I'm a teenager. I love Donovan. I love musicians who came out in the 60's and 70's and made (or in some cases like in the case of music, still make) such great music. My generation doesn't have good music, sadly. And of course this is such a classic poem, have always loved it.

Re Donovan's "Irishness." First, as was noted by reference to Wikipedia, he lives in Ireland. Second, one can be both Scottish and Irish at the same time. An American might say "I'm Italian"--meaning "I'm of Italian heritage," just so there are many people of Irish heritage in Glasgow, where Donovan grew up. Even more to the point, "Donovan" is an Irish name of Gaelic origin. So, I don't have specific proof he is one of the many "Glasgow Irish," the circumstantial evidence is compelling.
