if you would actually finish the chapter, instead of just reading parts of it, then you'd understand in Leviticus it continues by saying (in a nutshell) he needs to go to a priest and be forgiven.

in Deuteronomy it doesn't mean just have sex with any girl you'd like, but if you desire a women marry her.

@lalamusa1 You are the one who is lying and should read his bible. Lev 19:20 does NOT say that the man should not be punished. Rather it gives instructions of exactly how he should be punished. It simply says that he should not be put to death. Deut 22:24 They are both put to death because they both committed adultery, it says nothing about rape it is speaking of consensual sex. v 25 speaks of rape and it says that the woman should NOT be punished.

Deut 22:24 WRONG....This is saying if a man has sex with a betrothed woman (both by will), they're both to be put to death. Verses 25-27 talk about rape and in that case ONLY the man is put to death.

You are not understanding the translation or the message. God's standards are NOT man's standards. American tolerance and love are not Godly tolerance and love. Read a little closer next time.

@jeffmaraman1 It does teach that, but not in a 'superior/inferior' way, but out of mutual love for one another as 'equals' made in the image of God. The commands for submissiveness and headship come with guidelines to explain what it means to be submissive or to have headship, and they are very loving. I recommend to anyone who wants to learn what the Bible teaches about this topic to read the Book ' Evangelical Feminism and Biblical Truth ' by Wayne Grudem.

In my desire to know of the background and culture that the Bible was written in, to compare what was written to see if it were at all compatible with known reality of the times. And it was. Women were treated the way they were because of Men's insatiable desires and their fear of inability to contain them. Put the woman away and those feelings subside.

Eve is blamed as the one who caused the fall of man but it wasn't her alone. we should deal with sin and help and pray for things to get better. We should be loving and forgiving, and show Grace and Mercy because we had so much Grace and Mercy given to us from God. Paul wrote galatians... and he certainly prescribed different roles for men and women in his other writings(1Tim2:12). So either Paul was in error in all of his writings except Galatians or the verse you've just quoted doesn't mean what you think it means.
