  • great work, you should get the rights for that idea man!

  • carrement inutil serieux

  • its called a link

  • wow! nice apochromatic telescope!

  • can you give me the GlovePIE script and PPJoy settings? or dont have anymore? :/

  • do you mind me asking you.. how much did you spend on your telescope?

  • The total setup there was around $2k back when this video was made.

  • you have got a sweet piece of gadget. I am trying to buy one soon but there is so much to learn about them before buying it, therefore I am in the process of learning about them so that I dont end up wasting my money and telescope. But yeah thanks for sharing the information!

  • $1400 for the go-to mount.... tube is about $350

  • good idea and good vid

  • Pretty cool! thank for the post

  • If you use a diagonal with a refractor and cassegrain telescope you can get a rightside up image but it will be backwards. (these are made of mirrors or glass prisms) for new people it is the 90 or 45 degree tubes at your eye piece you find on the end of the scope.

  • thats kewl.

  • Does he even hav it polar aligned???

  • genius

  • Super Mario Galaxy perhaps?

  • Mario in space? Nice job finding an out of the box solution. Kudos.

  • Is anyone having trouble seeing anything through their telescopes these days? How's your visibility?

  • NINTENDO does it again!

  • does anyone know why I am see the images thru my telescope flipped?

  • It is flipped because you are using a Mirror or a lense?

In astronomy, objects is the night sky doesnt matter if it is flipped.

    Thats how telescope works..

  • move to australia....LOL

  • i lol'd.

Even I, who has never seen through a telesscope's eyepiece, know that they flip the image...thats how they manage to magnify it.

  • Comment removed

  • That was great, good in setting it all up. How long did it take to get it all working together once you all the pieces and software needed?

  • If i had a telescope like that, i'd be fucking afraid of it breaking.... idk just being random.

  • uhm... what a waste. Wiicontroller? Wiicontrollers are inefficient and useless crap; totally overrated. You did that just because.. I mean, there's nerdy and there's too nerdy. Too nerdy is what "the starwars kid" is.

  • and too gay is what you are for this comment... why dont you give everyone your full analysis on the wii controller and possibly post a link to a better alternative? oh, will it make you not only too gay, but also too nerdy? i bet so, wouldnt it?

  • What? You are not making any sense whatsoever.

Here is your analysis: Wiimote < laptop's arrowkeys & mouse with GPS and all that shit.

He did it for fun, it's not more usable than that it's remote controlled. He applies an accelerometer to steer a telescope. He isnt really making anything useful; iirc there isnt any dedicated word for doing exactly so.

    What is your IQ?

  • Another thing.. nobody said that "profitless" or "useless" projects doesnt joy/develop/learn anything. You are making a lot of assumptions. With your logic that is being gay(with a questionmark). I just made a statement here, I never said that you are gay. What's up with gays anyways? Dont you like them?

  • so whats your high score?

  • that is a motherfucking equitorial base of justice lol. bet that base cost more then my entire set up w/ lens and filters.

  • you are genius, very handy discovery there. 5/5

  • Sweet

  • one day you will be competing Professor Kevin Warwick.....good video next time make setup in outdoor if possible...need some indoor light.

  • awsome i can use it to watch my neighbor undress

  • awesome!!

  • that is soo pro

  • lol the ultimate geek thing to do, combine video games with science

  • how many mm is that guys?

  • Holy mackerel....

  • the ceiling must look amazing through that thing

  • Invented to see what is beyond and farther than the ceiling not the ceiling

  • You mean the roof joists and shingles? Is that like x-ray vision?

  • How much money

  • laptop $600. Wii - $600 Telescope ~$3000

  • That is amazing!!

How does it know to do that!

Can you post the url, i couldnt quite make out the address in the video

  • Why, the miracle of science Theodore.

  • NICE work! Absolutely brilliant... ;)

  • The strap is there for a reson

  • LOl

  • Nice one!

  • thats awesome

  • wow, nice :)

  • Cool

  • wow man nice, I'll be buying a telescope soon. If I had one now i'll probably be able to see mars very well, you can see it with the naked yes, it looks awesome

    !!

  • Not all well as Saturn. With Saturn you can feel the heat coming all the light reflecting off Saturn and into the telescope.

