From Tony Toni Tone to Hammer to the Coup to Digital Underground and now Kev Choice. The bay is where it's at for originality. (and yes Hammer was original)
When rap took over the mainstream and pushed hiphop underground, most people just accepted it and kept rockin the top 40.look at the industry now. i Also know i wont be looking up any soldier boy 18 years from now and feel the way the coup make me does. that makes them alot more valueable

i was like 14 or 15..or hell i don't even think i was in highschool yet when this "TAPE" came out..so with that said..wtf is wrong with this generation of kids?..was we just smarter back then or something?..cuz kids age 14-17 or so don't have anything like this..all they have is lil'wayne & gucci mane and bullshit like that..times have really changed, but not for the better.
@6angelo9 Don't blame the pop rappers, cus pop-rap has been around since hip hop has. In fact hip hop was founded on pop-rap. Blame people for not becoming political rappers.
@6angelo9 I'm 14-17 and i listen to this. I don't even like wayne, gucci, or nikki. Its true that few kids my generation listen to this stuff. The rap they listen to is dumbing them and they don't like real rap cause they don't understand it. People barley know who tupac is in my school...
@MissMultiracial, show them Tupac. He still slaps. This music is awesome but the beat might not attract your classmates. Tupac has conscious music on good beats (and when you show them "Changes", make it clear that Obama is not the black President Tupac wanted).
@LiBlub1 In no way was i trying to get "recognition" i just wanted people to feel a little better knowing that there are a few kids my age that do actually listen to this. I think this discussion is over, fighting over the internet is pathetic, kay thanks bye.
i am guessing it meant how ppl started using the word nigga in such an ignorant fashion and ppl forget the word and make it into some word like dude, as well as attacking rappers from groups like nwa in or others.
Love this song! Lyrical content is great, and love the Cymande sample of "The Message", best use of it since "Me & The Biz" by Masta Ace. The Coup is the greatest.

Am I the only one who noticed 3:04-3:09 is exactly the same tune as KMD - Gasface Refill? It's off their 1991 album Mr. Hood.
