  • It looks like QK has too many things that could go wrong compared to Trophy. From what I can see Trophy looks like a shotgun or flack gun.

  • Those were different types of at weapons?

  • the rocket is a fly-by rocket. thats a lame test.

  • i carry this and a grenade

  • A great video except for the lack of reference between the two AP systems. Frankly I would put my money on the TROPHY given the success it has had.

  • it think that Active defense systems every were will change the face of the modern battlefield

  • Active Protection Systems have a long way to go! There is a lot of criticism around them. Probably later versions will work better and solve the problems addressed in the criticisms! This video is old. Is Quick Kill still in development?

  • @zaco21

quick kill is still in development, but they are way behind schedule.

and trophy does work very well. the usa tested it and it was 30 out of 30. in 2011 they repeated another test and compared it to the other aps and trophy was the best.

  • of course you cant believe Rafael when they say less then 1%, they are selling a product, but with the only detonation being the actual warhead of the incoming missile its safe to assume that friendly forces around the tank will be safer with trophy then with Quick kill or Iron fist

  • The way i see it, what happens to all the soldiers walking around the tank?

  • @smilenowcrylater4 they said less then 1% on collateral damage

  • @davidds0 well yeah but, there's many more factors to it, including human error, the margin for injury in a wood shop is relatively low, nothing really dangerous about those machines, it's our reflexes and sometimes stupidity that get us in trouble, that's what i meant, i mean you still get an explosion

  • @smilenowcrylater4 well, the explosion is smaller anyway, so if it wasnt for this system at the first place, those soldiers would have been killed or injured worse anyway.

about reflexes im not sure, it happans very fast you might not even relize it untill it allready passed

  • @davidds0 yep, it does minimize, i agree with you on that, could save a leg or two.

  • actually arena was developed in the 90's to combat the ineffectiveness of the drozd which was made in the 70's, the drozd had a large kill percentage for missiles and sadly infantry, it also had only a 60 degree range of protection, it was very ineffective in the soviet war in Afghanistan, thus provoking the invention of arena

  • how many times will it take it out? ..lol..rpgs can be reloaded but the Trophy wont be..?

  • @Dubaifreak rpgs arent fired on a tank like automatic machine gun :D by the time the third rpg is about to get fired , there is no chance that targtet wont be destroyed by the tank it self by tehn

  • @Dubaifreak

the new trophy version does reload very fast!

  • @siamfd201 German system is not deployed yet. Recent system MAPS is joint development of German Diehl and Israel's IMI. I looks like combo of AWiSS and Iron Fist.

  • @siamfd201 they dident said its succes rate is 98% they said the chance from getting hurt from collateral damage is less then 1%, also , it was tested intercepting many threats at once while moving, or els they wouldnt claim that it can do it if they werent tested it yet, ofcourse its not 100% succes, but it makes allmost revultion in defence, imagine how much defence that thing adds to your tank, because before that all the defence the tank had is his own skin.

  • @siamfd201 it is used, its only installed on merkava mk 4, but a few weeks ago an RPG was launched on a mk4 in gaza and the system engaged and saved the tank. this was the first time the system used in real time

  • Russia aint got shit on Israel, all your Jewish Scientists that made the soviet power are all working in Israel now. Keep selling your junk to the Arabs, no wonder we kick there ass in 6 days.

  • @ZionIDF ouch.

  • @ZionIDF

kicked their ass in the 6 day war but couldnt defeat a militia in 2006 ;) huge improvement

  • @binlootah11 had no criticism from the world media and gevernments in 1967, couldn't hurt a terrorist's fingernail without riots in 2006. major difference.

  • @ZionIDF

wait, are you standing up for the Russians or the Israels?

  • russia had the arena active defence system in the late seventies, it's safer to crew, it's fitted as standard to t64,s t72,s t80, and t90,s and i think that it,s safe to assume that it has been improved substantualy.

  • @bzorbn Arena system is not safer than Trophy, on contrary. And it was never operational, Trophy is.

  • @gorf1

Arena is the successor to Drozd, a Soviet active protection system from the late 1970s, which was installed on several T-55s during the Soviet war in Afghanistan...

so, the soviets had some experience with this type of technology, don`t you think???

  • @gorf1

The hell are you talking about? The Arena system is real, it works, and it's a standard outfit for T-90s, especially new T-90s like the T-90A and T-90MS. The trophy system never entered service with the US, but it seems the Israelis know the way to go, they have both reactive armor and APS countermeasure system like Russia, unlike the US military which seems to oppose both ideas.

