Lets see... a speed test on my Verizon 3g returns: 2.5Mb/s download and 1Mb/s upload speed. Not exactly blazing fast but perfectly acceptable for anything you'd do on a smartphone. Youtube videos fully buffer in just a few seconds and I'm not exactly planning on doing a lot of online gaming on my phone.
I wouldn't get too cocky. Verizon has stated recently that their unlimited data plan is going away this year (likely by summer) and will be doing it similar to AT&T where you will choose which data package you want. That is for both their LTE AND 3G data services. Look it up.
And neither Sprint or T-Mobile have great coverage. In fact, AT&T and Verizon have far better coverage than T-Mobile or Sprint. T-Mobile is only available primarily in large cities and Sprints coverage is mediocre at best. They may nickel and dime people. But you are also getting what you paid for. Better voice and data coverage overall.
I was with Verizon for like 5 years and been with AT&T the last 3 years. AT&T's coverage doesn't compare to Verizon's coverage. On the other hand, I have seen & noticed improvements in AT&T's network since I first switched to them. Don't get me wrong AT&T still has a long way to go

At&t is has pretty decent coverage but by no means as good as NET10's. NET10 is actually affordable too and runs on both Verizon's and At&t's towers so it has the most nationwide coverage as a carrier. I'm using their LG900G smartphone and in my opinion it runs better than my previous blackberry. Granted the call clarity could be better but for 50 bucks a month for their unlimited plan... you really can't go wrong.

@JEEPOFFROADV8 Fact: GSM is the newer, better technology. Here's why: 1) With GSM towers (with a provider like AT&T), you can talk/text/surf at the same time, where as with a cdma provider (like verizon), you can't multitask.
2) Verizon only works in a few countries worldwide, whereas AT&T works in like 160 countries; cause most countries run off the more efficient GSM system.
3) Canadian providers are selling their old CDMA towers, and they're moving to GSM, and for newer ones, HSPA+/LTE

@JEEPOFFROADV8 You realize that both of those frequencies have line of sight propagation, right? They'll go to radio horizon and no further. Assuming they're pumping out enough power to reach horizon (and they are) the only thing that will extend the range is putting the antennas on a taller tower.
Frequency only becomes a factor when you lower it into the HF and lower range (below 30Mhz) In that range the signal can bounce off the atmosphere (or travel along the ground) and propagate further.
At&t is a little faster but verizon has better services and phones. The little extra speed doesn't make too much of a difference. But At&t is getting a faster network, its gona be like 3.75G or something

I am not a cellphone user, I think cellphones should only be used for construction workers and emergencies. My source for my claim: I work for an engineering firm, and we build, maintain and service towers for both companies; and we have records of all of the towers we have built...AT&T just has way more...And Verizon uses CDMA which is kinda 90s technology lol Either way, cellphones are retarded.

@JEEPOFFROADV8 Fact: GSM is the newer, better technology. Here's why: 1) With GSM towers (with a provider like AT&T), you can talk/text/surf at the same time, where as with a cdma provider (like verizon), you can't multitask.
2) Verizon only works in a few countries worldwide, whereas AT&T works in like 160 countries; cause most countries run off the more efficient GSM system.
3) Canadian providers are selling their old CDMA towers, and they're moving to GSM, and for newer ones, HSPA+/LTE

@JEEPOFFROADV8 You realize that both of those frequencies have line of sight propagation, right? They'll go to radio horizon and no further. Assuming they're pumping out enough power to reach horizon (and they are) the only thing that will extend the range is putting the antennas on a taller tower.
Frequency only becomes a factor when you lower it into the HF and lower range (below 30Mhz) In that range the signal can bounce off the atmosphere (or travel along the ground) and propagate further.

I have Verizon and my mom has At&t and I can tell you for a fact that Verizon is faster and works in many more places and I did do my research because we use both networks everyday with no bias these so called tests your talking about will always pick who ever gives them more money. Now this is not to say that At&t was slow because it was fast but not as fast as Verizon.