I was looking a Mars and Saturn last night with a 12"(diameter) telescope so this smaller scope you see in this video will not be able to see either as well.

  • You seem to be an expert !!

Any recommendations for me before buying my first telescope?

What about telescopes equipped with their own computers . Are they available for the public or for scientists only?

  • AWESOME THAT IS SWEET!

  • Jamez don't listen to all these ppl. They r just hatin' b/c they aren't smart enough to figure something like this out. As for what's the point.. what's the point of eating with a fork when we have chop sticks? It's a hell of a lot more convenient! Not the best example, but I've made my point.

  • actually the telescope will track the stars by itself.

  • Is this a store bought telescope or something you built? Great job either way, but if it's something you built I'd love to know what sort of hardware you put on there. :) Great vid though!

  • That's great. I have just bought a dobsonian, which lacks any type of automated movement, so I might have to try building something similar.

  • Is this a Vixen telescope??!

  • Yes the telescope is a Vixen ED100SF. I love it!

  • Thanks..I just ordered a Vixen ED+ sphinx mount..and all I wanted to hear from you is the " I LOVE IT " part :)

  • what is the total maginfication on that? how much about does it cost?

  • thats not the telescope you want if your begining astronomy

  • well.. im not beginning. but i guess novice. i bought a celestron 114 eq. Its alright i guess. I just need more eye pieces.

  • its pretty kewl but it has no point rofl

  • hes got way too much time on his little hands man

  • you forgot to mention money

  • u know u use it to spy on your sexy neighbor

  • check out "Jeff Kuntz's Testimony"

  • Hey stop flaming him. =/

  • at least it has better controls than any of the wii games

  • Get a life........or a girlfriend....doesn't matter which one, just do it until you make that Wii controler, control the vibration speed of a dildo......you homo lazy ass......

  • how is he a lazy ass? and you're the one that needs to get a life you prick

  • I don't get it! ;)

  • lame.

  • What the hell was the point of that? Buddy you need to get laid.

  • and wii is gay too

  • he is gay

  • galaxies are gay!

  • worst wii game ever

  • uhm ok... am i the only one that's lost in here :

  • smart

  • i hate you.

  • wtf is the point? are u too lazy to control the telescope with your hands?! instead of using a lot more time to start the program on your pc and stuff, i just dont see the point here..

  • lol, i think hes just a geek and likes to set up wiimotes to everything.. plus it is kinda cool

  • You're pissed cause you too stupid to figure something like that out. Don't be a hater.

  • gay

  • stupid

  • you dont have your wrist strap on...YOUR GONNA BREAK SOMETHING AHHHHHH!!!

  • Thats hella funny!!

  • is there anything the wii will not do?

  • the only reason you people like ps3 and 360 better then we is because that is what u have. if you people all had a wii u would like wii better then ps3 or 360

  • Don't think that's true. Wii still lacks good games, other than Zelda TP, a few others and lots of party games. I have a Wii and I still don't like it that much (yet) and I know lots of others who feel the same way. It might sell well (much thanks to non gamers buying it) but it still has to prove itself. Hopefully MP3: Corruption will do that.

  • i never said that i loved wii either but i stil like it because i have games for wii that i think are fun like the bigs, and madden 07. i have zelda but i dont think it is all that great or even good.

  • Hmmm, i wonder why the XBOX is being recalled by the manufacturer ? I heard a couple of horror stories about the Xbox. PS3 on the other hand is way tooooo heavy.

  • and the Play station has not changed ever since and the games are evolving. That is why most game designers are being limited by the very features of the platform they spend they time designing on.

  • Since you get a new Xbox for free I wouldn't see it as that big of a problem and I've heard about Wiis malfunctioning aswell, even though not as many as the 360s. But still. I don't see why it matters that PS3 is big and heavy. If your going to build a really good system you have to compromise somewhere. Imo that's a small price to pay for that kind of graphics. Just for the record I don't own a X360, I don't own a PS3. I own a Wii.

  • I have an XBOX and a Wii. The XBOX is currently stashed in a box because of a defective wireless controller. The XBOX is actually a gift from someone. It always gets disconnected even if i replace it with fresh batteries. So right now i play games with the the Wii.

  • Why don't you just get a new XBOX controller altogether?