  • @bzorbn arena is NOT operational !

  • @bzorbn Drozd was in service in the late 1970s, not Arena! Arena also has a flaw! It's incorporated in the tank which means it's harder to replace and maintain. Also Arena doesn't protect the back of the turret! Like most hard kill active protection systems there is the problem with collateral damage or to your own or allied troops that are around the tank!

  • actually lasers can do all what he said, and more. also the list of negatives are incorrect

  • @Blox117 No they really aren't. Time to kill on a laser is significant, the energy requirements are enormous, and device would be extremely fragile and bulky. Laser missile defences might be suited for dealing with ICBMs, they absolutely aren't suited for battlefield use.

  • @ShineDoggins Right now maybe, but the future of APS definitely rests with lasers. Efficiency, size, weight, durability, and power (which translates into less time-to-kill) is constantly improving, and will very soon be applicable for "battlefield use".

  • @Sin526 Or they could use a lightsaber and some helpful assistance from The Force!

  • anyway i'll get both so i'll be sure that my honda civic wont explode due of an rpg attack ... in united states...

  • Is it me or that RPG wasn't even aimed at the Stryker?

  • I'm sorry, but why buy a Quick Kill system, when you all can see, the it can kill the soldiers around or near the tank. The prophy is much effective, and react faster..

  • The THEL could also vaporize artillery rockets fire from MLRS and also vaporize mortar rounds from mortar. A mini THEL fit on Tanks, APC, AIFV, IFV, Fighting Vehicles, MRAP, & helicopter would kept our US troops safe. A mini THEL is better than Quick and Kill, TROPHY, Iron Fist, & ARENA. If I were Raytheon cancel Quick and kill and built mini THEL on war machines. Also built radar that could scanned underground & around the war machines 360 degree.

  • @USAAIRPOWER thats true but the thel needs huge amounts of energy (if we just could install a nuclear power plant in the tanks...)

  • @USAAIRPOWER Go rather play on your xbox u shithead . U talk nonsense all the day .............i heard some rumours u been fucked and bullied in your school by black guys , thats really sad :(

  • I was thinking about that Raytheon should built a mini THEL (tactical high energy laser) with radar detection scanning around 360 degree looking for incoming RPG & ATGM. Also scanning on the ground for IED & Land mines. I think a mini THEL is better than Quick & Kill because you don't need to reloaded again you just kept firing vaporize Rockets, Missiles, IED, & Land mines. I would fit THEL on helicopter, APC, AIFV, IFV, & Tanka aka MBT.

  • @USAAIRPOWER THEL is affective only against projectiles which travel long time.

an anti-tank missile is very fast, and the THEL don't have enough time to detonate it (vaporize? this isn't "star wars")

also, THEL is useless against kinetic energy projectiles.

THEL system involves a big containers of flammable and toxic gases, not ideal to put on a tank.

THEL is also useless against IED if the are hidden underground.

THEL have problems in fogy/dusty weather.

  • @USAAIRPOWER you are stupid assuming somhow they will miniaturize the the

you will need a 10 ton battery to fire it l

  • you stupid arogent American ass hole active protection systems in general don't work against ieds your shity non operational quick kill included tropy is already combat proven in gaza

  • this will expose infantry and it doesnt work against IED's. the question is. does it work against new and modern advanced missles like the javlin and kornet and few more of the same family of missles?

  • Ha! The fuckin taliban will be wandering whats happening to their RPG's. Dumb asses.

  • @AC130EMPYREAL Eventually they'll come up with a solution. The guys are pretty adaptable ;)

  • @AC130EMPYREAL Fail. It was not used in the Lebanon war. N yeah the zionistscums got owned.

  • quick kill!?yeah....I'm sure your dismounts will die real quick ....hehehe

  • i think Trhopy is better:

cuz Trhopy can blow up the RPG or whatever it is in air or redirect it without Exploed it +the trophy make smaller exsplotion than the Qucik Kill System

  • quick kill better than trophy.

but comparing iron fist to quick kill, its hard to conclude.

  • Infantry are fucked if either go off while they are close.

  • I'd say you need more clips to do a good comparison. From here, we can't tell if they use the same RPG warhead, or even if the RPG may react differently, depending on how / where it is hit, even if it's going up against the same system.

  • I say the Trophy for ground vehicles and the Quickkill for helicopters and aircrafts.

  • I do not want to be the infantry near the target when that goes off. Either one. Specially that quick kill system.
