This is among my favorite tracks in Hexen. It's a shame and mystery why it's reused in the Efflivium. It's the only track that is reused and it's reused in a freakin sewer, out of place like hell, downright degrading.
@JoakimfromAnka Originally this song was solely meant for Effluvium, and the Shadow Wood had a different song that was much darker and somewhat less melodic. From what I've heard, the song used in the N64 port for this level is a re-work of that song.
Definitely my favorite Hexen track, though in-game (For the PC version) there seems to be considerably less bass / drums, making it that much more ominous.
@CyclopticPoggy the original music is in .midi. later it can be converted into more modern formats as .wav which makes it sound much better cause it has better sounding sound library.
This song is perhaps the one that one remembers the most. Both this and the original midi versions are both great. It's so sad and mysterious. The music in old games just never dies.
It bothers me a little thouhg that most music in Hexen has too much of the "keeping a tempo" in the game (like in Doom), rather than 100% atmosphere as in Hexen 2. :/
Ah memories. This was the first video game I ever played.
