i see you have problem on fire.... 1 good way to fix it is go back of marrogar (only hunters cant do this) at melee and you will dont take damage from the fire :) but you must have the deadly boss to know the time of bladestorm :P try it and have fun :P

Whats the Fight about last time i checked this game is for advancement, ok you can do good dps big deal, your surviving the fight and progressing with friends its that simple. No disrepect to Nishiyamo he' s certainly a good mage and got that way from taking simple patience to learn a class and the will to progress we will all be this good if we try and progress and go to means to learn a class.

ifexx, I just started to play WoW and im only lvl 11 with my undead mage i made the other day. Now I played WoW a while ago but never a mage, can you give me some ideas on what addons I should use?
not so impressive i do 7k on that boss with arcane and with fire i did 7.2k :/ and why do you use barrage before missiles in the stack. more effective to use missiles first and always end rotation with barrage. sometimes i dont even to barrage so :/

Hey now! :P The numbers aren't fictional, they're real! I used to have SotM as well and thought it was a nice dps boost until I found out otherwise. Both math + actual testing shows the increasement is minimal. 3/3 SotM only gives about 50-60 extra dps. Even for mana regeneration 1 point in AMeditation is more powerful than 3/3 SotM. But like you said, both ways work fine as arcane is still powerful either way. I'm just a little elitist about it and will always search on for improvements:) Peace
You're wayyyy over the hit cap for your arcane tree. You could try getting some DPS trinkets, even Abyssal Rune does more DPS than the ones you use right now!
Or drop some points from Arcane Focus (& SotM ;) and spread them around into Magic Attunement/Arcane Stability/Incanter's Absorption.. (and 2/2 into Frost Warding instead of Ice Shards). :)

I know your vids are for newcomers but "collecting spirit" to reach maximum dps is just bad advice :\ Spirit is a BAD attribute. You waste 3 talent points in Student of the Mind; some quick math: ICC geared mage has about 350~500 spirit, lets say 430. So you gain 43spirit (10%) > 55% (glyphed) molten armor will give you 23.65 crit rate > That's about 0.5%(!!) crit bonus Lol.
Everyone should play their characters as they want, but wasting 3 talent points to get 0.5% more crit is silly.
@smorrie Of course it's a waste to spend 3 talent points in a talent when you don't aim for the proper gear. Get yourself 1400 spirit and do the math again with 75% conversion rate with T9 set bonus + glyph. It works perfectly and yes, you don't reach a spell power level of a T10,5 mage and you won't get a ultra fast casting speed but you compensate for this with an enormous crit rate high above 65% and an unbelievable fast mana regen. It'll only work until Cataclysm though.
@ifexx Why do you have 3/3 Student of the Mind then lol? There's no way any mage has 1400 spirit - but even if so, you'd be working on a really bad set of gear and hurting your DPS so much by stacking wrong gear. While T9 scales spirit a bit better (+15% bonus = 70%), it's still a waste. Let's say 500spi > 50 bonus > 70% gives 35crit rate > 0.76% crit bonus.
Don't try to argue this lol, spirit is bad, everone knows. You need 656spi for 1% crit from that 3/3 SotM. Incineration gives 2% for 1 :p

Don't give ppl the wrong impression just because you think the "normal" way is the only one to get your dps. 1400 is possible raidbuffed, and it's not difficult at all, with my "low" eq mage I even do have about 1,1k raidbuffed so I know that I'm talking about. Interesting is the fact that you can spam AB all the way through a bossfight without even use AM once, and with a crit chance of about 85% with AB this is equal to haste/sp T10 gear.
@ifexx Supply some numbers to support your ideas; it sounds great but it's simple untrue. AB spam is great, UNTIL 2t10, especially in regards to mana management. T10 will always outdps T9.
Even BiS ToC gear (incl. hard modes etc.) only gives 491 spirit. +80 (prayer) +57 (kings) = 628. With 3/3 SotM you don't even hit 1% crit bonus.
Once again: Don't ever stack for spirit. It's a nice mini-bonus when there, but unfortunately there's nothing more to it.

