Budgies are good pets. If you buy lots you can even eat them when they die. Or do like I do, just buy them for the food and keep a few to play with. They are only $30 each so it's a good deal.

i didn't know that i could suppress his breathing by holding him like that, especially since he rarely protested and often seemed to enjoy it, and as violent and evil as you make out my actions, i always held him lovingly and gently. i never 'whacked' my bird, when i used my entire hand, i would simply gently run it over once or twice, and him being a bit cowardly, would flatten his body down. i know that he was a beautiful and gorgeous baby and i respected and loved him very much. excuse you.

i just watched the video & it looks to me like you were being very gentle & petting him/her softly...also, many bird owners are unaware of the problems caused by holding the bird upside down, it's a common mistake...good thing you know now

i don't know... that parakeet was a little bit of a baby wuss and he let me do anything to him. also he idolized me or something because whatever he saw me stick into my mouth he'd eat, too. he was sick with cancer so... probably not the norm

i suppose so. he developed a tumor in his cloaca or rectum or however you put it, his butt, that made it increasingly difficult for him to shit. his leg died first and a vet assumed it was lead poisoning, but later it was revealed to be the first symptom of cancer or a tumor or whatever from which he was dying, the cause of which the vet was not sure. it was a very depressing ordeal.
