  • Those are Hamilton Standard props on the CV-580, like the ones used on the P-3's and many C-130['s. The square tipped props were manufactured by Aero Products and I don't think they are around anymore.

  • N73104 is just not a former United Express Aircraft, it was one of the first Convair 340's delivered to United Air Lines, almost 60 years ago in late 1952

  • I think I like the sound of the 440 better than the 580...

  • Excellent footage of a most important - but neglected aircraft. You have really captured the atmosphere and sounds related to my memories from the early sixties!

  • i think these two types of airliners would make a great addition to an air museum of Airworthy vintage aircraft thanks for sharing Ryan!

  • that 580 has the same rounded type props that the 5800 use, not the traditonal squared off props.

  • Easter Airlines operated some of these airplanes (I think) and I rode one from Alabama to Georgia. (I think). I remember it had reciprocating engines not turboprops. This was in 1957.

  • wonderful footage! Is N73104 a former United Express aircraft?

  • @jjouney, it sure was. Thanks!
