@Randomosity999 - The only hard thing I found about Dark Samus in Prime 2 was (attempting to avoid spoilers here) a certain fight where you're required to do something that had never been done in the Prime saga prior to this event and is never used again afterwards if I remember correctly. The only hint you're even given of this is when you scan Dark Samus a second time in this fight and when you scan after a certain point. Again, this was totally new concept with Prime's scanning feature.
@ScubaSteve1974 hey i have a question about the Trilogy before i buy it, do i have to use my old GC controller and memory card for MP 1 and 2? or does it save w/o the GC memory card? I've been itching to play em since I gave my copies away :(
@WhipLash42o - There's nothing Gamecube about MP1 and MP2 on the Trilogy disc. They use the wiimote exclusively (the GCN controller isn't even an option) and save to a standard Wii-style save file on the Wii's internal memory. This is a MP Trilogy save file that contains all of your MP1, MP2, and MP3 data. The Trilogy game cannot read old save files from a Gamecube memory card or even a wii-save file from MP3.
@ScubaSteve1974 how is the shooting on MP1 and 2 with the Wiimote? is it pretty solid? kinda sucks about the memory card but im cool with starting over :D
@WhipLash42o - It's exactly like MP3. I did notice that my cursor gets funky and stuck when I point to the top of the screen and that only happens in Metroid Prime games so I don't know what the deal is there. Fortunately this rarely ever becomes an issue. I only wish they had implemented the quick 180 degree turn feature used in RE4 because Samus is a bit slow when turning and the RE4 keystroke would have fit in without messing anything up.
@ScubaSteve1974 cool i'll go buy it soon then, I wasnt sure if i was gonna have to buy a new GC controller also and if the shooting was solid you just helped me out a ton thanks :D
i feel like mp2 didnt have anything to do with the series, i mean 1, and 3 both focus on phazon and 2 doesnt, besides the fact that the planet was hit by a leviathan but you didnt even know that it was until 3
I prefer 2, but pt 1 seems better because it was such a massive revolutionary advance from the 2D Metroid around at the time. Retro managed to get so many ideas to work so perfectly that most things weren't even tweaked in the sequels. The exception being the use of the boost while on magnetic rails was added in pt 2.
Metroid Prime 2 was simply an evolutionary advancement where new features were added but it was an advancement nonetheless.
I'd have to disagree. Prime 2 didn't top Prime 1 in any areas, and didn't fulfill its own additions like it could have. It was a huge shame that the Light and Dark beams required ammo, there was too much dialogue, and the Screw Attack was the biggest disappointment in the game.
NOW J00 CAN SCALE TEH WALLS AND JUM TEH GAPS.
... Fucking great, I wanted to kill stuff with it.
I felt pt2 was superior because it kept everything from the original and added to it with things like boost on rails, screw attack, multiple missiles, etc. I thought Gravity Boost was a clever twist on the Gravity Suit idea. It also seemed to have larger areas with more interactive objects. I love both but I felt the developers reached further since they already figured out the game play mechanics with the predecessor.
Screw Attack was crippled from its 2D version, but I don't think the 2D version would work in a 3D FPS. In 2D, screw attack allowed you to fly anywhere and change direction immediately. I'm sure they tested it out and found it really didn't work well in 3D, and some things don't.
Too much dialog in pt2? There was hardly any! It was basically on par with scnning a few extra lore entries.
Pt3 goes even further in the direction begun with pt2. What'd you think of that game?
Wait, technically my answer is incorrect! The best game is Metroid Prime Trilogy! Forget about which was better, just go out and get the best deal in gaming for 50 and have a blast!
@Timic83amv - I can understand that. Pointing a controller to represent pointing a gun is very unintuitive. It's much more intuitive for a shooter to be controlled in the same way a person edits a spreadsheet with a keyboard and mouse. But seriously, I don't know your preferred control scheme so what is yours? BTW, I thought the Gamecube's MP controls were the best FPS controls available for a controlpad, but fumbling around with dual analog and a keyboard/mouse setup is archaic at best.
I remember one time I played this that I somehow went through the lift's walls at 2:13 and fell through the shaft into a pit. I had to restart the game because I couldn't get out(and I was so close to that Save Station too).
for me the best metroid is zero mission " for me"

Trilogy controls are much better for the average gamer.
Speedrunners might not like them though, because they are unstable in a way and you will be abusing lock-on anyway.

@YacubCubby13579ZR You mean the scan dash? You just scan, then hold the direction you want to move and dash.
