Regarding Hamid Gul in all of this, one can love one's country, but leading a misadventure which was doomed to failure and didn't even gain an inch of territory is a strange way to show that love. Nawaz Sharif was apparently unaware of the Kargil operation instituted by Musharraf and likely Gul and in any case he was tossed aside after it was all over.
