Not about this video but the game system itself.. there are two versions of this system around.. one as seen in the video w/40 games and another version which I can only seem to find at Dillons [Kroger] stores, the main difference seem to be.. the Kroger version does not have the SD CARD SLOT, But comes with 20 Sega games (vs 15) for a total of 70 games, it also comes with a power adapter and can be purchased for $19.99 or less.
I have something like this, except it uses a regular Genesis-styled controller that has completely useless XYZ buttons. I got it at the local Target for $20. And for those wondering, yes the sound of these things is definitely as bad as it sounds in this video. It's especially ear-killing on Sonic Spinball's options screen.
The sound isn't really an octave lower. Most of the sound channels are lowered by 4 keys whereas the square channels (or whatever they're called) are lowered by 2 keys. Basically, any game that uses both sounds pretty awful on this machine.
You're absolutely right. The sound is not good in many games, and in some the tracks are almost unrecognizable. What i just don't figured out, is why in some PC Emulators (Specially KEGA Fusion), the sound is very acurrated, very very precise, but, in all handhelds and televisions Sega Genesis Plug Ins (included the 'licensed by SEGA' ones), the sound of the games are so inexact, and sometimes, really annoying, This kind of emulation need to evolve.
@757679922006082010 Yeah, I find it to be really annoying myself, and from what I've noticed the poor emulation in general causes more problems. EA's logo doesn't seem to display properly and some games apparently have garbled sprites when dealing with clones that have an SD slot or Mega Drive cartridge slot. -_-
Nice! In fact, I have the same system. I just play the games off of the SD card. I have played some Sonic hacks, like Sonic 1 Bouncy Editon. :) This system is a nice one; apart from being a LICENSED Sega Genesis clone. Anyways, nice review. Keep up the good work.
