I didnt even have to buy either of these double trouble tunes as my mum liked them so much she went out and got them for her own collection back in 89 ha ha :-) way to go mum!
I only found out the other week that Matt "Jam" Lamont was involved in the production of this track (8 years or so before the rise of "Tuff Jam"). There was a 5 minute version of this mix isn't there? Great track, great post, does sound like it needs to be pitched up though.
Michael Menson was racially abused, assaulted and set alight on the North Circular Road in North London on 28 January 1997. He died from his injuries on 16 February 1997.
The police response was to treat Michael's death as a suicide. Despite a huge amount of evidence which contradicted this theory, they remained steadfast.
Top drawer! I heard this on Radio 1 at 6:45 this morning, I thought I was dreaming! It was Michael Menson and yeah he was set on fire on fire in an attack & died as a result. Isn't Menson the guy at the beginning of the video with the drumsticks? R.I.P dude.

the bassline is sampled from 54-46 (Thats My Number) By Toots And The Maytals. So actually, he can't play bass, more just sample it.
