First, do you still have the car? If not, then the rest of this comment won't mean shit. Secondly if you would have let it charge completely, then you wouldn't be having this issue. A car with E.F.I. has to have a minium of 8-9 volts to the computer at start -up to operate. You probably have barely that at rest, i.e. it won't start, period. If you don't have the car, then forget what I said.
i used to have a Grand Am like that except it was the 3.1L V6...and mine did the exact same thing one day..it took a good hour to get it running and then we found out it had an exhaust leak..sheesh!
remove the battery, Trickle charge it over night, put the battery back in the car... Problem solved. unless there are some other underlying issues..

if the battry is OLD and dead, it dont matter how many or how long u let it charge. Get a new battry. Quit being so cheap & buy a new battry for it.

*Trying to start a COLD car, right? That's not an "old" car.
That's what, a 95+ Sunfire? That's not old.
And my 95 Grand Prix fires the first time every time and has never left me stranded...

mudderboy1 3 years ago
that's not a old car.lol you need better jumper cables. you will never get a EFI car started with what voltage.
V8Jagnut 3 years ago
those are the beast cables you can egt plus they are new. the batt is campletaly dead right now thats why its so crappy at turning over.
mudderboy1 3 years ago
thats the problem. new jumper leads a crap. find a good old set and you will be happy.
