Saw him for the first and only time three days before he died. He held the crowd in the palm of his hand. What a loss! Best bit was when he had a four-year-old kid take his place in the center of the ring with the unicycle and start bowing. Then he joined the onlookers and had us all clap like crazy so newcomers would come running up for a look...and see this two-foot-high kid looking like he just got off an eight-foot-high unicycle.
i saw johnny on the street. true entertainer in the real sense of the word. I enjoyed the vieo immensely. He used my brother as part of the audience participation bit. RIP Johnny
have you anymore footage of johnny.......... Galway is not the same without him and his street theatre whereas now its all about the "Arts" and having to pay for it.
Thanks a million for uploading the video. Couldn't believe it when I found it! I think I was actually at that show, I remember the kid who threw the fire battons up to johnny. Galway is less of a place without johnny.
thanks for uploading, it's a sorrowful joy to see Johnny in action. My window looks on to that corner, he gave us a lot of laughs + was part of the reason I got into street performing.
thanks so much for posting this.memories piling back in.i remember so clearly the first show of his i saw back in summer 1999- genius, watchable over and over again, part of the soul of galway. RIP
Johnny Massacre was indeed a legend. Galway seems ... empty without him. He always made people laugh, even when he made complete fools out of them. I'll never forget the day an old couple made the mistake of passing through the circle, to which Johnny shouted, "MUM! MUM! Where did you go? You left 20 years ago for cigerates and never came back! And who is this man? He's not dad!" Legendary. RIP Johnny. RIP.
after seening that video brought me great memories of the man... man I meant legend. every time his going to start the show I be there. something always was different. rain or shine he be there making an arse of himself and everyone watching :D

I always plagarise the line that Johnny said to a whino starting a row with him... "I'm sorry sir, I'm not fluent in alcoholic"
Another classic of the man when another whino would pass by was "Dad, I told you to stay in the car!"
Much loved, much missed. RIP Johnny
