@hikinguphigh yes i have the same except for 8GB ram i have 4GB & 1695MB VGA but the main thing which lags because is ur VGA is probably integrated, if u wan't to run it smoothly buy a dedicated VGA.

i downloaded this game and played it on two diferrent pc, 1st :core 2 duo, win 7 pro, 2 gb ram ( a boring and slow pc ) and gta IV was slow on it.. then i played the same downloaded version on a i5 with 4 gb ram and win 7 ultimte installed in it but still i didnt felt any BIG change in the speed,. i asked some guys and they said its coz i have downloaded this game, if i had bought this game on seperate dvds, then it should run perfect, do any one of u now Y the hell is this happending

@turabjafri well, this happened to me too, and i just had to get a new graphics card (nVidia geforce 9500 i think), and i deleted A LOT of games that i didnt want, and i disabled the Windows event log (look it up on youtube, instructions take long to type-_-), and unfortunately i had to put everything in the graphics section on GTA IV to low and video mode on 800x600 (60htz) and GTA IV was perfect since then! good luck mate!

You will open up Processes and basically end everything that doesn't say Windows or Explorer or anything that sounds important under the "Description" column. You cant tell what to close by just reading the name unless you are a programmer. If you widen the window it will make the description easier to see, If a description is not labled or you are unsure, be safe and dont close it.
