It's been 22 years, but I remember this program like it was yesterday (and I didn't even have a vcr back then to record it). Still one of the best ice dances ever. I thought it deserved gold then and still do now.
I remember seeing this live and just beaming and grinning and loving it all. Fantastic. I watch it time and time again. Oh Rob, you are so missed. Tracy - bravo. Misspaddylee - you got it right - TIMELESS !
Wow, ice dancing sure has changed over the years! You almost forget. This program I remember it like yesterday and I was 10 years old. now THIS is what ice dancing should still be today.
@vsf77 I don't know... I'm thankful that the COP has made ice dancing way more exciting with all the amazing lifts, and that the programs incorporate more actual dancing and intricate steps, and it's not like the artistry has suffered at all. Take a look at our current top ice dancers; sophisticated, full of personality, and great sense of musicality.
Watchign this makes me so sad that there have been so many rule changes in ice dance: this is what it should look like. I did love B&B but I would've places this free dance 1st that night. We miss you Rob!!
I think 3rd was about right here. They lacked the magical connection of Klimova/Ponamarenko or the technical wizadry of Natalia Bestimanova, but in my opinion they were markedly better than Annenko/Stretenski. Also, Scott Joplin is a tricky theme to pick when going for an Olympic gold medal, compared to the Drama of B & B. Having said all of that, I think this is a wonderful freedance, full of intricate steps.
There's a lot to admire about this team. They can handle good content from within complex handholds and they had a charming expression. And in terms of the technical aspect of the sport, I thought both these two and Klimova & Ponomarenko were far superiour to Bestemianova & Bukin.
Its pure joy to watch

Now and Forever...standing the test of time. One of my top 3 favourite skating programs of all time.
