could anyone please tell me what hand mike leads with when going into fills?? i've recently went back to open handed playing(being naturally left handed) having taught myself right hand lead. im having trouble going from a groove to a fill fluidly. any adivce would be greatly appreciated.
Mike Bordin is an exceptional drummer.. try playing this, or any of the Faith No More tunes and you'll soon realise it takes more to be a good drumer than a few rolls and loud solos. A++++ PS.. Faith No More rock! Thank F their back :)
this song is shit, Bordin are so much drummer for this stupids song from ozzy´s wife. go to hell Shannon you are a fuckin bitch, back the name of black sabbath to Tommy, ozzy is a fuckin clown, stupid old man.
@mannyrock1970 Who the hell is Tommy? Are you talking about TONY IOMMI? Seriously if your gonna go on a rant about how you hate Sharon, Ozzy, and Bordin, get the fuckin names right. Say it with me. T - O - N - Y
@mannyrock1970 First of all, her name is SHARON. Second of all, you dont know her, and lastly, can i borrow some of your Chart topping albums? I bet youre better than Ozzy if you can talk crap about him.
@mannyrock1970 holy shit, learn some english before you try to talk about shit u don't even understand. wow, didn't think it was physically possible to be this stupid, u must qualify for mental retardation, i feel pretty sorry for you.
Im an open handed player and massive faith no more fan but this one thing has bothered me and im wondering if anyone can help me out. does mike start all his fills left hand lead or right hand lead??
mike "puffy" bordin rules. i've always liked his style and the way he grooves. you don't really see alot of left handed drummers, and even fewer who play a right handed kit. i think it's awesome he's a lefty and leads with his right foot. i hope his career in music keeps on truckin'. love from SF.
Ya'll wanna hear amazing drumming by Mike? Get Jerry Cantrell's Degradation Trip 2 disk edition! An amazing rock album and very brilliant drumming by the man.
@Bundloc Check out Faith No More's cover of War Pigs. Grooves like crazy, but no, not too fast. Speed is really not the secret to being a good player, drums or guitar. If you got no feel, you got no appeal. Bonham had as much speed as anyone today, but only used it two or three times on album. Trampled Underfoot has a blinding fill, but he's all about groove, so he's historically great. Danny Carey, not too fast, but insanely good.
@Bundloc I've played for 23 years, but taught myself. I can play some odd time stuff, but can't really identify or count the real odd times. I'm not that good, but I listen to a lot. I didn't mean any disrespect, just trying to share. Always loved how this guy played.
at 2:42 he hits the cymbal again at 312 and 325. I hear nothing. Hes playing to a recording FOR the video not actually playing........Are you guys all deef?
Glenn Danzig once said that Mike Bordin is one of the greatest drummers out there. He's certainly one of my favs, and Faith No More are one of my fav bands. I hope they bring their reunion to the U.S.
Mike Bordin is unbelievable. I saw him live for Faith No More , Korn, and Ozzy. Not many people can hit as hard as he can. I love the open handed approach and the use of only one pedal. If you haven't heard his version of War Pigs, do yourself a favor and listen to it now!!
Bordin is da man!! Playing with his sticks reversed and all!! Sick drummer.......... u guys should have seen him filling in for David Silveria with KoRn. What a fucking moster!!! Top class
... then I saw Ozzy a few years back at a small venue in Seoul - the drums were amazing and then I realize it's Mike Bordin - pretty damn cool seeing Ozzy, Wylde, Trujillo (now with Metallica) and Bordin. Great style.
Mike's probably my favorite drummer ever. Just a very great style and sound he has. You know he has a signature snare drum from Yamaha thats sounds & looks amazing. It weighs like 40 lbs prolly. Very expensive though. Over a 1k somewhere. I actually saw and held one of them snares as well. The coolest lookin thing i ever saw i tell ya. Can't wait to get one of them suckers.
Agree! I played on his signature snare the other day and was blown away. And I have several real good snare, (Ludwig BB, COB, Craviotto, Jr Robinson Signature.) His snare was the best I tried, totally awsome!
Nice dude. That Robinson one is a lovely lookin snare as well. There's prolly about 3 or 4 other snares from Yamaha on my wish list at the moment. But the Bordin one is definately gonna be in my posession by next year sumtime. In my opinion, i think Yamaha makes the best signature artist snares.
I`m a Ludwig man, (bought one of Bobby Rondinellis kits, a wonderful Gold Sparkle kit) but have to agree that Yamaha makes great drums- had the Anton Fig signature snare, good drum, also looking for the Roy Haynes. Definately going to get my hands on the Bordin snare! Good luck, friend!
Ahhhhh the Hayne's snare is my second choice. Love that snare as well and i always hear great things from it. Alot of rock guys use that one from what i know. You can hear it real good on one of Godsmack's dvds. Shannon Larkin just wails on that thing and it has an amazing sound. And i'm actually a Tama guy but i like Yamaha's snares alot. The only one from Tama i like is the Copeland. Still debating whether to get a Tama or Yamaha for my first real pro kit though. we'll see. Check u later bro.
Yes. And since the sig-snares are pretty expensive it takes some careful consideration.. agree-the Copeland-snare is quite a masterpiece too, the Kenny Aronoff is another- also like the Yamahas Paul Leim and maybe Manu Cathches sig-snares
I have the same "problem". Drumming to me, is a love-hate realtionship. Drums themselfs, however, are pure love. Bought a 24" Paiste 2002 crash, that is a cool cymbal..
Damn dude. I'm a Paiste man all the way as well. hahaha I'd like to see that on a vid sumtime. i've got a 2002 22" Rock Bell ride as well. Pretty much the only Paiste pro cymbal ive got for now. Thinkin of gettin a pair of 2002 15" wild hi hats sumtime too. Along wit a couple Rude crashes & maybe a couple chinas. The ride i need to get fixed sumtime. Accidentally dropped it & the core part is exposed. Aint cracked though thank god. Just a real small nick. Bothers me alot but still sounds good.
2002.s all the way. They have such a fast response. love Ian Paices way of playing big cymbals. Tried most cymbals, Zildjian, Sabian but for the last 12 years or so I`ve played Paiste, felt like coming home.
Right on dude. Yeah i'm sorta thinkin a full 2002 set up as well but time will tell. Im thinkin of my next ride cymbal to purchase as well. 4 choices prolly: 22" 2002 power ride, 22" Signature Reflector power ride, 24" 2002 ride, or a 24" Rude mega bell ride. lol Them things r an addiction brother. But yeah 2002s r great. Phil Rudd has an amazing Paiste set up as well.
a matter of personal taste. Didn`t like the heavy ride I had, the 22" power ride is great, my all-time favourite is the standard 22" ride. Tried the Nicko McBrain sig-ride but found it a bit too specialized for me, although it is a good cymbal
he has a unique style. especially those high ass toms.. love it... carter beauford inspired me to open hand pla... but borden inspired me to open hand lead... with my right hand... just picture his set, left hand setup with a second bass drum and u got me lol
Mike Bordin is amazing. He's got a really interesting and powerful style. I just realized today that he's been playing for Ozzy. Now it makes sense why the drums are so great in this song.

Mean Drummer Mean! You dickheads that r Going on bout him: Get a fucken grip of yourselves you sound like a little pair of arguing teen girls. oh sorry if you r.
