  • Qatar Airways...?!?!? whats the location of the airline during filming?

  • I noticed 1 of the switches on the overhead has a yellow tag on it. Is the switch in operative, tagged using the MEL (Minimum Equipment List)?

  • what is the controler for in the pilots hand at 2.22

  • @airlineman2201 that's the microphone for talking to ATC

  • wow..FL410..nice altitude..hahah

  • I'm looking forward to be airpilot someday, How are those planes flown nowdays? Is it just push of a button to take off, land and cruise? There is that sidestick ofcourse for exception situations.

Thanks for the video, maybe quite hard to get material like this :D

"Can I go to flight deck to record a video for youtube?"

    "sure, why not :)"

  • @TuPP3

Nah, you can still do some good hand flying.

Takeoff can only be hand flown (autopilot can be engaged from 200ft or above I think). The rest you choose whether to do yourself or let the A/P do.

  • wow... it is so quiet in there, not like in economy class...

  • That's because they're so far ahead of the engines. In fact, in the cockpit most of the noise is from the avionics cooling fans, the air conditioning, and the rush of the air outside, you can barely hear the engines at all. If you're sitting behind the engines, there's much more noise.

  • I personally like Airbus much better than any Boeing aircraft. It has less noise, is very quiet and clean.

  • The Airbus 330 has the exact SAME cockpit as the Airbus 319, 320 and 321 versions. It also uses same cockpit procedures as 319, 320 and 321s. The only differences are engines and cabin.

  • yeah it's much easier for airbus pilots to convert to other aircraft because of the likeness of the cockpits, not quite the case on boeings.

  • It's not 100% the same, it carries an extra FMGS as well as certain switches near the windows being different

  • i think cockpit rules are less strict outside of the united states... in bolivia at least my mom is friends with a lot of the pilots and iv gone jumpseat on tons of to's and landings in 72s, 73's and 76s

  • wow they were cruising at 41,000 feet

  • For the previous comments.. it is legal, and most airlines allow folk to visit the F/D on the ground as long as the aircrafts parked up and the engines are shut down.

You don't need to know anyone, just ask an attendant to ask on your behalf.

Also, for those saying they've been sneaked in.. no pilot in their right mind would let anyone into the F/D whilst in flight. It WILL cost them their career nowadays...

  • I was sneaked into an A319 flight deck a few months ago for two full flights... As long as the captain doesn't mind no one will ask questions.

  • I remember back in the day when the captain used to leave the flight deck door open during mid-flight.

Terrorism has always existed and it isn't any worse than it was twenty years ago when flight 103 was blown out of the sky. The 'climate' isn't what's posing a threat, the climate is the fear and the state of mind that has manifested its self in the form of people filing reports against pilots who let their nephews into the cockpit.

You my friend, are a victim of fear.

  • Well said!

  • Once again, another good comment.

Any Pilot will know the Standard Operating Procedures of their employer and knows full to well that there is a fairly high risk of something bad occuring.

Arrows2100: Did you fly for My Travel?

  • Well put, very true indeed.

Nearly every airline will allow visits after landing or before takeoff.

VERY few allow visits in-flight. It's a shame that the days of jumpseating for passengers are gone, but part of me feels that it's a good thing too.

  • Why would it be a good thing?

  • where was the plain heading

  • its Qatar airways..the way the air trafic controller speaks..i think its going back to Doha, Qatar

  • Callsign A7-ACB

  • He's probably calculating fuel flow against route distance to make sure they're meeting their targets. I think the guy with the camera might be someone who knows the captain; I know a first officer and he managed to sneek me on in the jumpseat, but I wasn't allowed to film :(

  • I take that back, hes probably a pilot for the airliine jumpseating.

  • Hey, this is nice....if you were the one who took this video...do you know what the captain was calculating there? How did you get in since it seems that they sealed off the cockpit to passengers nowadays...Awesome video!

  • hes the first officer I beleive, or jumpseating I cant really tell