It's okay since it's only natural for people to have different opinions, but don't do math with something you didn't try out even once, because those information are unreliable. Getting to know your class is learning by doing and not by calculating fictional numbers. I can understand the ruckus about spirit, it's a great discussion topic anyway. Both ways of building your mage work perfectly, there's no doubt about this. It's up to the player which way he goes.

ah yeah nishiyamo i wanna ask about trinket that i must take it from frost mark u mean that trinket equip: hit use : give 710 sp for 20 sec , or u mean the trinket equip : SP use: restore mana? and i replace it with abyss rune or the noather trinket? thanks alot!
@7amood29 Like I said, my suggestion would be the trinket for frost marks (spelldmg / manareg procc) and temporarily the 599sp thing or pandora's plae.

@7amood29 top gear, top spec, but try to get some other trinkets. Abyssal Rune is quite nice I know, but it's really outdated. Even Pandorra's Plae is much better and this is an Ulduar item. The ice crystal thing is .. well I know I'm wearing it too atm, but just because I had no choice. You will be better off with the spell dmg / manareg trinket for frost marks and Pandorra's Plae or an ICC trinket (I know they're hard to get). As for the rest, you're doing very nice!

omg that was a rly bad grp u ware playin with, to be at 3k dps at marrowgar is like harder to have then to have 15k dps on him :O, else nice vid, though it's therorycreafted or what they call it that the set bonuses from T10is mbetter, when I changed it way back ago, I rased my dps with 1.5k insta overall and with cds popped I did 5k more dps. but everything is a matter of play style to ofc :)
Also noticed u had loads of crit on your gear, I think you would do better dmg and dps as fb/totw or ffb specced depending on what ur mainly doin in the raids like playstyle etc.
@bebban9292 It's a matter of what your focus is. With T9 I've got 70% conversion rate (Spirit -> Crit Rating), with approx. 1700 Spirit (high end gear) this would mean an increase in Crit Rating of about 1190. Raidbuffed and with my spec I would get about 25% extra crit chance just because of Molten Armor. Additionally I'll get an unbelievable mana regeneration that allows me to do 8-11 (or even more) AB's in a row. That's my theory and I'm gonna demonstrate how this looks like.
@ifexx yea thats true, though if you are in a good raiding guild, dont know if you are?, then you offen get an innervate from the druids coz then normally wont need it so during cds or when not MB procc you can pritty much spamm AB how much you want to maximise my dps with around 1.1k Haste. and with the T10x2 set bonus and whith IV at the last second of the cd + BL since cds are used when BL usually my evo is less than 3seconds. so I really wont loose that much dps when evo, get ur point though

