if you texture and apply details and bumpmaps in zbrush, whats the point of going to the work of making a clean looking uv, whats wrong with the perfect zbrush tiled uv
Nothing is wrong with Zbrush UV tile map if you plan to simply use it in a picture. But Zbrush simply breaks up every face into its own UV Shells and this produces seams in when rendered. Although not very noticeable in a picture, in a real time environment they are quite evident. If you have ever noticed a obvious seam that appears on a video game character for instance. Plus by laying them out this way, you can choose what faces get more of the pixel detail, and where the actual seams show up.
Yes be sure that when you bake out the textures to start painting them that you realize the prior texture has been replaced with the baked out uv lines.
I have a problem. I can get back my texture in the UV Texture Editor. The background image is always white. The Diplay Image is checked. I don't find what cause that.
First you want to build the mesh you are going to use in Maya, then when you have it where you like it. You will want to go to Window>Settings/Preferences>Plug-in Manager. This will open a new window where you will need to enable objExport.mll by checking the radio box. After that you should now be able to select your model and choose File>ExportSelection>OptionBox. Inside change the file type under the dropdown menu to OBJexport. Go down to the bottom and be sure all the options are checked off
Then save the Obj file to an accessible folder by using the "Export Selection" button at the bottom of the window. In Zbrush you will now go to the "Tools" Palette and select the button that says "Import". Find your obj file and draw it on the canvas. Then press "T" on the keyboard or click the "Edit Mode" towards the top to begin sculpting on the object.
To open the UV Editor window you need to be sure you are in the "Polygons" Main Menu Subset found in the drop down menu on the left.
Then move to the right and choose: Edit UVs>UV Texture Editor. This will open the editor in a new window. Or you can go down to the left and choose the Outliner/Persp Layout and then in the Outliner window, choose: Panels>Panel>UV Texture Editor. This provides a nice side by side view.
Well I have a programmer in my studio that does that for me so I'm not quite the technical person to ask. But we use the XNA framework for our engine and they have a pipeline compiler that turns my DXF files into machine code, so that is the way to probably go about it in your case, at least something probably similar.

I have both maya and Zbrush and i was wondering how would one go about use maya to zbrush and back to maya again. And what are the major benefits?

You should press 3 and see it smoothed out, i think that would look really good.

Only problem is this is a polygon mesh and not NURBS. Normally however that would definitely be the way to go.
