I can tell you the audience was just as amazed as me when we kept going through the middle, not my idea but Sherri kept perservering in the middle & MB & the audience just got caught up in the monment, what you also have to take into consideration is the fact they recorded two programmes in one day, ours was the second & no-one got near the jackpot in the first programme so the audience were with us.
You actually dident receive any prizes just money equivalent for instance we won a holiday in the Black Forest which was worth £400, i have still to work out what a do it yourself tool- kit actually was !
Thanks, I thought they would give you the holiday. What was it like to meet Mr Barrymore? Did you have to audition to be on the show or just apply? What was it like actually being in the studio with the music, audience, equipment and other stuff. I've always wanted to be on a gameshow.
Have to go through the audition process to get on shows, live audience is always a bit daunting, MB was a lot quieter than you see on the box, if you ever want to apply for a gameshow just look up quiz show contestants on the net, good luck.
There was never one of each as you go across, if you look at the sixth window there were no hot spots at all, every series used to have twelve shows & there was never more than three jackpots in each series so i feel we were very fortunate to get across.
Ah right, I thought there was a question, hotspot and pass on each column, if you get what I mean. It seems a bit unfair if you have three hotspots in one column. Then again, the show was called "Strike it Lucky".
Great full edition of Strike it Lucky pumphol did you enjoy your time on the show?
Where was this edition of Strike it Lucky recorded at Teddington Studios or Pinewood Studios?

He was probably looking at the auto- que
He came into the green room for a few minutes after the recoring & we all had photographs taken with him.

Was there an autocue? On some episodes he uses handwritten idiot boards because he sometimes grabs them and shows the audience at home.
So when you met Barrymore on the show, that was all real? That was the first time you had met?

Yes that was the first time we saw him as he walked down the stars at thre start of the show.

What happened?? can someone tell me?
with all the stuff of fake phone ins and bogus poll's on tv I wonder if the screens were really random.
well lets face it they wouldnt be, if blue peter are cheating then these guys would cheat for the drama.
weirdly it took me until 22 years old to realise that most people were corrupt and are dishonest if they can get away with it in the work place!!
