Hey ya guys! I was thrilled to found this video about the huge work of preservation and praxis of the letter-printing (: i am myself an enthusiast in all that involves printing and i loved watching the passion of your work, love to visit you some day (: have even more fun printing!! btw, the monoprints are amazing (;
I want to thank you for just the most amazing and interesting video I have seen for a long time. I was never a Printer letterpress or otherwise, but I was a "Print Finisher/Book Maker.
I am not old enough for retirement but was forced to stop work when my Epilepsy became too much of a risk.
Not ashamed to say I cried watching this. Letter-Press is exactly the same as when it was invented. Johannes Gutenberg 'Press', applied the Ink and the 'Type' was 'Set' in the same way.Thanks
I love love love Hatch Show Print. I love living in Nashville and seeing their posters everywhere. It is the coolest thing to go to a show at the Ryman and buy a Hatch poster.
"What is the difference between offset and letterpress printing?"
The instructor told him,
"When a girl kisses her handkerchief then presses it against your lips, that's kinda like offset printing. But when she presses her lips against yours, now that's LETTERPRESS ! ".
I've been praying for Nashville concerning the recent flood and am so thankful that no damage has come to your wonder collection of letterpress goodies.
It is a great piece of living history ! Got my Gov`t Mule poster on Saturday for the Friday show(Thanks Cathy !). These people are as friendly as they are talented at their craft. Great to see them keeping the bussiness going, and in a "back in time" setting"
We just visited over Memorial Day. The staff was friendly, the shop was amazing, and I scored three bargain bin prints that I absolutely love. Even my two young boys loved seeing how posters were made "in the olden days." After spending so much time designing on the computer, it makes me happy to see people still crafting beautiful artwork with their hands. Brilliant.
i think the biggest thing to note however, is that this isnt just how posters were made in 'the olden days.' it is still a vital, living, viable, and growing method. People are still constantly pushing the boundaries of letterpress.
what an honest, communal an passionate business. This is how i wish the high street was.

It's probably pathetic that something like this gets me so excited. Letterpress is amazing, must be sure to stop by this wonderful place.

Gives new meaning to the phrase 'big iron'...there's just some things that digital tech simply cannot do!
I hope it NEVER disappears...if so, it'd be a tragedy!

My dad was a linotype operator, so I got my first taste of letterpress about 50 years ago. It never ceases to amaze and hypnotize.
