  • really thay are stepping up safty hours on driving but the companys are pushing the drivers to get there on time just think you cut otr many jobs will be out and trucks move the world my dad used to drive otr but now hauls oil every otr truck has a purpos of doing a job .....there not all druggies...and others .......there away from there familys for months at a time.....

  • 2:22 - rusia?

  • ok you say to ship by frieght what are you supost to do if you have a reciever in a place where trains cant go due to no tracks in that area is that reciever expected to go out of buisness?

  • One more point- I think the nations use of big rigs should be restricted. Not only are they dangerous on the highway their immense weight also tears up the roadways costing local governments many millions a year in road repairs.

Use more trains and LESS trucks.

  • @RayAir1 ray have you ever seen a spur off of a railroad track going into a mall or behind a grocery store? as you drive down the street try to picture every single store in the city having a RR track running to the back. then imagine a mile long train making deliveries to everyone of those stores. how inefficient would that be?

you need to learn more about how much 1 semi truck pays in tolls, fuel tax, permits, and licensing fees. its not as cheep as you think

  • @jnny3000

Just eliminate OTR trucking. Local trucking can take the goods from the train yard to the stores.

  • @RayAir1 thats still very inefficient. if you have a commodity thats not time sensitive shipping by train is the way to go but not everybody has that kinda time to wait on their freight. if you had an extremely large bulk of steel, oil, or coal then shipping by train would be practical. if you don't ship extremely large quantities your freight sits around waiting to be grouped with other small amounts of freight before it makes it to a freight car.

  • @jnny3000 then that freight car sits and waits for other freight cars going in the same direction but not as far. then that car might go 500 miles to be separated at a large rail hub to sit there for a day o and regrouped and then go another 1000 miles to be split and grouped agn to continue in the direction its needs to go in. this process takes about 3 weeks to go across country. trucks can go directly from the shipper to the receiver. takes about 3 to 5 days and its less likely to get damaged

  • @RayAir1 are you stupid

  • @mw2MASONPOPE

Have a nice life please....without bothering mine.

    GO AWAY.

    Thanks

  • @RayAir1 just defending the truckers...........ps no more food for you

  • @mw2MASONPOPE

They need to do away with OTR long haul trucking and use trains instead. Trains are more efficient and SAFER.

  • @RayAir1 trucks are cooler

  • In some of my semi-local business travels I have pulled over on those toll road service centers to grab a coffee at night and I've seen some of you long haul truck drivers- eyes blood shot from lack of sleep and they keep dozing off at the table then coming to. Then they get back in their rigs and start driving.

  • @RayAir1 ray you should get your cdl and spend some time in a truck and then you can make an educated guess on what goes through in a day. not all drivers have bloodshot eyes nor do all of push ourselves to those kinds of limits. keep mind driving a truck is not the same as driving a car

  • I think a lot of the problem has to do with speeding. I rarely see a truck on the freeway that isn't exceeding the speed limit.

Also, the trucking industry needs to train their drivers better. A weekend crash course at a CDL school isn't enough. That and stop hiring H.S dropout ex-cons. Big rigs also aren't compatible with our nations highways. They weigh 80,000lbs and highway barriers can't contain them so when they wipe out it's like a bomb went off, plus their weight tears up the roads.

  • @RayAir1 ever drive 55 or 60 mph 10 or 12 hours with looking cross-eyed or falling asleep. the problem here ray is there are too many people in this industry making the laws based on their speculation of whats safe when they have no clue what a driver goes through.

  • @jnny3000

So what does a driver go through, fill us in.

  • @RayAir1 at 55 miles per hour in a slow truck is extremely boring. driving slow speeds on straight interstates will hypnotize you after a while. this is a 60 hour a week job ray

  • jnny3000,

So I guess that's your excuse to speed, huh?

Speed all the time and get in accidents, and then blame the little car for cutting you off (a common excuse).

  • no actually i give cars allot of room. ultimately i am responsible for anything that comes in contact with the truck. i have to adjust my driving according to traffic flow which is fine. this keeps the job interesting. but a straight baron stretch of road at 60 mph will put you to sleep. BTW i have no excuses. never had an accident. if you'd like i could take you for a ride sometime. then maybe you'd understand.

  • @RayAir1 wow you really dont get it do you its easy driving a 6000lbs minivan in snow the worst that happens is if you do wreck soccer balls, and sippy cups go everywere driving a 16400lbs with an extra 50000lbs 53' box riding piggyback is alot diffrent if a trucker wrecks he could lose his/her job which means while you go to sleep at night a truckers family is starving and going to lose there house and everything they have earned so nect time you see a trucker thank him buy him something to eat

  • @bmwmegtr

I think they need to find a better way to ship goods. I am really pushing to get more done by train. Trains have a much better safety record than big rigs.

The problem with big rigs is that the drivers (truckers) are always pushing it to the max trying to rush to the next destination. This cause them to speed, pass, and take chances. Fatigue also plays a part. Most drivers falsify their logs and drive for 16 hours straight.

  • @jnny3000 dont listen to ray he's just pissed because his girlfriend has the hots for truckers and not winny little bitches thats why she left him because he wines to much and so what if truckers dont have high school diploma it doesnt mean you can go 10 - 12 hours doing the same thing shifting gears, steering and letting little winy rays get on the road i respect trucks let them in instead of the other way around really apreciate what you do

  • @bmwmegtr man somebody has really pissed him off

  • @rayAir1 id also like to add that my uncle, my father, and i are all "H.S. dropouts", my uncle retired with $15,000,000 of equipment and now lives comfortably on his 10 acre ranch. my father spent 30 years in the teamsters union, has over 4 million miles under his belt and has 1 accident that one speeding ticket EVER. i myself have have over a milion miles, traversed this nation several times, hauled loads over 14' tall and 14' wide. no tickets or wrecks. several safety awards.

  • at 1:26, why the fuck would you haul a sea container backwards??????