@7amood29 In my opinion, T9 is much better for my spec than the T10 gear set. This is primarily because of the +15% spirit conversion into crit rating. I'm going to upgrade my T9 to the highest level (T9,75 or whatever), that will work fine. Music name is in the descripton. Part 3 won't come anymore, I'm going to renew the whole tutorial as soon as I got some equip and data.
@ShadowsEdg3 your gemming straight haste bro, go for sp. ALWAYS. except your yellow sockets, then use a 12 sp 10 haste. try to get haste more from your gear instead of gemming for it, a few things you could do are 1)pick up the 245 triumph ring and the triumph trinket to replace the 232 one youre using,KEEP ABYSSAL RUNE 2) replace your wand with the one off northrend beasts in 10 man 3) keep working on your t10. Also, your spec is a little off. Armory my mage: Andriustin: US Burning Blade
hey, a reply to your reply of my previous comment, i think i use the arc 4stack debuff corecctly, 4stack debuff then arc missiles with proc right? theres obviously something im not doing or something im doing differently, i still manage 6-10k dps on bosses and 10k+ on trash in icc10, but i just get max of maby 17k crit, and only a max of 20k when im popin' all cds. Help is appreciated mate :)
@ShadowsEdg3 I really don't know, I would do more than 4 AB's, 6-7 should work nicely with your gear. This won't give you higher crits though. I really don't know why you don't get 20k+ crits, I cannot see you doing anything wrong.
dude, i have the same spec as you, glyphs, more sp, more haste more crit, and yeat i cant get those wtfstupid 20k+ crits in a normal rotation!?? and my gs is like 5.4k, wtf man, what are you doing that is making you able to do this?
@ShadowsEdg3 You got some great gear there. Especially the staff is REALLY nice for this spec. From my point of view you should be able to do crits of about 22k without dmg buffs. Maybe you don't use the 4th stack of AB properly? But I don't think so because you seem quite experienced.
@SlashitlikeSonic Well this is a difficult question. It somehow depends on the situation. My gear is just average at the moment, so I cannot afford to spam like crazy. I basically don't use more than 6-7 AB's in a row (without clearcasts), because my mana would have been drained too much. Better gear with more spirit will help me raising the number of AB's I can spam in a row.
@zXxSinDitxXz Getting the average gear is quite simple just by collecting marks. Get yourself the T9-set and some trinkets for emblems. Some items also drop in the three new 5-men heroic instances.
@zXxSinDitxXz You can get T9 with triumph emblems, the vendor is @ toc arena :) It's a good basis until you go for T10, but I, for my part, won't do so because there's no spirit on the gear and the set boni are less good than those of the T9 set. For fire mages / arcane mages with focus on haste it would be perfect.
@ifexx ToC? I found one in dal for alliance. Ive been playing with haste for a while + the PoM Pyro spec its good for new 80's. Good haste and Damage.
@zXxSinDitxXz Yep I've been playing with haste one year ago and it was quite good but now I focus on Spirit, think this is gonna be even more awesome. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Pyro spec and to my surprise I didn't even find one single fire mage since I came back to the game one month ago. I am still thinking that fire is much better in several fights just because it's more flexible with movement.
@ifexx To be honest i think haste is pretty much focused around PvP other than PvE. Unless your really serious about DPS on your boss. Im still gonna stick with the haste & stats you recommended in your tutorial.
@zXxSinDitxXz I'm not very skilled in PvP so I can hardly say what attributes would be the best in this case, but when thinking logically I would prefer haste aswell. In PvE haste is really nice and it works fine, but there are always different possibilities to develop your character in various ways.. the best example is fire vs arcane, one year ago it was impossible to say which one is stronger because they were too much different. This is now the case with spirit and haste. It's interesting.

@7amood29 Purified Lunar Dust -> Equip: Increases spell power by 179.
Equip: Your spell casts have a chance to grant 304 mana per 5 sec for 15 sec. .. this should work for a while.

@7amood29 Like I said, my suggestion would be the trinket for frost marks (spelldmg / manareg procc) and temporarily the 599sp thing or pandora's plae.

@7amood29 top gear, top spec, but try to get some other trinkets. Abyssal Rune is quite nice I know, but it's really outdated. Even Pandorra's Plae is much better and this is an Ulduar item. The ice crystal thing is .. well I know I'm wearing it too atm, but just because I had no choice. You will be better off with the spell dmg / manareg trinket for frost marks and Pandorra's Plae or an ICC trinket (I know they're hard to get). As for the rest, you're doing very nice!

omg that was a rly bad grp u ware playin with, to be at 3k dps at marrowgar is like harder to have then to have 15k dps on him :O, else nice vid, though it's therorycreafted or what they call it that the set bonuses from T10is mbetter, when I changed it way back ago, I rased my dps with 1.5k insta overall and with cds popped I did 5k more dps. but everything is a matter of play style to ofc :)

Also noticed u had loads of crit on your gear, I think you would do better dmg and dps as fb/totw or ffb specced depending on what ur mainly doin in the raids like playstyle etc.

@bebban9292 It's a matter of what your focus is. With T9 I've got 70% conversion rate (Spirit -> Crit Rating), with approx. 1700 Spirit (high end gear) this would mean an increase in Crit Rating of about 1190. Raidbuffed and with my spec I would get about 25% extra crit chance just because of Molten Armor. Additionally I'll get an unbelievable mana regeneration that allows me to do 8-11 (or even more) AB's in a row. That's my theory and I'm gonna demonstrate how this looks like.

