  • Thanks so much. I put it together yesterday and today. It is beautiful

  • I am left handed, do I just reverse everything

  • @calamityjane1951 yes. or watch in a mirror. when I say "left" think 'right' and vice-versa.

  • I like this. Can I use this for a large afaghan 88 squaes? If so, how do I go about joining them together in a continous join.

  • thanks a lot for this, quite clear and well-guided, but I have a simple question for you an big one for me.. What happens after 9 of them joined? what about the others? I have about 120 squares, but I donno how to jon them. Shall I join them in groups of 9? And then how? You see knitting and crochet need intelligence. Please help me. :)) Thanks in advance

  • @monroeandredford stack your squares the way you plan to have them. Column 1, column 2, column 3, etc. go down all of the squares the same way I show for the first three, just keep going around the bottom of the square adding on the next until you have your first column done. once the bottom square of the column is done. The last square in your column will be like the 3rd square in my video. For the second column, this time you will be joining from bottom to top.

  • Hey Beth, I wanted to thank you for this tutorial. i'm doing the friendship squares and didn't know how i was going to connect them, wanted s'thing different . . . and then i found this beeauutiful pattern you've created and decided This is how i will connect my squares. This concept was different for me but i got it, so when i'm done with alll my squares, it's me and you putting them together!!! Thank you bunches for such a well explained tutorial.

  • Thanks for all your hard work and your excellent videos. I was wondering if there was a rule of thumb as to how much yard to allow for when joining squares together. I need to make sure that I have enough before I start.

  • @skriesten It depends on the size of you afghan. I wold be sure to have a whole skein handy. I always keep several skeins of cream white & black in my stash for joining.

  • I have only one question, but the comment first, I really like this a lot it's very creative and you are just fabulous Beth, now the question, where in the world did you get a 14k gold crochet hook?

  • @cynbabearielrain It's not solid 14 K gold. It may be gold-plated but I think it's just gold paint. I ordered a book or a magazine a long time ago. With the order you got a free "14K gold" crochet hook. The steel is showing through and the gold is rubbing off from use.

  • @Bethintx1 Well it looks cool even if it is only played. You are such an inspiration Beth, and I know how busy you are but please keep up the wonderful tutorials. I personally think you are the best teacher on you tube, thanks for letting us enjoy your wisdom! Hugs & Love!

  • Thanks for sharing this - I'm useless with crochet, but had some squares I wanted to join together to make a baby blanket. I used this method, and it worked perfectly!

  • Thank you very much for showing,I love it!

  • Great video's beth!

  • thank you for a great tutorial I put together a blanket last Sunday & I love how it turned out

  • I absolutely love this. I really want to try it. How would i modify the grid for more than a 3x3 square grid. Thank you in advance.

  • @nikah042702 I now make mine a little differently than the map provided, but you do the same thing as the other map, just go farther down and continue in width too.

  • You always have the most beautifully made things and in great colors! Thank you so much!

  • YOUR'E ONE OF THE BEST....THANK U FOR SHARING! GOD BLESS!

  • Hi Beth! I really enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for all you are doing. I am doing a large afghan with granny squares and a large solid single stitch square in the middle. I'm interested in doing the continuous join flat braid, but I don't know if it can be done with what I'm doing. What are your thoughts on it. If it can be done, could you help me map it out? I would greatly appreciate your help! Thank you so much!

  • @chrisnox1 All I can say is to draw a diagram. I once used different sized post-it notes to represent squares and stuck them on a sheet of poster board to map out different sized squares. I left a space between each square and mapped it out.

  • Beth, I am thoroughly enjoying your teaching. Your voice and manner are calm and comforting. I am left handed, so it is challenging to follow you, but you have taught me how to make granny squares, and now I am finally getting to put them all together. My first grandson is 3 months old, so I am crocheting a blanket for him. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.

  • Beth, I think I get it now. LOL I am going to try this form of joining. You make it look simple. Thanks. Question, do you have to go in the pattern you display, around in the form of an "S"? Can you go back and forth?

  • @Elvis66 I do not understand what you mean by in the form of an "S."

  • @Bethintx1 Sorry for the mix up. LOL. what I tried to say is, when you start in the upper corner and go across to the left corner and then down and then back across to the right corner, could you just continue back up to the original corner where you started? I hope I cleared it up. LOLOL

  • @Elvis66 You could do that, but then you could not do the continuous join. Take a look at the map I have a link to, you might see why you would need to do it this way. Continuous, means you will continue to join all of your squares without cutting your yarn. You can do the 5-chain flat braid like the other flat braid method I've shown.

  • @Bethintx1 thank you Beth for clearing that up. I am a doofus!!!!! I wasnt looking at the whole thing. tee hee. God I hate getting old. LOLOL
