  • The lads would have follow him to their graves ! He beat the brits at their own game .

  • LEGEND!!!

  • this haunting music makes me chill.

  • He's My Great Great Great Uncle :'-( He Was A Brave Man.

  • Thats basically the father of our nation.

  • My fellow irish brothers and sisters, I love you for loving Michael Collins(Micheal OCaoileann). 500,000 people turned out to mourn this great man that God had begat to us. It was Ireland's Darkest Day.

And I bet nobody showed up to that Bastard DeValera's funeral.

    Michael Collins,

    RIP 1890-1922

He was only 31. Imagine that, truly a dark day - for Ireland died along wiyh him.

  • does anyone know the music in this

  • Beautiful and a huge great loss for Ireland of a great man, worshipped by so many !!

  • That almost brings a tear to my eye.

  • A great man.

  • probably one of the greatest.even to this day we have collins and dev supporters.

he was a great man who put his country before himself.

was it not better he died the way he did than an old frail man in bed withering away,he lives on always!!

  • a true irish hero

a force to be reckoned with.

    R.I.P. michael collins

  • does anybody know the name of the song?

  • r.i.p micheal o coilean

  • wats this song called as im makeing a slide show on him and i wanna no

collins was a man of his word he done what he said he wud do R.I.P

  • We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland, and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people.

  • come out ye black an tans. commee out an fight me like a man!

  • I think every Irishman and Irishwoman who know what he did for us and our country can truly say that they love this man. He was a true Irish patriot and a hero.

  • The marching scenes are stunning. There is real purpose there. You can feel the loss!

  • Yes that's absolutely right, I was in Dublin on holiday this week and my husband and I went to Glasnevin Cemetery and I was able to place a flower on Michael Collin's grave along with the hundreds of others in many vases that completely covered his grave.Still as highly thought of today as when he died. Very moving day for me.

  • God bless Ireland. History always corrects itself. At the time de velara vilified him, now its de velara who is now the disliked one while Michael Collins is a national hero

  • My Grandad always said DeValera was a bloody traitor. !! I was only a small child but I remember that well.

  • No, The Big Fella didn't unite Ireland, he united the Irish, in the spirit of Republican progress. Republicanism, by definition translates as "without monarchy". Each foot of soil that Collins reclaimed for Ireland was in itself an Irish victory. The six counties manifested its own heros, in the mould of Collins, so he did in fact bring about Irish freedom, albeit long after his death.

  • My granfather fought in the easter rising in dublin. For you to realise the complexity of our struggle with 'our friends across the water' is extremely refreshing. Unfortunately there is a lot of information undocumented about the british army durning there presence in Dublin(Raping, murdering, stealing.......etc)For a small nation in size (huge in heart) with a limited weapon supply to achieve what we achieved is amazing. I am extremely proud to be Irish. Micheal Collins RIP

  • It is always the same, it's what you don't know that is never seen as a news report and the truth is often masked and hidden , while the blame is put on the ones who are seen, and not the ones who hide behind the law.

    Norfolk UK

    (female 59)

  • he was voted the greatest irishmen ever u kno

  • at the same time he was secretly arming the north.he was using the republic in order to obtain freedom FOR THE NORTH. NO ONE but God the almighty could have bargained it all in that single treaty

  • Rakkadeisen No bother Goodman.

  • R.I.P. you hero.

  • Rest ye well!

  • the great irish man united ireland

  • He was a great man alright but he didnt unite Ireland, to this day it remains divided

  • There is NO known recording of Collins voice unfortunately.

  • God Rest his Soul

  • No there's no recording of michael collins' voice

  • I wonder if the newsreels have anything they did sometimes do records of speeches? Like for the radio? One could try and find out. Pathe might have one.

  • This music is really powerful, need to get the full track!

  • anyone know where i can download that song in the background

  • It is part of a song called "Funeral/Coda" by Elliot Goldenthal from the Michael Collin's movie soundtrack(1996, starring Liam Neeson and Julia Roberts, dir. Neil Jordan).

  • brilliant video cept for the CIRA slogan at the end

the war is over we will soon have an NI assembly and eventually a united ireland

  • anyone know if there is any footage of collins giving a speech or something?

  • yes there is but of course no voice. I don't know if any recording of Mick's voice exits? There is a portion on one of the tributes here

  • in one of johnny McEvoy's songs there is a nice bit of Michael giving a speech.

  • what the anti-treaty guys forgot was that mick would never have given up until he got a 32 county ireland. he was the only guy smart enough to do it. great loss.

  • god bless michael collins he was a true revolutionary and peace to all republicans :)

  • Didn't even know this footage existed! Excellent

  • This video is odd because the CIRA has more in common ideologically with the people who killed Michael Collins than with Michael Collins himself.

  • i cry, let his legend live on

  • What a legend

  • collins was trying to use the 'stepping stone' effect to free the six counties from brit rule...ie free the 26 counties then use that as a base to launch attacks against the brits in the north...while he signed the treaty he was still arming the IRA in the occupied six counties...genius

  • A True Irish patriot.

  • dev was a evil fucker who from the start wanted to be in power and he killed ira men

  • I agree there. I always said dev was a power hungry bastard. He Had Michael and many others killed. And he and his Irreglars were willing to put Ireland agasint Briton in full on open war. Selfish bastard. Would have killed and doomed the Country

  • great footage of a great irish patriot who loved ireland more than he loved life itself!r.i.p big fella

  • Was made the scapegoat by Dev and signed the Treaty on a promise the talks will be held the the next year to decide the norths future, brits never furfilled their promise.. didn't like the fact that Collins borrowed about 12 18' pounder field artillery guns from the brits to attack his fellow country men in the four courts though... I'd say the brits had a good laugh at that, let us kill ourselves and tear our country apart and they can just sit back and watch it all happen!

  • Funeral/Coda composed by Elliot Goldenthal. Available on the sountrack as far as I know

  • What a legend, great Corkman, he'll never be forgotten. The treaty he signed gave us "the freedom to win freedom" There was nothing he could of done. Pity he never got the chance to see how it all worked out. His death united the country. "They'll never kill me in my own county," he said, God I wish he was right.

  • i wish he was here 2 he is a legend, he was a great taction, god bless him & all the catholics

  • One of the Greatest, love the music to this anyone know what it's called.

  • good man who was forced to make a silly decision but i think he still shouldnt have turned on his own

  • I wish he wasnt shot even though he most likely wouldnt of re gained N.I he would of helped lead to it.

  • 1/7 of Irelands population turned out for this funeral for a great man

  • A great man was Michael collins. I only wish this video was longer. Well done