@ifexx yea thats true, though if you are in a good raiding guild, dont know if you are?, then you offen get an innervate from the druids coz then normally wont need it so during cds or when not MB procc you can pritty much spamm AB how much you want to maximise my dps with around 1.1k Haste. and with the T10x2 set bonus and whith IV at the last second of the cd + BL since cds are used when BL usually my evo is less than 3seconds. so I really wont loose that much dps when evo, get ur point though

@7amood29 In my opinion, T9 is much better for my spec than the T10 gear set. This is primarily because of the +15% spirit conversion into crit rating. I'm going to upgrade my T9 to the highest level (T9,75 or whatever), that will work fine. Music name is in the descripton. Part 3 won't come anymore, I'm going to renew the whole tutorial as soon as I got some equip and data.

@ShadowsEdg3 your gemming straight haste bro, go for sp. ALWAYS. except your yellow sockets, then use a 12 sp 10 haste. try to get haste more from your gear instead of gemming for it, a few things you could do are 1)pick up the 245 triumph ring and the triumph trinket to replace the 232 one youre using,KEEP ABYSSAL RUNE 2) replace your wand with the one off northrend beasts in 10 man 3) keep working on your t10. hey, a reply to your reply of my previous comment, i think i use the arc 4stack debuff corecctly, 4stack debuff then arc missiles with proc right? theres obviously something im not doing or something im doing differently, i still manage 6-10k dps on bosses and 10k+ on trash in icc10, but i just get max of maby 17k crit, and only a max of 20k when im popin' all cds. Help is appreciated mate :)

@ShadowsEdg3 I really don't know, I would do more than 4 AB's, 6-7 should work nicely with your gear. This won't give you higher crits though. I really don't know why you don't get 20k+ crits, I cannot see you doing anything wrong.

dude, i have the same spec as you, glyphs, more sp, more haste more crit, and yeat i cant get those wtfstupid 20k+ crits in a normal rotation!?? and my gs is like 5.4k, wtf man, what are you doing that is making you able to do this?

@ShadowsEdg3 You got some great gear there. Especially the staff is REALLY nice for this spec. From my point of view you should be able to do crits of about 22k without dmg buffs. Maybe you don't use the 4th stack of AB properly? But I don't think so because you seem quite experienced.

@SlashitlikeSonic Well this is a difficult question. It somehow depends on the situation. My gear is just average at the moment, so I cannot afford to spam like crazy. I basically don't use more than 6-7 AB's in a row (without clearcasts), because my mana would have been drained too much. Better gear with more spirit will help me raising the number of AB's I can spam in a row.

@zXxSinDitxXz Getting the average gear is quite simple just by collecting marks. Get yourself the T9-set and some trinkets for emblems. Some items also drop in the three new 5-men heroic instances.

@zXxSinDitxXz You can get T9 with triumph emblems, the vendor is @ toc arena :) It's a good basis until you go for T10, but I, for my part, won't do so because there's no spirit on the gear and the set boni are less good than those of the T9 set. For fire mages / arcane mages with focus on haste it would be perfect.

@zXxSinDitxXz Yep I've been playing with haste one year ago and it was quite good but now I focus on Spirit, think this is gonna be even more awesome. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Pyro spec and to my surprise I didn't even find one single fire mage since I came back to the game one month ago. I am still thinking that fire is much better in several fights just because it's more flexible with movement.

@ifexx To be honest i think haste is pretty much focused around PvP other than PvE. Unless your really serious about DPS on your boss. Im still gonna stick with the haste & stats you recommended in your tutorial.

@zXxSinDitxXz I'm not very skilled in PvP so I can hardly say what attributes would be the best in this case, but when thinking logically I would prefer haste aswell. In PvE haste is really nice and it works fine, but there are always different possibilities to develop your character in various ways.. the best example is fire vs arcane, one year ago it was impossible to say which one is stronger because they were too much different. This is now the case with spirit and haste. It's interesting.
