  • i like how much he likes david bowie

  • I just love his covers. The classic guitar adds a touch of class

  • É incrivel como Seu Jorge causa grande repercusão no exterior

  • Big deal. I do as well, and no, they are not that similar. Perhaps one could argue the lexical similarity, but that's entirely different from phonology.

As far as phonology goes, Portuguese and French are worlds apart.

  • I speak Portuguese and French and YES they are similar.

  • Pure Beauty!

  • Seu Jorge e o Violão. Pra quê mais? Perfeitos!

  • french also has a lot of latin or (romance) influence due to the romans

  • Please do not hate Americans for ignorance or alienation. Not all of us are morons. Just the ones online and on TV.

    Thank you,

From the man who says he is Canadian when he travels abroad

  • @caseyfel You and everyone else who bases themselves off of nationality identity, and feels 'ashamed' for being 'American'. Anyone that judges a person off of the external is just a clear-cut, not far from racist, asshole.

  • @XLegitInhalesX French ??? lol

Only americans can be so alienated....

  • @GabuGama im kidding bro. obviously thats not french i posted that to get people angry at the fact that its not french even tho i knew that in the first place. aka being a troll

  • @GabuGama americans alienated? i think the north koreans and cubans would beg to differ.

  • first one was typo and second was me being lazy

  • lol we'll play my friend. greeting's from brazil.

  • because we don't hear both languages all the time, its not everyday that an american hears french or portuguese and your the clueless one, there should be a s on the end of american

  • they only hear the accent and the way of speaking since they don't understand the words, portuguese is the closer to french in that respect... so don't be a jerk

  • No its not. Spanish is more like portuguese. And I speak spanish, english, french and portuguese.

  • I'm brazilian.. portuguese is closer to spanish and italian..

  • @marvincontendo vo consegue distinguir islandico de sueco?

  • @marvincontendo

the french should be happy that their language is being confused with a useful one

  • para com isso, vai falar que português é mais útil que francês..

  • @cherokeesven hahaaha

  • @marvincontendo

or are some people so clueless that they're capable of confusing pretentious accusations for wit?

its a song so you listen to it for pleasure; not for analysis or a means to belittle a demographic.

  • @marvincontendo Just as it's possible for you to attribute the fact that someone is confused about a foreign language to their country of origin.

  • @marvincontendo I actually thought it was Spanish the first few seconds I heard him....I felt ashamed....

  • @marvincontendo I don't think is such a crazy thing. Portuguese and French are two closely related romance languages and portuguese pronunciation almost has more in common with french than spanish. To an unfamiliar ear that could easily be mistaken. I can tell the two apart cause i'm familiar with at least one of them but if i had to compare closely related asian languages, for example, i'd be just as lost.

  • @Constableticktock1 No way! As a Brazilian I can hardly read a single word in French, but I know very much of Spanish just because its similarities with Portuguese. Portuguese may sound a bit like the French for people who who are not accustomed to the Romance languages. But for us Brazilians it has nothing to do. We either don't make pouts while we're speaking LOL

  • @ferdinandsouz We are in agreement then I simply said that to an American unfamiliar with any of the romance languages Portuguese and French could seems similar being that they are in fact related. Obviously if you speak portuguese you would no the difference but that was never my point. Also, i'm a fluent spanish speaker and although Spanish are Portuguese are much closer related I still think that Portuguese pronunciation shares many subtleties with French that Spanish simply does not have.

  • @Constableticktock1 mistakes.... :S

I'm brazilian and I live in italy here a lot of people speaks french, and dude...i dont undestand nothing, our accent and words is very very much far far away diferent of the french. I know read and speak french (without undestand what I'm saying...but :P) and I can say that with shure. isnt similar.

and yes we've more in common with spanish.

and to be honestly maybe we've more in common with japanese accent but not with french.

    hahaha

  • @psilokilll I'm mexican and fluent in spanish as well, I agree that Portuguese and Spanish are much closer related than french i'd never argue that, but i still think that Portuguese and French pronunciation have similarities that Spanish does not have. for example the way they pronunce (r), the existence of open closed and nasalized vowels. The use of the cedilla. Anyway ultimately that is my opinion and i'm a mexican spanish speaker trying to learn european portuguese.

  • @Constableticktock1 If you want to learn European Portuguese you must to go to Portugal. I think no other country around the world except the colonies of Portugal speak as they speak. If you learn Portuguese in Brazil may you'll have more success, although it is much more complex because of differences in each state of the country.

  • @Constableticktock1 isnt all wrong, our R and SOME things have almost the same accent, but that's because are two latin languages and if you look other similarities between the latin languages the spanish will be like PT and FR like ITA and ITA like PT and PT like FR. Do you know what I mean?!

So my point is: our words "construction", the gramatic rules, vocabulary and cadence speaking are closer.

If you learn portoguese, try to study some thing of french and tell me if I'm wrong. :P

  • @marvincontendo Mostly because Portuguese is a fusion between French and Spanish... And this may come as a shock but there are ignorant people around the globe, not just in America. Maybe we publicize our idiots more often or allow them a voice. Your opening statement was unnecessary and rude.

  • @MrMachoMilk I don't know where you got the idea that portuguese is a fusion of spanish and french... with all due respect, that is completely wrong, and if you think french is of latin origin, you're also wrong. french is of frankish origin, and the reason portuguese and spanish have some words that are similar to french words is because the spanish and portuguese countries were once part of the frankish empire, therefore they were very influenced with the french language...

  • @danielsenn31 Nice sense of humour, dude. Because that was a joke, right?

Portuguese is very close to Spanish, as both languages share a great amount of words and structures. That applies to written texts, though. As a Spaniard who has visited Portugal many times, I can say that understanding spoken Portuguese is much more difficult. Not to mention Brazilian Portuguese, of course.

  • @Simkim666 that's cultual offensive man, it's like to say that americans just eat junk food ,for our people.

  • @caiometalisthelord What did I possibly say that is offensive? Are you Portuguese or Brazilian? If so, I just pointed out that both languages are similar, that's all. Not that Portuguese comes from Spanish or anything like that

  • @Simkim666 portuguese and french come from latin, and so does spanish

  • @heyholetsgg Of course they do. But when did I say anything different?

  • @marvincontendo

Portuguese and French are VERY alike.. the nasal vowels make them very similar and as a Brazilian myself, I gotta say your comment is just RUDE! It shows that you are the one who are clueless.

  • @marvincontendo lol in america anything is possible haha

  • @marvincontendo I initially thought french. sorry. It sounds similar for those of us speaking English on a daily basis.

  • Is his bottom string slightly out of tune?

Maybe I'm just off or something. Either way I love this interpretation.

  • his voice translated the lyrics perfectly

  • So Bowie is a cokehead... It's now my turn to say, poor Bowie...