  • It is like BULB mode in DSLRs. You dont touch the camera to get clear photos. With telescopes, you dont touch the mount and scope when shooting astrophotos or looking at the eyepiece as the the mount is on controlled wireless. I find Wii a cool method for such.

  • gay wii sucks get a ps3 or 360

  • i agree wii is so lame and gay

  • omg that is sooooo kool!!!

    genius ryt there

  • That is awesome. Makes me wish I never dropped out of highschool and payed attention in class.

  • that was amazing dude

  • freaking awsome man i should hook up my penor pump to the freaking wii controller to control the suction and totally

  • pretty sweet. But you could of just faked it by getting someone to control it. and you just wave the wii remote around.

  • i doubt he faked it.. theres other videos of people who've tried it and suceeded

  • and the reason for this would be...

  • well done dude

  • rrrrrrrrrrr

  • AWESOME

  • your such a geek, but man that was soo cool!!!

  • cool

  • thats totally awsome.maybe you could make a maxhine that can feed your pets with the wii then you dont have to get up and do it. yeah i no its lazy but sum ppl are disabled.

  • Man, you've got way too much time on your hands.

  • I ALWAYS hate this reply

  • haha you're good ^^ Using a Wii for controlling your mount... funny

  • looks complicated, and i didnt really see it move :(

  • Science !!

  • just wasted 1 minute and 16 seconds of my life

  • me too.

  • great application! for those who have never tried to move a scope to pinpoint something in the sky, a hair can be thousands of miles...thanks

  • looks pretty slow to me

  • this guy needs to get laid

  • obviously its all you think of

  • Sounds cool to me. I like the idea of using the wii for other things besides playing games. Good video I say. I think astralogy is much less nerdy then being on your comp all day trolling youtube. :)

  • me to

  • ======ppppppppp

  • the reason it wasnt moving much was because its a telescope and if your tryin to centeer on a specific area of the sky you dont want it to spin off randomly

  • lol its just like a remote for the telescope. but whats the point of it?

  • it looked like to me that it was barely moving but that might just be me. XD

  • good one, mate.....

  • Oh my God , there's a nerd on my screen when i watch this.

  • nice, you are good at that stuff i guess

  • wtf

  • Hey,thanks for the invite into your living room to see the 'scope set-up and running.Very nice!We are in a "dark sky" area with a Nexstar tied to a PC and are considering finally investing in a CCD imager. We've looked at what's available..any advice on this is appreciated! Best regards

  • Hmm, interesting, Whats the website for the program?

  • Very interesting, but is it really that much better than just a good button panel? If anything I would think the thumbstick would be a better match with higher slewing speeds based on the distance the thumbstick is moved.

  • As of right now EQMOD only slews at a set rate, so a thumbstick wouldn't have analog control. When analog control does get put in EQMOD, tilting the Wiimote at differing amounts will vary the slew speed.

    -Jim

  • sweet ***** stars

  • as if the wiimote wasn't already innacurate... i hope 'precision' is something you plan on not having your telescope perform...

  • Actually it's extremely accurate. The Atlas mount allows very very slow motion controls so any sloppiness in the Wii controller is removed.

    -Jim

  • yeah i was joking based on what my wii does (ha....) . man good job hooking that up though! im sure it works sweet ^_^

grrr so many console fanboys here....

  • Ahh, the many useful things that Wii can do. =3 XD

    Serriously, nice job. =3

  • u need a supermagnification glass to see the telescope movement.

  • Also this one.

    eq-mod sourceforge net/testimages

    wiili org index.php Main_Page

  • Your right on. The yahoo tech group EQMOD is a great resource for the Atlas (EQ-6) equatorial mount.

    -Jim

  • I found at Google a link to the project website.

    eq-mod sourceforge net

  • Woah, all that jargon at the end just blew my mind.

  • damn wii can do anything!

  • I absolutely LOVE to watch nerds do cool shit I have no fuckin patience to do myself! :D Nice job Mr. !

  • Sweet. I bet it's great for moon watching. (no funny remarks asshats of youtube...)

  • lolz cool

  • This is a GOTO mount. You don't move it with your hands. The idea is that you use the Wimote while looking through the eyepiece to center the object.

  • I move it faster with my bare hand...Yeah the wiimote does many things but most of them, useless...
