Looks like you do not undestand much and use Anu Mohummad as your advisor. Anu Mohummad is a communist anti development thug and is only in it for himslef. He is not worried about poor bangladeshi's. He is a taker.
Again pull your head out of the sand and come back to Bangladesh and see the real situation.
If you use Anu Mohummad as your advisor then its now clear to me how stupid you really are.
And yes... moron... 45% is a corporate tax. And Yes royalty is done all over the world... and again yes... maybe you need to sacrifice 40,000 people in order to give life to 160 million. And lastly only the steel making coal will be exported I have read. All the rest will be consumed here by other coal fired power stations.
You really have no idea do you? I know for one you do not live here in Bangladesh and being constantly hampered by electrity cuts as I am. Where will you get the electricity to power to the people of Bangladesh. You have to use your own resources moron. Climate change. Your as bad as all of them. Bangladesh does not put out enough emissions anyway due to the lack of power. So your going to restrict them from having power because of climate change. Your living in a world of your own.
Bangladesh is going to be fucked royally by rising sea levels. Climate change is gonna be real bad for bangladesh. Bangladesh should be preemptively sueing the west for the damage from climate change and getting renewables instead of cash- wind turbines, solar panels etc. Over 80% of the coal was gonna be exported. And how many of those people who were going to be kicked off their land so the mine could be built have electricity? Not many I reckon. The people know better than the mining company
'Anti national'. So you're a nationalist. Who reckons BHP knows what is good for the nation better than tens of thousands of Bangladeshis do.
Where did you get the 45% figure? Come on, he who reveals false facts. Where did yours come from?
Mine came from Professor Anu Muhammad who spoke on the aid watch 'voices from bangladesh' tour.
You racist moron, assuming you know better than the tens of thousands of people who stopped this mine, and cooking up bullshit royalty figures out of thin air.
Your as ignorant as I thought. You really have no idea of the consequenses of not having an alteranate energy source other than natural gas. You have no idea what royalty tax is or corporate tax for that matter. Your voice of reason Anu Mohammad is a leftist who is intent on ruining the lives of millions of Bangladeshies who are without electricity and a country that needs development. Pull your head out of the sand and wake up. Not voices from Bangladesh. Everyone else wants electricity...
What we need to ensure is people who are going to be displaced are compensated fairly and livelyhoods protected. Thats what we expect from Asia Energy. Rebuild, relocate, resettle, reclaim land back after maining. All these issues. They claim to do that and I believe them as the world is watching them. This mine will give jobs to the region which needs a boost. It gives power to western Bangladesh for once. 90% of all power stations are on the east side. Bangladesh needs 10 coalmines not one.
Anti Bangladesh propaganda that is being spread by people who are only in it for themselves. Getting funds from vested interests. They want state owned enterprise (SOE)to run coal mining where no SOE makes any money for the country as it stands. Plus it has no expertise in mining. Baraparkuria is a 1600 crore loss to the nation. Pull your heads out of the sand and wake up. This country needs coal or you will be reading books from a candle in 20 years with no jobs.
people like u told earlier bangladesh is floating on natural gas, we must export it. where have thos reserves gone after 10 years? who sucked that? noe u r telling us that same old story. ur types of development r disastarous to nature and people.
Terrifying stuff. One question, why did the government sign a contract for such a small percentage, when the company (basically a huge hedge fund) will make Billions!!
yeah thats right jengadude. Those of us who know better than the tens of thousands of residents from phulbari who protested against this mine truly understand what they need: a big fucking coal mine that depletes the water table in one of bangladesh's main food basins. Stupid lefties. If only they weren't so stupid they would understand that with the 6% royalty bangladesh recieved from the mine it could import food and repatriate the ten thousand or so people who would be displaced by the mine.
Actually these "lefties" are anti national and anti development for Bangladesh. You tell me where your going to get your power from when the natural gas runs out. No power means no development or growth to the country. You obviously don't understand what royalty is. Otherwise you would know that it is one of many taxes the Governments apply. Like 45% corporate tax, all the import and export duties, payroll tax etc. It doesn't mean the company keeps 94%. Learn before you give false facts.
Avaaz.org is conducting an online signature campaign on this issue under the heading "Coal Climate Showdown in Bangladesh."
