Joe *IS* indeed more impatient with Adam. I think all their passive-aggressive behaviour towards each other is masking a more serious problem between the two of them - they finally had enough of each other, and having drifted apart over the last few years (marriage, kids for Adam, moving far away from each other) I think they have finally realised how much they annoy each other. I wouldn't be surprised to see them at each other's throats very soon.
