Sparks the memory of waking up on a weekday with nothing to do, followed by not a care in the world... life experience and wisdom is all good, but there is something about those mornings I am sure we all miss.
Seeing these old commercials and promos seem to just put you back for a flash :D
The CBC is a joke a waste of money keeping these clowns around, look at what they did to classic programs like this these assholes at CBC need to get it together losers
I agree 100%. Taxpayer funded shows like these classics should be available to all who request them for a song! Instead CBC feed us a steady diet of American programming that can be seen on any American channel day and night! If I were in charge this and all classic Canadian progamming from bygone days would be available on dvd and online.
@UncleLarrysVault I agree with you its like the CBC is a shame of Canada's heritage the CBC makes me sickmaybe it needs to be boycotted to send a message for its arrogance towards such fine programming that helped develope our imaginations.
@UncleLarrysVault Towards what you are talking about a year ago I had an email exchange with the CBC suggesting they adopt either a "video on demand" streaming approach or a "made on demand" DVD system a la Warner Archives for their vast library as there was keen interest to see many of these old programs which were, yes, funded by tax payers. They considered it an interesting idea but cited artist copyrights as a reason for not doing it. If Warner Archives (and others) can, then CBC can too.
Does anyone have all the episodes i would love them on DVD, I am 30 and actually named my dog Finnegan.. ohhh what i would give to watch all these again!!!!!! I Miss you Mr Dressup!!!!
I loved Mr Dressup as a kid !! Did they ever explain why Casey taked but his mouth did not move yet Finnigan coud move his mouth but could nit talk or even bark ?/
This show taught kids to be kids. A stuffed dog, that I still have I called Finnegan. The tickle trunk is the bomb. Always the perfect costume. The Owl on the wall terrified me.
He did a concert in my town when I was in grade 6, and I didn't get tickets because I thought I was too "old" for Mr. Dressup. Still kicking myself about that :(
@JonLeibow He did a concert in my town too. I think it was 1986 or 87. I think I was 6 at the time. While we were waiting for the doors to open, he came out to greet everybody. And the show itself still has me laughing almost 25 years later. He was a great icon and sorely missed.
Ernie Coombs once came to town and a friend and I went to see him in grade 9 (about 1986) because we had to watch and review a live show for Drama class. I had watched him when I was younger but didn't really think I would really enjoy the show at that age. I was totally wrong. He's a very talented musician and put on a fantastic show mixed with music and comedy. I remember being totally impressed.
My dad once was mistaken for Mr. Dress up, which was very cool, he was sitting in our car, he looked out of the window a there were two kids staring at him, when the older of the two said "my sister wants to know if your Mr. Dress up ?" and he didn't have the heart to burst there bubble so he told a little lie, and said yes and they were thrilled, and until that moment I never realized that he really did look like Mr.Dress up.
I used to watch all these shows :) Mr. Dressup was wonderful. He was everyone's surrogate dad (even for those of us who had awesome dads - well for us he was our surrogate uncle ;))
I remember The Elephant Show & Fred Penner's place bc they were on Nickelodeon when I was a kid. Nick also played Today's Special, which was another Canadian show & one of my favorites growing up. I'm guessing Mr. Dressup was exclusive to Canada, though, bc I've never heard of it.
this might sound weird, and is totally off topic...but the music for that show Wonderstruck was pretty badass.
