I know that sounds stupid but yeah he died from drowning after having an epileptic fit. :'( He could have possibly been saved because his father had the same type of seizure at another zoo and survived.

@DerCrosser What happened in Japan was HORRIBLE, a huge TRAGEDY! What goes on in Libya is AWFUL! That does not mean that people do not have the right to be sad over the loss of Knut, who found his way into people's heart through the documentary showing his upbringing or from seeing him at the zoo, isn't sad. I think EVERYBODY understands the difference in "significance" between these things! Respect people's right to react (and grieve) when they get sad news, no matter what the news are!!!

It's kind of sad really that this person (Orcling) so obviously lacks the ability to emphatize with others who are sad over this death and even can't emphatize with an (innocent) animal like Knut... I mean, in videos we saw Knut get some sort of fit before he fell into the water where he for all we know might have drowned (if he just was unable to get his face out of the water e.g. due to a seizure)... That is nothing but sad!

@Orcling Horrible to say something like that even if it is about an animal! Even if he had not been such a famous animal, his life was cut horribly short! That is sad, even if it is not a human! Also, think of all the effort that his zoo keeper put into saving his life when he was a little cub... I bet that what his zoo keeper wanted, was for Knut to live a long bear life. Besides, why say something like that, the only reason being to upset other people? Doing such a thing is low, real low!
